Phantom Blade Zero Preorders Are Live, With the Real Test Coming in October
Phantom Blade Zero, the Chinese-made wuxia action game developed and published by S-GAME, will reveal its price and open preorders at 10:00 on August 12, 2026, ahead of its October 29 launch on PC and PS5. S-GAME is also releasing a new 11-minute gameplay video today, offering the next proper look at its premise: a swordsman whose heart has been gravely damaged, leaving him only 66 days to uncover the truth and break a conspiracy hanging over the martial world.
I have a built-in skepticism toward Chinese-made wuxia action games. Anyone who grew up around Chinese RPGs has seen both sides of that lineage: the romance of sword-riding fantasy, and the disappointment of rushed, rough-edged releases. What has made Phantom Blade Zero stand out over the years is not just that its combat looks sharp, but that it still puts the idea of the martial world front and center.

Today's update is a sizable one. The official plan is clear: price reveal, preorder launch, and a fresh 11-minute gameplay showcase, all at 10:00 today. The protagonist setup also has the pull of old wuxia fiction. He has suffered a catastrophic wound to the heart, has only 66 days left to live, and still has to pursue the truth while unraveling a conspiracy hanging over the martial world. That kind of doomed journey carries the classic Chinese single-player mood of fate pressing down on every step.
The more intriguing detail came from producer "Soulframe" Liang Qiwei, who posted an update at 6:00 this morning, saying he had gotten up at six to catch a flight and hoped it would not be delayed. Liang has kept a relatively low profile throughout the development of Phantom Blade Zero, rarely making much noise on social media, so the post naturally drew speculation. Based on the IP location shown on Weibo, he was still in Beijing when he posted, and Beijing is also where S-GAME is based. Some players now think he may be heading to Shanghai for an offline media presentation, but for now that remains player speculation, not an official announcement.
For all the speculation, the main thing to watch remains today's 11-minute gameplay video. Liang previously hinted that he had finished recording State of Play material in the United States, and several Bilibili uploaders have recently implied that they had already seen the new gameplay demo in advance. Interest is already rising, but Chinese players have been burned too often by games that looked spectacular in demos and fell apart at release. I would rather see Phantom Blade Zero prove itself through feel, level design, and enemy design than rely only on sharp camera work and stylish moves.
