After my third playthrough I'm mainly disappointed by the lack of choice. A lot of things are just set in stone, no matter what you choose. For example, the main girl (Megan) is forced on you and it seems your character falls in love with her no mater what you do or who else you want to pick. The traits you pick at the beginning have minimal use. Also, not a big fan of the drama, SPOILERS AHEAD .your best friend who you develop a bond with throughout the game has cancer and dies in certain routes, .another woman you know/interact with dies from cancer, .one girl is abused, gets beaten up a few times and walks around with a bruised eye, .there's drug use, violence and abuse, .one of the girls will intentionally kill your best friend in certain routes, .the Main Character gets really mentally messed up at one point, .if you go for both the main girl and her best friend for the three-way ending you cant save them both so one of them dies and the other one blames you and more, much more not what I was expecting from this sort of game. Overall it's not a terrible game (it definitely makes you feel for the girls and their troubles) but for me it's 'fapping with an unfun story and a bittersweet ending' and the other comments seemed to praise the game so much at the time that I was expecting something with a better, more fun story. In conclusion I would not recommend Acting Lessons if you're in a dark place in your life or if you're looking for this sort of game but with a light, funny or fun story, instead I would recommend looking at: Fetish Locator (great game full of fetishes as per title, like a lot of fetishes), Being a D.I. K (got the whole college vibe down), College Kings (similar to Being a D.I. K but free and with less content atm but steadily getting there), Sisterly Lust (incest is wincest) + Tales from the Unending Void (same dev, free on their website), Man of the House (light fun, has three-way relationship(s) <3), Cockwork Industries (well animated and interesting), City of Broken Dreams (intrigue and drama in the plot but nothing like Acting Lessons) College Bound (free and really interesting, plenty of content and scenes, lots of fun in the first 2 episodes), Come Home (free, lots of fun and I <3 the dev for wanting to create a drama-free fun game with some interesting choices), Dreams of Desire (loving a good story with a twist), Welcome to Free Will (free, fun, lots of potential and sexyness but only one sex scene in episode1) and House Party (waiting for more content but currently it looks very promising).Show moreShow less
I bought this game thinking that why not, its a porn game with good looking women and probably some sort of story behind all the sex. I'll play through it at some point in next couple weeks. What ended up happening was that I tried the game and I couldn't stop until I finished it. Thanks to its actually amazing story. The story was a emotional roller coaster. I felt joy, anger, sadness, horny, confused and curios during the story. I cried, both tears of sadness and tears of joy. Story actually deals with real issues in life, you come across character(s) with mental issues, financial issues, medical issues and all of them have a good story to tell. I haven't seen all of it with this amount of play time, finished it once and now I want to see what more other characters have to offer to the story. 100% will recommend this game to anyone who is interested in story driven games. TLDR; Bought it because it had pretty girls in screenshots, stayed because of the story.Show moreShow less
I did not like the game simply because I found the ending too depressing. I don't like to see girls hurt in anyway. And I personally would never be unfaithful to any woman I was with. But this game I really don't understand what the game wants you to do. I tried to get the Leah as my girlfriend, but the game will not let that play out. I tried not to be romantic with Megan or Melissa, but they both fell in love anyway. well anyway I just didn't feel that I had much choice in the game. And I am not saying the game has bad writing, or a bad story or anything. Just feel these types of Adult games should be a bit more about fun and not real life... real life can be hard enough as it is.Show moreShow less
