Ace Combat 8 Leak Points to 88GB Install and 3-Day Deluxe Early Access

According to PS data-mining blogger PlayStation Game Size, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Sifu has had its PS5 preload details surface: launch version 01.000.000, a full download size of 88.321GB, and a global unlock date of October 2, 2026. The latest entry in the Ace Combat series was first announced at TGA2025, and is due to launch on PC, PS5, and XSX.

For players, the edition split comes down to a blunt question: pay $20 for three days of early access, or wait. The Standard Edition costs $69.99, begins preload on September 30, 2026, and unlocks worldwide on October 2, 2026. The Deluxe Edition is priced at $89.99, begins preload on September 27, 2026, and grants early entry on September 29, 2026. In practical terms, those three days are not a free perk. They are a paid exchange for early access to the conversation, launch-week chatter, and some spoiler protection.

The 88.321GB PS5 download size, on its own, does not prove the game has more substance. It does, however, change what players need to do before launch. PS5 storage is not generous, especially for players who already keep large multiplayer games and open-world releases installed. Clearing space is a real pre-launch chore. The version number 01.000.000 also confirms this is the initial launch build, so the real question remains what happens after unlock: whether there is a day-one update, and how the game actually performs.

On the question of depth, Ace Combat is not the kind of map-level contest I usually associate with something like Civilization or Total War. Its appeal has always lived in mission rhythm, aircraft choice, and pressure in the air. A strong air-combat mission should feel like a timed tactical problem, where every turn, lock-on, and burst of acceleration matters. It should not rely only on spectacle to push the player forward. If Ace Combat 8: Wings of Sifu handles mission objectives, weapon loadouts, and enemy pressure well, then that 88.321GB footprint will feel easier to justify.

The issue is that the Deluxe Edition's three-day early access turns launch timing into a product feature. For story-focused players and long-time series fans, getting in early can have real value. For anyone trying to spend carefully, waiting until the Standard Edition unlocks on October 2, 2026 is the more rational move. The extra $20 does not buy a new core mechanic. It buys a time window, and that distinction matters.

My recommendation is to reserve more than 90GB of storage ahead of time, and for PS5 players with average network conditions, take advantage of the preload window. If you are a committed series fan and care about launch conversation or spoiler risk, the Deluxe Edition's three-day early access is defensible. If you care more about mission quality, AI behavior, and long-term content, the cleaner move is to wait for the Standard Edition and day-one impressions. The bigger risk is not being three days late. It is paying early before the game proves itself.
