Secondhand PS5 Pro Prices Climb to 7000–8000 Yuan as GTA6 Hype Meets a Supply Squeeze

Secondhand PS5 Pro listings on Xianyu and other Chinese resale platforms have climbed into the 7000 to 8000 yuan range, with near-mint units and disc-drive editions asking close to brand-new prices. Two forces are behind the squeeze: GTA6 launch expectations are pulling demand up, and supply is thinning out at the same time. Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki has said outright that the PS5 has entered the latter half of its lifecycle and that the company is no longer aggressively pushing hardware sales.

Full disclosure: I have several hundred hours of JRPG saves on a base PS5, and the Pro has been sitting on my must-buy list for a long time. Earlier this year, e-commerce subsidies had brand-new units down to 4000-5000 yuan, and I told myself to wait for an even lower price. Secondhand quotes now stand at 7000 to 8000 yuan. If you're not racing to be first into GTA6 at launch, buying secondhand at these prices is bad value. The markup alone would buy two or three brand-new JRPGs — a trade that only works out for the seller. With GTA6's release date still unconfirmed and supply still tight, prices will likely stay in this range for a while. The smart move: sit tight and wait for official restocks or a major e-commerce sale.

Community sentiment is split down the middle — the same threads mix purchase flexes, regret posts, and people still on the fence. For a completionist, a console was never an investment; it's where the save files live.
