There are a couple of things I like about this game. It's good that you can choose your pronouns including custom ones. The music is palatable for being on repeat. The computer interface outside of the chatroom is cute and even has a couple little games, though they're not very fun to play for more than a few seconds (slow-mo pong?). The idea of something really good is there, and I think the creator can take these and improve upon them to add more life to future VNs and similar games. The art is also of good quality. But when it comes to what really matters for a VN -- the writing and story -- it falls not just flat but concave. I can't stomach the writing. It's really juvenile. Playing this feels like role-playing on deviantart profile comments, and not in any conceivably good way. The MC is supposed to be a working adult but behaves like a 14 year-old who's encountered their first ever hot emo boy, who has nothing going for him besides being supposedly hot. The response to the situation doesn't make sense. I don't see why my character should be flirting with him immediately, or at least why that should be the only option. Why can't I be suspicious of some guy who's forcibly installed software on my computer and claims he wants to kill me? The dialogue options give you a range of choices from thinking he's hot, to thinking he's hot in more words, and you are forced to act on it. From practically the very beginning there are very few dialogue options that aren't outright flirtatious, and even the least flirtatious ones get interpreted as flirting. Visually he's pretty average-looking to me (not ugly but I'm not drooling at his appearance), so I was hoping his personality would endear me to him, but he pretty much doesn't have one. Only a few minutes in you can call him "babygirl coded". We don't even know anything about him, there's nothing to have "code" in it at this point. It was like they just wanted to insert trendy lingo into it and hope people don't notice how it was based off nothing. So much of the dialogue is just bickering/flirting in circles, repeating the same things and not moving the story or developing the characters. There isn't much to either characters' personalities besides being deliberately annoying (and at some points abusive) at each other, specifically the MC to Grim. By day two the MC "flirts" about wanting to be his housewife and suggesting they want to strip him down and full-body bathe him. Hello? Who acts like this? And why am I being railroaded into acting like this in a customizable self-insert game? If you just want to sexually harass this jpeg of an anime dude then go for it I guess, but if you're looking for an actual story or interesting characters then you'll have to suffer through a lot to find not much of either of those things.Show moreShow less

A game where the love interest doesn't infantilize you, instead, YOU can do it to him! Poor guy's not "babygirl coded", he's talked down and disrespected by the player. Even if you pick the most sensible options, it's all in vain when the player choices are full of "I would NOT say that". Neither of the characters is particularly interesting, nor do they have much in common that'd make the romance click. It's all a back and forth of adorkable chat messages. Sure, writing style might be personal preference, but let's check the mechanics. (Got to say, the main writer's name makes me feel like this is some kind of double-sided self insert VN.) For some reason, most player dialogue is coded as a choice, while it's numbered, number keys don't work, neither does space when it's a single line. You have to manually click on each and every one of them, making the skip function less useful than it should be. The art is really nice, the gallery has cool extras, UI is a bit wonky at times, especially with the plush pop-up ad in the main menu, music got repetitive rather fast. The cutomization is extensive, one of the best in an f2p dating sim. Even the writing has its moments, but when your character is established as a working adult, why would they talk like a terminally online teenager?Show moreShow less

If you care about the plot and story, it's not for you. Neither character is well written enough to excuse the lack of plot either. The premise is pretty standard: you were supposed to die ages ago but you're special so the Grim Reaper has to take your soul personally. It wasn't written in an enjoyable way or with the studio's own take on the trope. It didn't feel like I worked for the romance either. Sure Grim is 'babygirl' and all but you're basically flirting for the sake of flirting. The player and Grim have no chemistry and the romance feels forced, especially when the game events only spans for a week. The transition to becoming a couple was too rushed and had little development. I got Ending 3 where it's mentioned that Grim broke many rules to be with the player but there were no stakes at all because of the lack of world building too. A bit of Grim Reaper lore was established, but again, it didn't matter because he threw everything away so easily to be with the player - no stakes. Also the skip function is useless. The player only speaks through dialogue options instead having their own text box which lowers the replayability.Show moreShow less

I can definitely see the appeal for this game. It has an interesting premise and to have the grim reaper as a dorky love interest sounds great. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the execution. I want to admit that the game does look beautiful (from the UI to the art) and that it’s obvious that so much work has done for a FREE game. However, that doesn’t distract me enough to be totally positive about the experience. Because, outside of the aesthetic, the game doesn’t really have much going for it. With a self-insert MC, I’m expecting to blown way by LI himself. However, Grim is sadly not really an engaging character — only written to be a trope than to be a dimensional character to get invested in and want to love. (I should’ve known the moment when MC calls him a “babygirl”.) I didn’t find myself interested in him and the few revelations of him felt unoriginal and basic. I did find the banter between him and MC amusing, but after a couple of days, it starts to get repetitive and lacks any interesting development in romance besides the whole MC “isn’t like other girls” which was… meh all around. From that, the romance between them frankly is cute but overall felt forced and superficial. (Plus, the bet is nothing special but a reason for them to talk, which fine but eh.) Noting the little things, I also found the game a bit of slog to get through technical wise. I am a fast reader and even increasing the automatic text speed didn’t do anything, strangely. Also, when choices comes up during the video calls, the fade-ins for them are incredibly slow. In addition, the customization feature is great. I love the options available and they all look nice on our MC. BUT! I would’ve loved if there were more afro-textured hairstyles. Only having 3, with one not even having a proper matching front and back to go with it, was okay, I guess… Honestly, I had hoped to see more styles, especially given how the marketing itself kept portraying the black/brown skin tones when promoting this feature. Not having the afro-textured hairstyles is something I’ve grown accustomed to in games that has a customization feature. But, I wanted to point it out in this circumstance due the marketing of it. (Even looking at the DLC, it doesn’t seem to offer any other styles.) Overall, I do see why people liked the game. It's harmless and cute but pretty subpar, imo.Show moreShow less

It's... fine, if you're looking for a quick and free dating sim fix. Feels more like a "date my OC isn't he sooo babygirl" game than anything. A lot of the dialogue is very cringey, and not just endearingly so. UI is rough, story isn't all that compelling, and the lack of a skip makes me not want to replay.Show moreShow less
