007 First Light PS5 file size revealed at 50GB, but is that enough?
According to PlayStation Game Size, 007 First Light has now had its PS5 preload details exposed, including a 50.799GB download size, version 01.005.000, a preload date of May 24, 2026, and a full unlock on May 26, 2026. Developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind Hitman, this spy action-adventure centers on the younger years of James Bond, Britain’s elite 007 agent. The game launches on PS5, XSX, and Switch2 on May 26, 2026, with the PC version following on May 27, 2026.

The practical takeaway is that this is a fairly complete leak. We now have the file size, the version number, and clear timing for both pre-download and release. At 50.799GB, the PS5 build does not look excessive for a big-budget title built around a young Bond story. More importantly, PS5 players will be able to preload two days early, which means they should be ready to jump in right when the game unlocks on May 26, 2026.
The IO Interactive name also makes the comparison easy. A lot of players will naturally connect 007 First Light with Hitman, and that makes sense: both sit in the broad space of stealth, infiltration, and identity-driven spy fantasy. So while a storage-size reveal is minor news on paper, it still signals something useful. The release pipeline is clearly moving into its final confirmation stage, and for players interested in a Bond game, that feels more tangible than another promotional image.

Looking at the platform schedule, 007 First Light arrives first on PS5, XSX, and Switch2 on May 26, 2026, while PC gets it a day later on May 27, 2026. That kind of rollout is almost guaranteed to spark discussion, especially among PC players who want to be there at launch and will be watching that 24-hour gap closely. Even so, the fact that the console-side details surfaced first suggests that, at least for marketing and preload timing, the PS5 version is currently the most transparent one.
From a buying-advice perspective, anyone already planning to play on console and working with limited storage should probably start clearing about 60GB now, just to leave some buffer room for follow-up patches. If you care more about day-one stability, version 01.005.000 is also a reminder that this is not arriving in a truly barebones launch state, and that the day-one patch and later optimization will still be worth watching. As for whether it is worth buying at release, that still comes down to one question: do you buy into IO Interactive telling an origin-style story about a younger James Bond?

My read is that this reveal works like a very standard opening puzzle. It does not give away the whole answer, but it does tell you the size of the stage. 50.799GB suggests 007 First Light is at least not ballooning into something absurdly oversized, while the preload and unlock dates make it easier for players to plan around May 24, 2026, May 26, 2026, and for PC players, May 27, 2026. What matters next is whether IO Interactive can turn the level design, stealth pacing, and spy storytelling it built up through Hitman into something that genuinely feels like a new 007 game.
