Is a new *Resident Evil* title on the way? Wesker’s voice actor sparks heated speculation with a new post
Promising.
It has been two years since the release of Resident Evil 4: Remake. Capcom posted a commemorative tweet. The key point was not the look back. The key point was that question. What is Leon doing now.
That line felt very much like a test. Not an official announcement. But not something written casually either. Veteran players all know. When a question gets tossed out at a moment like this. It usually kicks off the next round of hype-building.

What is even more sensitive is what came after. Wesker’s voice actor, Craig Burnatowski, reposted the content. He mentioned that he had auditioned for a “mysterious game” in 2022. Only later did he find out. That he had joined this epic series.
Taken on its own. That statement can only prove one thing. He did indeed participate in a Resident Evil-related project. That part is nothing new. Because he had already voiced Wesker in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Before that, he had also done voice work and motion capture for Resident Evil Outbreak in 2003. Returning after twenty years. Was already a story in itself.

What really heated up the discussion. Was the timing. The official account had just asked about Leon’s current situation. Then the voice actor came out and added this bit about a “mysterious project.” Naturally, players started thinking about a new title. In the comments section. Some hoped he would continue playing Wesker. Some guessed Resident Evil 5 Remake. Others bet on a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
Neither of those guesses is far-fetched. Resident Evil 5 is closely tied to Wesker to begin with. If Code Veronica gets remade. Wesker would still have a notable presence there as well. And insider Dusk Golem had previously mentioned. That the Code Veronica remake might give Wesker more screen time. That makes the speculation feel even more credible.

But having said that. It is still only speculation for now. There has been no official confirmation. No project title. No platform. No release window. To treat this as a teaser. Is still too early.
My personal judgment is simple. Capcom is very likely continuing to push the remake line. Because that line is the safest. The risk is low. The audience is clear. And Wesker is already a ready-made selling point. If it really comes down to choosing between the two. Resident Evil 5 Remake has the higher commercial priority. Code Veronica, on the other hand, feels more like a reward for longtime fans.
The advice for players is simple too. Don’t start celebrating just yet. Wait for official news. If you only care about where the new title is headed. This is worth paying attention to. If you’ve already started imagining the plot and release date. Then you are overthinking it.
What Resident Evil is best at right now. Is not revealing the answer. It is setting the discussion on fire first. This time. It pulled it off again.
