A voxel survival co-op where the entire continent is a sculptable canvas and vertical exploration matches the genre-ceiling build depth.

Unser Fazit

## Overall

Commercial standing, recovery curve, and the audience question

The commercial line tells one story: Steam Early Access on January 24, 2024, roughly USD 19 million in week-one revenue and about 800,000 copies sold, a million in four days (second only to Palworld on the global sales chart that month), two million players in a month, three million by August 2024, four million by year end, five million-plus by early 2026. That puts Enshrouded next to Palworld in the fastest-million club in Steam history, hitting AAA-tier numbers from an Early Access window. An 80-person studio with an in-house voxel engine making it on "shipping an experience nobody else can build" is the kind of outcome that proves the model still works.

Steam user sentiment did the rest of the heavy lifting. The score curve started Mixed (launch-week crash bugs and multiplayer disconnects), then climbed steadily back to Very Positive after rapid hotfixes. 3DM in China framed it as "textbook Early Access crisis PR — the dev team's response speed beat most AAA studios." OpenCritic's Top Critic Average sits near 80, IGN at 8 of 10, RPG Site at 8 of 10, and a clutch of high-recommend tags from Rock Paper Shotgun and others. The audience read is consistent. Players who want building and exploration before combat depth, who tolerate Early Access cadence, who want to carve a refuge into a mountain and run a 16-player Flame Altar with friends — this is their game for the 2024-to-2026 window. Players who play survival for raw combat (Souls fans, Ninja Gaiden purists) or for narrative density (Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Disco Elysium) will feel the gap immediately and should look elsewhere.

One SKU, fall 2026 horizon, and the irreplaceable line

There is only one SKU — Early Access — with no DLC, no microtransactions, no battle pass, and every patch covered for owners. The pricing model is as clean as the studio's tone. Version 1.0 lands fall 2026 alongside PS5 and Xbox Series, so console players have a clear "wait for 1.0" path. PC players already on the Early Access track now get to walk the final stretch of pre-1.0 with Keen Games — and that means living through the Adventure Sharing system's transition from "share a build" to "share a full editor level," which is the substantive jump for the long arc.

Strip away the commercial numbers and the critical scores and the line that survives reads: an entire continent you can chisel and carve. Valheim, V Rising, Palworld, Nightingale, Lethal Company, Human Fall Flat — none of the peer set lets the world itself become editable on the scale Enshrouded offers. Keen Games promising "development will continue for years" in their 1.0 roadmap positions the title as a long-tail operation rather than a single product cycle, and across the Early Access cohort they are one of the very few studios that has actually kept that kind of promise patch by patch. Whether 1.0 makes them the next Valheim-scale long runner is the open question; what is already settled is that — as of mid 2026, in voxel-building and vertical-exploration co-op survival — nobody else has come this far. The 8.0 overall reflects that combination: an irreplaceable mechanical fingerprint, a clean studio model, and a thinner story-and-combat ceiling that keeps the score honest. If 1.0 lands the Adventure Sharing editor cleanly and the console builds maintain frame-rate parity, expect the next review pass to push the headline number toward 8.5, and a few outlets to round it up to a year-end recognition slot in the survival category.
