Assassin's Creed 4 Remaster Adds HUD Customization, Naval Combat Interface Fully Toggleable
Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Memory Reset is in development, with a comprehensive HUD customization system offering four interface presets.

This feature earns an 8/10. It fixes a longstanding issue—no matter how good Black Flag looked in 2013, the screen clutter was relentless. Ubisoft finally gets it: Default, Clean, Minimal, and Full Disable modes let you hide enemy health bars, defense indicators, outline highlights, and alert icons at will.

Naval combat goes further. Ubisoft claims "full screen control returned to players," meaning you can strip the interface down to just the cannon firing arc. Sailing the Jackdaw through open water with nothing but waves and enemy ships in view—that's what the Caribbean should feel like. Compared to Origins' half-baked "immersive mode," this actually delivers.

The new parry mechanic being hideable is odd, though. If you're adding a system, why let players disable it? Either the team lacks confidence in the change, or they're pandering to purists. Still, having the option beats not having it.

This customization system justifies the "Reset" label. Back in 2013, Ubisoft was still copying Batman: Arkham's UI philosophy. Now they understand less is more. Veterans should be pleased, newcomers won't lose out. The real question is optimization—Black Flag was notorious for demanding specs back then.