Please follow United Critics for quality reviews Acting Lessons Review Not Actual Lessons Dr. PinkCake’s games have a reputation for possessing an amazing storyline & actually good visuals. He released only two games till now; Acting Lessons & Being a ♥♥♥ (which has 2 seasons as of now). I have reviewed Being a ♥♥♥ Season 1 & Being a ♥♥♥ Season 2! Now, let’s jump into the review! About This Game Storyline VNs put a lot of emphasis on the game’s plot. As I stated in my previous VN reviews, minimal gameplay mechanics exist. Dr. PinkCake makes amazing storylines for his games. If I am right, this was his first game on Steam through which he gained a lot of popularity. You get to name the main character (His default name is Jonas Redfield). This allows you to be the main character of the game! :) The game’s plot goes something like this: Could a regular guy who moves to a new town discover a lot of new excitement in his life? To move on from his problematic past and if he’s lucky enough, maybe even find the love of his life? The main character, through whose eyes we see the story, is about to meet a slew of new people and experience a slew of new events. Some were good, even amazing, while others may have left him with mental scars for the rest of his life. The storyline spans for about 6 to 6.5 hours. If I am right, there are 10 endings. This means that your choices have a huge impact throughout the gameplay. It also adds a lot of replayability to the game since you can try the other choices to get the other endings! Why is the story worth the trouble? It’s not an all-out sexual experience. There are a lot of emotions & drama involved. Variety exists in the game’s mood. People would come to this game for the NSFW Sexual content but I am sure they will stay for the story. Be careful, you might get emotionally attached to a character! :) Oh, this is a must-play if you are ever planning to play Being a ♥♥♥! Gameplay Mechanics There isn't much gameplay content in this apart from the player getting to choose dialogue options & other choice-making moments. Basically, the usual VN elements. Nothing unique in this segment unlike Being a ♥♥♥ which has a lot of mini-games! Probably the shortest gameplay segment in all of my reviews lol. Visuals & Audio Apart from the storyline, the visuals & audios play a vital role in VN games. Yes, Acting Lessons has amazing visuals. The character models are properly detailed & the animations are flawless. I’ve not experienced any of the characters clipping through other characters or objects. Many other VNs have this issue which kills the game’s mood. The soundtracks they use are vibe-worthy. I wish they added voiceovers for the game’s dialogues. It would’ve added a lot of life to the game. All-in-all, the game has amazing visual & audio design. Pros A storyline filled with a lot of emotions apart from sexual content. A single playthrough takes around 6-6.5 hours. It has a high replayability rate since the game has 10 endings. The character models & animations are amazing. The soundtrack selection adds a lot of life to the game. Cons Yep, you guessed it! This game is flawless in my books. I faced no issues throughout my gameplay. Your gameplay experience may vary. Conclusion The reviews on the game’s page don’t lie. This game doesn’t have overwhelmingly positive reviews for no reason. I highly recommend playing this game & then playing Being a ♥♥♥! It is surely worth the full price but you can buy it during a sale to save some money. Rating: 10/10 For full review head over to our websiteShow moreShow less
While the first rule of improv is to always say yes, sometimes you should actually trust your gut and say no. A cuckolded and brain injured former frat boy cryptocurrency-trader shelters both a homeless pig-tailed struggling actress and her homeless, abused, and drug-addled best friend with a nose ring. Along the way he eats strangely modeled food, meets some strangely modeled people, drinks way too many shots, goes clubbing where he finds himself tempted by drunken self-hating college girls with chlamydia, goes hot-tubbing in a teeny-tiny bathing suit, sleeps around without any prior consideration for birth control or his own protection, punches two guys (affectionately named ♥♥♥♥ and Peter), learns that his incredibly immature best friend has Hodgkin's lymphoma but cannot pay his medical bills let alone his rent or his car payments, stays at a lake cabin with a blue haired girl and a gaggle of nymphomaniacs, rides in a rented road-rules style RV, gets tricked into swallowing pills for erectile dysfunction, takes a unnerving painting class with nude models, sees a crappy play, sees an even crappier band, lets his friend (with presumably low platelet counts) risk head injury while crowd surfing, reconsiders trying to deliver a brown paper bag filled with actual human feces to a former college room-mate who is now in a wheelchair, and joins a free theater improv class so that he can have flashbacks. He eventually confronts his selfish former fiancee and finally "gets closure." Meanwhile, the pig-tailed actress gets the lead part in a D-listed version of Tomb Raider. By the end his claptrap house burns down, one of the homeless hotties dies, an evil stepfather gets his karmic comeuppance, a corrupt cop is caught, a petty crook goes to jail, and an obsessive former nurse kidnaps him but is killed with a leftover handgun. To deal with his dizzyingly traumatic soap-opera fuelled life, he enters hypnosis-based therapy without ever mentioning the unfortunate tattoo etched in cursive on his artfully shaved chest or the incredibly inept and unethical care that he and his best friend continue to receive at the local hospital. Instead he struggles with nascent and hackneyed feelings while somehow managing in his fragile medicated state not to sleep with his impeccably tailored nubile therapist who, as it happens, also turns out to be blue-haired smurf girl's impossibly young mom. Perhaps he has grown up and learned something after all. Or, more likely, this is an inartful slow-moving trainwreck of a story where your choices don't actually matter.Show moreShow less

