Red Dead Redemption physical edition hits PS5, undercuts digital by $10
Red Dead Redemption's PS5 physical disc is now available on Amazon and other retailers for $29.99—$10 cheaper than the $39.99 digital version on PlayStation Store. The disc includes the base game and the standalone Undead Nightmare expansion, with support for 60fps gameplay, HDR, DualSense haptic feedback, and native 4K resolution.

That $10 gap brings back memories of hunting for disc deals. Digital is convenient, but at this price point, physical saves you enough for two burgers. More importantly, PS4 disc owners can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, with save data transferring seamlessly—a genuine bonus for returning players.
Rockstar has essentially re-released the old map with modern polish. Since the May 2010 launch on PS3 and Xbox 360, I've crossed this frontier countless times, yet each return reveals something new—a cave I missed, random NPC dialogue I never caught. That lingering sense of discovery is what makes open-world games worth revisiting.
Amazon is also selling PS4 and Switch physical copies at $29.99. The PS4 version recently dropped to $24.99, but the PS5's visual upgrades and controller feedback justify the extra $5. Gambling, bounty hunting, gunfights—these mechanics hold up today, and the map's density and detail surpass many newer releases.
Beyond this map, GTA 6's November 2026 release date looms larger. How many secrets will Rockstar bury in that new world? Will it be another decade-long playground? Physical disc owners at least won't worry about server shutdowns erasing their game. Climb over that ridge and there's a whole story waiting on the other side—that's what open worlds should deliver.
