The TiPlus9100 Has Arrived: This PCIe 5.0 Flagship Really Delivers a Speed Boost This Time
Worth considering, but don’t rush to place an order just yet. This time, ZhiTai has officially brought the TiPlus series into the PCIe 5.0 era, and the direction is clearly the right one.
On April 17, 2026, ZhiTai released the TiPlus9100, with a very clear positioning: the new PCIe 5.0 flagship in the lineup. It uses YMTC’s Xtacking 4.0 architecture flash memory, delivering sequential read speeds of up to 12,000MB/s, sequential write speeds of up to 10,700MB/s, and random read/write performance of up to 1850K IOPS. More importantly, these numbers are achieved without a dedicated DRAM cache design, which makes the on-paper performance genuinely impressive.

For gamers, the value of this kind of product is very straightforward. Large game installations, updates, decompression, and asset transfers all become faster, and heavy users will be able to feel the difference. For people working with high-bitrate video editing, complex projects, and AIGC, the higher throughput is also more valuable than that of typical PCIe 4.0 drives. The official description may be a bit all-encompassing, but at least the target audience is accurately identified.
What’s really worth paying attention to is another point. The biggest criticism of PCIe 5.0 SSDs over the past two years has never been that they aren’t fast enough, but rather their heat, power consumption, and compatibility pressure. This time, ZhiTai emphasizes that through firmware algorithm optimization, it reduces power consumption under heavy loads and improves thermal control, while also adopting a single-sided integrated PCB design. This allows it to fit into gaming laptops, thin-and-light laptops, and DIY desktops. The thinking here is correct, because being able to install it and keep temperatures under control matters more than squeezing out a little extra benchmark performance.

On the software side, nothing is missing either. Tianshu Master can handle performance testing, scan optimization, and system migration, while also providing real-time monitoring of drive health, temperature, and lifespan. SSDs are no longer the kind of component you buy and then forget about, so having a complete management tool at least lowers the barrier for long-term use. I don’t care much about the upgraded appearance and packaging—that’s secondary. Performance and stability are what really matter.
The buying advice is also simple. If you’re still using an older PCIe 3.0 drive, or if your capacity is already running tight, a new flagship like the TiPlus9100 is worth paying attention to. But if you already have a mature PCIe 4.0 primary drive, such as the TiPlus7100s from the same brand, then this may not be an upgrade you need to make immediately—especially when pricing has not yet fully settled, in which case waiting is the smarter move. PCIe 5.0 has reached the stage where it’s reasonable to buy, but it’s still not quite at the point of being a no-brainer until the final pricing and long-term reputation are clear.

Finally, looking at the product information, the TiPlus9100 is available in three versions: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. It has already opened for pre-sale at the ZhiTai JD self-operated flagship store, with official sales starting on April 24. My judgment is straightforward: this is not a gimmick product, but a flagship SSD that pushes performance, thermal control, and device compatibility forward together. What remains now is to see whether the price is aggressive enough.
