Resident Evil 9 reaches 7 million sales, actor visits Capcom as fans await DLC

Resident Evil 9: Requiem has crossed 7 million copies sold worldwide since its February 2026 launch, making it the fastest title in franchise history to reach that milestone. The milestone arrives alongside news that Nick Apostolides, the actor behind protagonist Leon S. Kennedy in both this entry and the Resident Evil 2 remake, visited Capcom's Osaka headquarters—meeting with producer Kouji Nakanishi, sharing drinks, and posing for photos with the development team.

Capcom described the visit as a "casual meetup," declining to elaborate on specifics.

On its surface, actors maintaining ties with studio leadership is unremarkable—industry professionals frequently tour headquarters as part of contract renewals or promotional obligations. But Apostolides carries particular weight with the community; his performance as Leon in the Resident Evil 2 remake earned consistent praise, and his return for Requiem was met with enthusiasm. That context transforms a routine office visit into something fans will read into.

The timing adds fuel. Standard DLC development cycles for major AAA titles typically kick off six to twelve months post-launch, which means Requiem—released in February—now sits squarely in that planning window. If Capcom has a content expansion in the works, this would be the period when creative decisions are taking shape. Fan speculation isn't baseless.

That said, "casual visit" is not a binding announcement. Actors tour studios regularly without subsequent involvement in new projects—the information gap between what happens behind closed doors and what the public learns is substantial in this industry.

For now, the visit functions as a signal rather than a confirmation. At minimum, it suggests that in Nakanishi's calculus, Leon's future remains on the board. Whether that translates into Resident Evil 9 DLC, a sequel, or nothing at all requires waiting for Capcom's next move.
