This War of Mine rebuilt from scratch 12 years later as 11 bit reconstructs from zero
11 bit Studios has announced Project P15, a ground-up reconstruction of This War of Mine that launched twelve years ago in 2014.

This isn't a resolution bump or UI refresh. The studio explicitly calls P15 a "complete reimagining" of the original, rebuilt from the foundation up. This War of Mine scored 8.4 on IGN and earned solid Metacritic reviews at launch, then got a Final Cut edition in 2022. Now 11 bit is tearing down their own flagship title and starting over.

According to official statements, P15 sits in the same category as Frostpunk 1886—not a remaster, but a "modern and innovative interpretation." That suggests major changes to gameplay systems and narrative structure, not just an engine swap with HD textures. How the original's core experience of survival in ruins and moral choices will evolve remains unclear.

11 bit also promises "sustained post-launch support," unusual for single-player narrative games. Given their track record with the Frostpunk series, P15 might follow a long-tail content model with DLC or free updates expanding the war stories. The project is still in development with no release date announced, so revisiting humanity's struggle in wartime could take another year or two.
