Onimusha’s official account appears hacked, is a new game preview event coming?
Capcom’s official Onimusha social account has now posted the same “hacked” crossover-style content tied to Diana from 识质存在, after similar posts already appeared on the official Resident Evil and Monster Hunter accounts. Capcom also confirmed on April 24, 2026 that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will hold offline trial events in May at Capcom-operated venues in Tokyo and Osaka.
I’ve always had mixed feelings about legacy IP revivals: high expectations, but strong caution. When a classic series truly recovers its identity, players feel it immediately. But recent years have also shown too many projects relying on nostalgia branding while failing to deliver real substance, and that eventually burns trust.

This “hack” on the Onimusha account is essentially part of Capcom’s ongoing narrative-style marketing sequence. Diana from 识质存在 first “invaded” Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, and now that thread extends to Onimusha, creating a cross-IP memory chain. It clearly boosts discussion, but that is only the opener; reputation will still be decided by hands-on combat feel, stage pacing, and battle feedback.

Beyond nostalgia, the harder news is the May offline trial. Holding it at Capcom-operated entertainment facilities in Tokyo and Osaka suggests the game has reached a stage where the team is willing to let players test it directly, which carries more weight than another trailer drop. For an action title, trial impressions are the first real public ranking: hit impact, camera stability, and difficulty curve are all judged instantly and amplified by the community.

Even so, two core concerns remain. First, whether media impressions and player impressions after the trial are actually aligned. Second, whether Onimusha: Way of the Sword—positioned by Capcom as a major new IP release expected this year—can balance accessibility for newcomers with enough depth for longtime players. If it leans only on brand recognition, momentum may fade fast; if system depth and presentation both land, it has a real chance to earn long-term word of mouth like past classics.

For anyone tracking this game, the practical move is simple: watch the first wave of post-trial gameplay feedback in May, focus on combat loop and level completion quality, then decide on a day-one purchase. Nostalgia can spark interest, but whether this deserves support will come down to how strong the game itself is.
