Is *Like a Dragon 8* worth it at just HK$155 in the PS Hong Kong Spring Sale?

The new round of PlayStation Hong Kong Store’s Spring Sale is now live, running until April 22. At times like this, the question is never simply “Is there a discount?” but whether the discount has dropped to a reasonable price range for the product. Objectively speaking, this lineup includes both deluxe editions of newer releases and more mature titles that have already moved past their launch premium stage, making it better suited to selective, tiered filtering rather than tossing everything into your cart at once.

Let’s start with a few more representative prices. The deluxe edition of Like a Dragon 8 is discounted to HK$155.40, the Digital Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy is down to HK$94.20, and the deluxe edition of Forza Horizon 5 is priced at HK$222.0 after discount. These three tiers essentially cover the budget range of most players. From a value-for-money perspective, the HK$94 and HK$155 tiers are the most competitive: the former is close to the cost of a small-to-mid-sized indie game, while the latter feels like a clearance price for a highly polished game-of-the-year-style edition.

If we shift our attention to the higher-priced bracket, things become less consistent. The Digital Deluxe Edition of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is HK$306.60, the Phantom Edition of Battlefield 6 is HK$591.75, the Digital Deluxe Edition of Code Vein 2 is HK$524.25, and the Digital Deluxe Edition of Digimon Story: Time Stranger is HK$559.20. The common thread here is that these are all higher-spec editions, and the issue is equally straightforward: whether the deluxe content justifies the price difference. For most players focused mainly on the core campaign experience, anything above HK$300 is already in the “buy only if you’re clearly interested” zone, while anything above HK$500 feels more like spending territory for day-one loyalists or series fans.

From a strategic standpoint, this promotion feels more like an inventory structure adjustment: the lower-priced titles are there to attract new buyers, while the mid-to-high-priced ones are meant to maintain product positioning. A title like Hogwarts Legacy, now down to HK$94.20, has a very low barrier to entry and is well suited for players who were previously waiting on a price drop; the deluxe edition of Like a Dragon 8 at HK$155.40 is also in a relatively comfortable spot, retaining the scale of a blockbuster without carrying too much trial-and-error cost. By contrast, deluxe editions priced above HK$500, such as Battlefield 6 and Digimon Story: Time Stranger, currently feel more like “buy it if you really like it” rather than “buy it just because it’s on sale.”

The buying advice is also fairly clear. If your goal is to pick up a few well-reviewed, content-complete big-budget titles on a limited budget, then the higher-priority choices in this Spring Sale are clearly Hogwarts Legacy, Like a Dragon 8, and Forza Horizon 5. If you’re eyeing newer releases that still carry brand premium, such as Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, then it makes sense to jump in only if you’re comfortable with the HK$306.60 price point; if you’re simply drawn in by the “Deluxe Edition” label, it may be better to wait a bit longer. The sale page is already live on the PlayStation Hong Kong Store, and the event will continue until April 22. There’s no extreme time pressure, but the closer it gets to the end, the more important it becomes to narrow your choices based on budget and preference.
