Red Desert: Is Demian Just for Show? Multi-Protagonist Design Falls Short of GTA5

Like Blitzkrieg strategies from World War II, having multiple protagonists should offer tactical advantages. However, in Red Desert, Demian cannot use key skills, as if disarmed. Players found she can only participate in limited content, with restrictions on both main and side quests. This design makes one doubt whether Pearl Abyss has properly planned their deployment.

In terms of implementation, the benchmark should be GTA5 or Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In those titles, switching characters is as smooth as deploying different troop types in combat. Here, however, Demian is like a female version of Cliff, lacking independent combat capabilities. Some players bluntly stated that even if this character were removed, no one would notice. This radical modification makes the multi-protagonist mode seem immature and a waste of resources.

On a tactical level, the community suggests it would be more reasonable to change her to a temporarily controllable companion. After all, if forced dual protagonists cannot coordinate, it is better to concentrate firepower on a single focus.
