“Guerrilla Games' lush action RPG expands the hunting loop with intricate mechanical beast dismantling and weapon switching across a vibrant, visually stunning open world in this Complete Edition.”

Nuestro veredicto

If you're about to pour dozens of hours into Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, the most important thing is to first figure out what you actually want from an open world. If you want linear narrative shoving you forward the whole way, this may not be the most flavorful fit. But if you want a sci-fi hunting world that's solid enough, gorgeous enough, and absorbing enough to genuinely soak up your time, then its hit rate is very high.

Aloy in the wilds of the Forbidden West

Why It Works

The truly valuable thing here isn't that any single element is overwhelmingly spectacular. It's that several core links bite together tightly. The visuals handle attraction, the combat manufactures the addiction, the content volume handles retention, and the worldview keeps all of it from being mere busywork. The long-range weak-point loop is the engine, but it only matters because the world around it gives every takedown a reason to exist. Pull any one pillar out and the whole thing wobbles; leave them together and they reinforce one another in a way that's genuinely hard to put down.

That interlock is the game's real achievement. Plenty of open worlds nail one or two of those pillars; this one gets all four working in concert. The central GAIA-recovery mainline supplies the spine, the systems supply the depth, and the presentation supplies the pull. None of it stands alone as the single best in its category, but the sum is more coherent and more durable than the parts would suggest. It's the rare big-budget open world where the design feels considered rather than assembled, where the pieces were clearly built to talk to each other instead of merely coexisting on the same map.

The Cost, and the Verdict

It isn't without cost. There are a lot of systems, and you have to learn them early. The size is large, so the mid-to-late game can tire you out. And across different platforms and hardware setups, the visual performance still varies. But these issues feel more like thresholds and expenses than fatal wounds. Compared to its own predecessor, the original Zero Dawn, this sequel thickens the combat, traversal, and sheer scale across the board, which makes the costs easier to forgive. Where the first game proved the concept, this one fills it out, and almost every system that felt thin before now has real depth behind it.

Clear those hurdles and what you get is a hard-quality work that's well suited to long-term investment. So, is it worth your time? Yes. The condition is that you're willing to accept it isn't fast food you swallow in one bite, but a hearty, generous full meal you have to eat slowly. It won't dazzle you with every single mouthful, but finish the whole thing and you'll feel full, and satisfied. Settle in, take your time, and let the Forbidden West do its slow, deliberate work on you. Go in expecting a marathon rather than a sprint, and it will reward the patience with one of the most complete open worlds on the platform.