I'll be honest. The story is well thought out with twists and turns. The writer is clearly competent. The sex scenes are...okay? For a 3D game? But lets get down to the nitty gritty. If you don't pick Megan, the semi-random clerk that you decide to help when she gets evicted from her apartment, the entire game is a guilt fest. Megan this, Megan that, what about Megan, how would Megan feel about this? As if the developer had never heard of a plutonic roommate. Even one of her acting friends Rena says, in response to you saying you're not a couple, "Well she's clearly quite smitten with you." ...Okay??? So what? What if I'M not interested in her? Well, of course that can't be the case, because the story forces you to have feelings for her no matter what. The first playthrough, I went with the Megan route because I'm a sad sack of traditional ♥♥♥♥. And it went REALLY well. Even had me nearly crying at the sweetness of the ending. And how everything came together so perfectly. It's obvious, even before you start the game, that you're supposed to follow that storyline. I get it. HOWEVER. The game tries to play both sides simultaneously, saying "stay faithful to Megan" but also, "Look at all these girls and galleries you haven't explored yet! There's 6+ different endings to explore!" Then when you explore those routes, you deal with heartbreak and skepticism nearly the entire way. Even your male best friend is wary of you exploring anyone other than your destined soulmate. 4/10 For the writing and pacing of the game, but also for the enormous guilt trip you will inevitably get for exploring other sides of the story.Show moreShow less
I wish I never played the games, then I would have been able to experience this phenomenal game again, just like a good movie that you want to see again and again, because it's so good. Play without cheating or tips or go back and change, just like the reality. You'll have a great story in front of you and It will be a memory of a lifetime. it is not suprisingly why the game is so highly rated. Just play it and You will not regret your choice, 10/10Show moreShow less
Despite how much screen shots(3500) I got from this game I still don't recommend this game and here's why: The games pushes Megan on you from the get go. You can say no to everyone else but you can not say no to being in a relationship with her or just plainly speak your thoughts about your feelings for the other cast members. No matter what your character do he will always be talking about Megan. At least to me it doesn't make sense how fast the main character fell for Megan. Some time later in the game it make sense because of how much focus is on her, but you can say the same thing would have happen to any of the characters if they had Megan's screen time. Man If I was in this situation, I wouldn't have kept it a secret. I also wouldn't have developed feelings for Megan that fast. Regardless of the situation. The thing between you and Megan is pushed too hard. So with that in mind I decided to go the threesome route with her and Melissa, because Rena will not keep seeing me if I'm seeing the other girls but could careless about me sleeping with most of the cast because my character said he wants to be with her..only for the game to throw Leah at me. Whether you gave her no, some, or full on attention she will come to destroy the fantasy you had laid out for the future with a BS fire scene and her k.o. needle. At that point the game tells you no three way for you please choose between the two laying on the floor before you. If you went for Rena, dare I say back to Ana, or one of the girls the choice doesn't seem that hard, but remember we chose the threesome route so you will be torn here. If that fire scene look more spread and out of control then the choosing option would have made sense here but you expect me to believe Mc couldn't get both girls out of there. I mean was the athletic trait (out of 3 traits) that was given in the beginning of the game just to make you have a "nice body" for the girls. I also find it funny how Leah got the jump on both girls and depending on who you saved the other in the flash back sitting position is swapped so that they never see her coming. If you save Megan, Melissa is the one who sees her and if you save Melissa, Megan is the one who sees her.. Ridiculous XD. Its sad what goes on with Liam, Melissa, and Megan, but the second half (or the 3 last chapters) of this game will leave you with a bittersweet feeling mix with anger.Show moreShow less
