The Arena says it will turn SNK’s classic game catalog into an interconnected South Town multimedia universe, starting with Fatal Fury and expanding across film, TV, animation, and comics. The first wave includes a live-action Fatal Fury movie written by David S. Goyer, a Geese Howard spinoff film titled Geese, and the animated series Fatal Fury: The Vow, which is planned for free release on YouTube. Financial backing comes from Saudi Arabia’s MiSK Group and MBC Media.
Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Metal Slug, and Samurai Shodown have long shared overlap in fans’ minds, even if those connections were never formalized on screen. The Arena is now trying to turn those loose associations into a multimedia universe with a clearer shape.
It also makes sense that the first announced screen projects are centered on Fatal Fury. The live-action film, written by David S. Goyer, will follow brothers Terry Bogard and Andy Bogard as they seek revenge for their adoptive father and take on South Town crime boss Geese Howard. It is a practical starting point. Instead of rushing into a flashy crossover, the plan appears to begin with the clearest throughline available: establish the characters, the grudge, and the power structure first.
The more revealing move may be Geese. Geese Howard is getting a standalone spinoff film, with a tone reportedly inspired by The Godfather and Joker, and Grant Singer attached to direct. For a franchise where the villain often defines the setting by force of personality, that matters. A shared universe only works if its antagonists feel rooted in a world with its own rules and history.
Just as notable is Skybound Entertainment’s animated series Fatal Fury: The Vow, which will cover the Bogard brothers’ younger training years and is planned to stream free on YouTube. That is an accessible on-ramp. Animation is often the easiest way to establish a world for newcomers, and a free release lowers the barrier further.
Beyond Fatal Fury, The Arena also plans adaptations of Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown, though no concrete details have been announced yet. Art of Fighting will get a Webtoon by cartoonist Brandon Chen, and it is expected to be the first project from this universe to launch. That suggests a staggered strategy rather than an all-at-once push, with film, animation, and comics serving different entry points.

There is still an obvious risk. The Arena describes its overall production style as adult-focused “muscular prestige” content, which is certainly a clear pitch. Whether that leads to something genuinely textured or just surface-level intensity is another question. In the end, the community is unlikely to care most about how big the South Town universe sounds in a press pitch. What matters is whether these first Fatal Fury projects can make South Town feel worth revisiting. If that works, then the world of Samurai Shodown and the chaotic energy of Metal Slug will have room to expand outward.
