FF7 Remake trilogy finale progressing smoothly, airship confirmed playable
Final Fantasy VII Remake's trilogy finale is on track, with director Naoki Hamaguchi confirming to ComicBook that development is proceeding strictly on schedule. The third installment will feature airship content.

This reassures longtime fans who worried after Rebirth's expansive open world whether the third part might face delays or content cuts. Square Enix appears to have the pacing under control this time—Hamaguchi stated the three games will progressively expand gameplay scope while avoiding repetitive filler. Translation: no padding runtime with busywork like certain other titles.

The airship timing makes sense. Part one focused on Midgar, part two opened up overworld exploration, part three delivers airship freedom—a progression that matches what original players expect. If the remake captures that "the entire planet is mine" feeling from unlocking the airship in the 1997 version, that alone justifies the purchase.

The official title and release date remain unannounced. Given Square Enix's track record, expect news at some showcase next year. But knowing development hasn't derailed is already good news for fans who've waited years. In an era where delays and cut content have become routine, a project completing its planned trilogy is increasingly rare.
