Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition Hits PS5 on October 1, Still Unconfirmed

According to PlayStation, Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition will launch for PS5 on October 1 to mark the first anniversary of Ghost of Yotei. The package includes the full base game, multiplayer mode, and two new expansions. The more useful question is who this package is actually for.

The package is easy to parse. For newcomers and players who skipped the DLC, Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition cuts down the usual DLC confusion. One purchase gets you the campaign, online play, and the new add-ons without having to work out which pass or upgrade you missed.

The bigger story expansion is Echoes of Sekigahara, the more substantial of the two additions. It uses a two-track narrative structure, adds a new valley region, and revisits past events around the Battle of Sekigahara. PlayStation also lists new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and cosmetic dyes, so the DLC is not just a story chapter. Players who care about scenery, gear, and visual customization get more than plot here.

The second expansion, Most Wanted, is a single-player roguelite survival mode. Players take on bounties, run stages, defeat enemies, and unlock perk modifiers and playable characters. That structure makes it better suited to shorter sessions than a full story chapter. If you want something to clear in pieces instead of starting another long narrative arc, this is likely the easier mode to dip into.

Pricing mostly depends on whether you already own the game. Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition is priced at $69.99, which makes sense as a complete purchase for new players. Existing owners can buy a $14.99 upgrade pack that includes all DLC and Deluxe Edition exclusive items. Anyone who pre-orders before September 30 can also unlock the Sakai Clan Armor, a tribute to Ghost of Tsushima, ahead of time.

The most player-friendly part of the announcement is separate from the paid edition. A free major update arrives for all players on October 1. That patch adds a Mount Yotei scenery screensaver mode, armor appearance transmog, high-contrast accessibility options, and other improvements. The game will also receive Watanabe Mode music, photo stickers, New Game Plus appearances, and a full trophy set tied to the new content.

The value split is fairly clear. If you never bought the base game and already want this particular open-world samurai game, Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition is the simplest version to buy. If you already own the game and still want the new story content and roguelite mode, the $14.99 upgrade is the more practical route. If all you want is to return for scenery, photos, and a few quality-of-life improvements, wait for the free October 1 patch first.
