Fable 4 Delayed to 2027 as Preorders Open Early

Fable 4 has officially been delayed to February 23, 2027, and pre-orders are now live across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The delay is the headline, but the more useful detail is the firm date rather than another vague window. Every pre-order includes the Chicken Suit cosmetic, while current edition pricing runs from a $69.99 standard edition to a £189.99 collector's package.

A delay by itself is not a disaster. For players who care most about combat feel and overall polish, the real problem is waiting longer and still ending up with something unfinished. For now, the reassuring part is that this announcement at least avoids hiding behind a broad launch window. The date is locked: February 23, 2027.

The pre-order bonuses are simple enough. Anyone who buys early gets the Chicken Suit cosmetic, which fits the series' playful streak. But a skin is still just a skin. The more useful question is which edition makes sense.

For the standard edition, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently listed at Best Buy for $69.99. That is standard AAA pricing right now, with no meaningful extras attached. The Deluxe Edition costs £89.99 / $89.99 and includes a digital artbook, the original soundtrack, several exclusive cosmetic outfits, and the extra "Heroes Guild" DLC unlocked after finishing the game. It also comes with 5 days of early access. In 2025, that kind of head start is a standard premium perk: nice to have, but not a deciding factor on its own.

Players who prefer collecting physical discs can also pre-order on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. On the Xbox side, there is also a separate Fable Collector's Edition priced at £189.99. It includes the base game, all of the deluxe edition's digital content, plus a Jack of Blades character statue, a hardcover art book, a custom steelbook, and a Guild sigil pin. No matter which version you buy, the Chicken Suit cosmetic is still included.

The practical takeaway is simple. If you just want the full game, the $69.99 standard edition is enough and does not look overpriced by current standards. If you are especially invested in the setting, art, or physical extras, then the deluxe and collector's editions make more sense. Pre-ordering purely for the Chicken Suit, though, is hard to treat as a must-have move when the full release is still a long way off and there is still plenty we do not know.

A delay announcement landing alongside pre-orders has become a familiar pattern: open pre-orders first, then fill in the footage, details, and confidence later. For anyone who cares more about how the game actually plays and how complete it feels than marketing cadence, the delay itself is not the issue. A half-finished game is. If Fable 4 uses the extra time to arrive polished in 2027, the extra wait will feel justified. If not, players are unlikely to be forgiving.
