UPDATE2: After more than a year I came back to see if anything changed and no, the game keeps having the same flaws it had a year before so I still don't recommend the game at all, got bored after 1 min of returning to it, plus my savefile had been magically wiped and I'm not spending time again in that unbearable skill tree, no sir. UPDATE: After last patch, game has become barely unbeatable when trying to get solo X towers achievements due to needing extreme luck on map generation, passives, etc. After having completed 1 and 2 lanes already and given the fact that 3 lanes is just not fun bc its pure luck too and you relay on the aspects I mentioned earlier heavily, achievement hunting is what I was trying to do and even that is almost impossible past round 40 with the stupid amount of summonings. I really think the dev is just cancelling opinions on his game and not listening to his community. I've kept playing thanks to a modder that implemented a Speed Control mod (Thunderstore) which makes the game more playable (and which doesn't cause any lag as the dev said in his FAQ lol). At this point I have not a lot of hope for this title since updates since launch have been bland, with little to zero new content, and just making system which were already difficult, harder. I think the developer really needs to shift his mindset in order for this game to live long, because if not most players will be bored after 10-20 hours of playthrough. And even worse, they will probably end burnt, which will translate on them not coming back to play in the future. I really want to recommend the game, for real. I didn't hesitated when I payed the full price for this. I'm a long-time fan of Tower Defense games and when I saw that Roguelike TD was being developed I was really excited (I always thought of doing a project like this in the future). Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, you can sink some decent hours onto it, but after you've discovered the whole tech tree and played 5-10 runs (which last for 1-2 h if you manage to get to the latter levels) you have seen the whole game, and that is not something that should happen on a full-price/full-release game, but more on an Early Access game, which is what this game feels like on its current state. I'll add some positives now and some negatives: + Nice variety of towers (although some feel boring or weak af whilst others are OP as heck, but well, balancing is always a problem in TD games and could be worked on PS: I'd love a Barracks tower Kingdom Rush style) + Nice ost (not epic but fits the game well) + Gameplay feels good and you can generate some fun death zones that let you feel overpowered. - No powerup/upgrade variety: many of the runs feel the same as all the towers have the same kind of upgrades (+1/+2/+3 DMG to HP/Armor/Shield - 25% chance to Bleed/Poison/Burn - +X Range). Upgrades feel a bit lame and could be developed a bit more, Things like Tesla attacks chain, or flamethrowers create flame paths, freezing towers having chance to freeze totally and shatter enemies...) Idk, this doesn't have the appeal some other roguelike/lites have, since powerups are too plain and simple. - No speed up button, dev says and I'm literally quoting him from his FAQ: 'Speed up buttons are bad design (in this case). Since a tower defense game is mainly idling while your towers do the work. The player is primarily playing an overseer meaning that an increased game speed doesn't make the game more challenging or dramatic for the player. This means that a x2 speed up button is really the new game speed and the "normal speed" becomes slow mode. The game is designed to feel, look, run and play well at the speed it does. Adding a speed up button will only degrade all of those aspects of the game as everyone rides the x2 speed to play faster.'............. Man, I'm starting to doubt the dev has even played his own game because most runs become unbearably long and boring just from staring at the enemies cross a gian path till they get to your towers, as maps are randomly generated, you could have your tower's death zone at the end of the path and have to wait the whooooole path for the enemies to get there, Trust me, it's annoying, boring and really bad game design, idk how the dev sees it this way but it clearly differs from what everyone else thinks. - Menus, font, UI, terrain, camera-movement most of the aspects of the game need tweaks, the font is awful and doesn't fit the game, the terrain should have different colors for different heights, targetting is a so hard to manage when you have +10 towers and really time consuming... idk, there are just a huge load of QoL changes that need to be implemented - Price: the game, from my point of view, isn't worth 15$ (12.5€) at its current state, I will for sure update this if it comes to a point where I think it should be recommended but as of now I'd pay between 5-10 dollars at most for this. The Dev (a single person which I admire) has said he's gonna update the game although first update has almost sucked all the fun from the game almost removing crit mechanic, making most of the achievements for only ballista or ballista + other towers nearly impossible, and the 3-way map a complete game of luck. I really think the dev should stop a read these Negative reviews because they expose some key points the game should work on.Ver másVer menos
