Tencent secures ARC Raiders publishing rights for China, 2026 launch confirmed
ARC Raiders has quietly opened an official verified account on Douyin, attracting nearly a thousand followers—a modest number that masks a bigger shift. Since January 2025, the sci-fi shooter from Embark Studios has been region-locked in China on Steam and other international platforms, leading many to assume the game was dead on arrival here. Turns out, the lockout was strategic.

Nexon has signed a formal agreement with Tencent, granting exclusive publishing rights for mainland China. That means ARC Raiders isn't just coming—it's getting the full Tencent localization treatment. Core gameplay will remain intact, but expect adjustments to social systems and monetization, standard practice for Tencent-published titles. What specific local features get added is still unclear.

The timeline is set: a substantive Chinese server version is planned for 2026. Beyond Douyin, the game maintains an official Bilibili account with steady content updates. This multi-platform approach signals serious intent—sci-fi multiplayer shooters have a proven audience here, and ARC Raiders' mech-versus-player combat could carve out space if optimized properly.
The gap between lockout and launch, however, spans over a year. That's a long time to keep player interest alive, especially when Tencent's publishing track record comes with monetization baggage. Whether ARC Raiders retains its original feel or gets reshaped for the local market won't be clear until 2026. For now, the official accounts are live, which is at least acknowledgment that the wait has a destination.
