Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake Announced for 2027

Ubisoft unveiled Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Chengdu and Ubisoft Shanghai, and it is planned for 2027 on Ubisoft+, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and PC. For longtime players, the real question is not the story but whether the remake can preserve the original rhythm.

The original Heroes of Might and Magic III was built on turn-based strategy, RPG hero progression, and grid-based tactical combat. Bringing that into a 3D world means more than a visual refresh, especially when Ubisoft is also adding free camera control, 4K support, dynamic lighting, real-time weather, and seasonal changes.

Content is also unusually complete. Ubisoft says the remake will include the original game, plus Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death, along with all nine classic factions and the original campaigns. It will also add a prologue campaign and new cutscenes. For series veterans, this is less a skin job than a full polish pass on the tactical foundation.

The multiplayer side looks practical rather than flashy. Ubisoft says the game will support up to eight players online, with improved matchmaking and a synchronous turn system, while keeping hot seat mode. That suggests the remake understands what matters most in a turn-based strategy game: not just spectacle, but keeping the pace intact.

It will also offer Simplified Chinese subtitles and full Chinese voice acting. For veterans, the smart move is to judge it by how faithfully it reproduces the original flow before deciding whether to buy at launch or wait for word of mouth. New players should probably wait to see how the multiplayer and Chinese voice work hold up in practice. Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete is already available on Steam, marking the first time the classic has appeared there.
