Removing Denuvo from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag - Memory Reset did not improve performance on the RTX 5090, according to tests published by GamerSky. The crack, created by a hacker using the alias “voices38,” removes Denuvo’s Hypervisor and modifies the game executable so it can run without disabling Windows security components. Under identical conditions, the cracked build performed slightly worse than the official version.

The test system used an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, an NVIDIA RTX 5090, and an Odyssey G80SD monitor. It ran Windows 11 Commercial Edition with NVIDIA driver 610.74. The game was tested at 3840×2160 with Ultra High settings, the highest Extended ray tracing preset, and NVIDIA DLAA, while frame generation was disabled.

The two versions performed almost identically. The official version averaged 71 FPS, peaked at 93 FPS, and rendered 9723 frames in total. The cracked version averaged 70 FPS, reached 91 FPS, and rendered 9677 frames.

The gap was therefore just 1 FPS on average, 2 FPS at the peak, and 46 frames over the test. All three figures fall within the margin of testing error. They do not indicate any performance advantage for the cracked version.

The crack’s technical changes are straightforward: “voices38” removed Denuvo’s Hypervisor and altered the executable so the game could operate without turning off Windows system security features. However, this benchmark shows that removing Denuvo did not produce higher frame rates on the RTX 5090 under this demanding 4K configuration.

The result also does not support the rumor that cracked games perform better after Denuvo is removed. In this test, the official and cracked versions were effectively tied, while the cracked build’s average frame rate was slightly lower.
