Diablo 4's King of Hatred expansion launched with a Steam concurrent player peak of 29,998—topping the March Season 12 record but signaling cooler reception than last year's blockbuster.
This marks the biggest content drop since October 2024's Vessel of Hatred. Blizzard added two undisclosed classes and extensive gear options for build diversity. The 6% player increase pales against Vessel of Hatred's 87% surge, suggesting diminished momentum despite the scope.
Blizzard partnered with Korn on the metal-themed trailer "Reward the Scars" to court hardcore fans. Steam reviews remain mixed, reflecting ongoing disputes over content value and pricing.
Veterans should try the new classes, but expect incremental improvements rather than Vessel of Hatred-level innovation. New players: wait for discounts or broader community consensus. A 30k peak is respectable, yet modest for a Blizzard flagship—the franchise's pull isn't what it used to be.
