At Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Coin Crew Games and publisher iam8bit Presents showed more of Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, including a new demo covering the first two chapters. The build lets players enter the previously unseen science campus for the first time, meet Professor Von Bellini, and play the demo on Steam now.

The main shift is scale and structure, not just a higher room count. The first Escape Academy moved players from one escape room to the next; Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School keeps that core, but stretches it across a huge campus that can be explored more freely.
The science campus starts with two beginner puzzle rooms, and the current reveal runs through the end of a chemistry lab puzzle. That makes the demo feel less like a string of sealed rooms and more like a guided route through connected spaces. The series' escape-room design is still intact, but science experiments are now built directly into how the puzzles work.

The art campus has an equally clear hook. Its visual design draws heavily from Spanish architecture, and its named locations include Hall of Escapists, Workshop, The Monument of Escape, a costume shop, a dance studio, and a theater. It reads like a campus with a specific theme, rather than a simple expansion in room count.
The developer's line, "what is taught here is the art of escape," lands better in that context. With Professor Enora Chortkoff in charge, and her background tied to a failed performance, the area sounds more like a theatrical route through escape design than a traditional linear room sequence.

The bigger design tell is the sequel's attitude toward pressure. Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School supports solo play, online two-player co-op, and local split-screen co-op, while also adding an optional no-timer mode. That combination makes its audience fairly clear. This is still for players who like pulling apart mechanisms and reading a room carefully, but it is not only aimed at escape-room veterans who want a constant clock on their run.
That wider approach makes sense given the first game's reach. Escape Academy has already drawn more than 4 million players to try it, and the sequel appears to be making the format more approachable while expanding the playable space. DJ Doseone, who handled the music for the original game, is also returning.
For players who already liked the campus-based escape-room setup of Escape Academy, or who prefer two-player cooperative puzzle solving, there is enough here to keep an eye on. If all you want is a high-pressure timed clear, the optional no-timer mode may sound like a concession, but it also means the sequel is leaving room for different kinds of players.
Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is planned for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The demo is available now on Steam, giving players a chance to test the first two chapters and judge whether this broader version of campus escape design works for them.
