Firstly. Sorry for This long review. I could have left a negative review because of the bugs i have encountered so far as there is no Neutral reviewing button on steam. It would be unfair of me to leave a negative review because i have kinda enjoyed the 21 hours in game so far. I have quit out of the game many times through pure frustration whilst delivering a cargo only for it to be not accepted, or i have backed the trailer up for delivery and it to go from 100% intact to zero in seconds and got no reward for the delivery. Or the Ai traffic demolishing your load and your facing fines through no fault of your own. 20 minutes later i find myself back in game because it really does have a lot of potential and i am wanting to do another delivery. Sadistic "i know" but this game is scratching that itch for me. I really do like the micro managements of "YOU" the trucker. Making sure your rested and fed. The awesome aspect of maintaining your truck for those long deliveries ahead of you. Failure to look after yourself and your truck can kill you. Being on foot to go to the store to buy more food or parts to maintain your health/truck is a great feature. The game has had its problems and i have encountered many bugs. Is this a let down, Yes it is. Does this game deserve the many negative reviews its already received. Some people have experienced game breaking bugs. Fortunately i have not and the Devs are working hard to fix this game. I have not had crashes or fatal errors or used my backup save. The game has worked flawlessly for me so yes i am fortunate. This is a small team of developers and i can see where they want to take us all. I can see their vision and i am with them on this journey. I don`t want to blow smoke out of the Devs arses but let me say this. Since releasing this game The Dev team have released 8 big subsequent daily patches. They are fixing this game and squashing the bugs fast. I paid £17.22 for this game and the Devs have worked so hard on releasing the patches ,Even Releasing patches on a Sunday and you will never get that from the big gaming studios. This shows the love from the Dev team to sort this game out and Squash the bugs with additional game fixes. It also shows how much of a buggy mess this game was released in and there fixing it with huge patch updates. Since creating a new game profile after the first patch i have been lucky and Have not encountered as many bugs. The Ai traffic still needs a lot of attention and a good in game feature allows you to turn the Ai off I have switched the Ai off for now until its fixed properly. Another reason for turning off the Ai is this. I had to deliver some pipes and the road navigator sent me on a narrow road that had so many tight bends on it, tight left then right then left and right, these bends were constant and very tight. It was near impossible to navigate the truck and trailer round these bends. Having to take corners wide and meeting Ai that wont yield for you meant that i either clipped them or hit them with the back of my trailer causing truck and cargo damage. After this encounter i turned the Ai off. Again the Devs announced that they are reworking the Ai. They need to rework some of the roads too as i found that some roads are totally unrealistic to drive a longer trailer on them. Another bug i am encountering is the seasons. It goes from spring, summer and back to spring. I have not seen winter yet. Is this a bad thing ?. To most people yes. Seasons should work as seasons. I look at it this way, I want more money in my bank. I want to purchase more Food, Jackets, snow coats and tyre chains to keep me from freezing my arse off. I don`t want to freeze and die on the Dalton highway. Indecently . I drove the Dalton at night and it dropped to -5 and it got very slippery without chains. Imagine -70 . Hmmm . I like Spring and summer.. I have a Logitech G25 and G27 and this game worked without any issues and without the need to install GHUB. I started the game and it was just a case of setting up the wheel and re-configuring some keys and i have had no issues at all with using these wheels pedals and shifters. I bought the mother trucker edition and did not realise i had another truck . I was using the default truck and using it for delivering. I bought a new parking space at my HQ and parked the default truck in it and got the mother truck out from the cobwebs. Wow i have 2 trucks , I Did a few delivery's with the new truck and went back to my HQ and the default truck has vanished. wish i had known, Ide have sold it to buy new jackets.....joking aside, I am annoyed and want my truck returned Devs. There is no record of me ever owning the truck when accessing the HQ computer... I am sure i locked it up.... TOP TIP... For those who buy a second truck in the game. Make sure you sell the other truck and you will get its sale price. Failure to do this will mean when you park the second truck and leave the yard . On your return to the HQ the truck vanishes from the parking zone . The DEVS are aware of this bug and are in the process of fixing it... My biggest gripe about this game is the micro stutters and fps drops when travelling up the Dalton highway. My fps can be at 70+ then drop as low as 20 then immediately go back to 60+ again and i use a MSI RTX 3070. I did see lots of bears, wolves and deer whilst travelling up there. I have many thousands of hours in ETS2 and Snowrunner and both of those games had new DLC released. ETS has the new Balkans and Snowrunner has the new Season 11 DLC. Alaska road truckers was also released and i decided to buy this game over the other 2 dlcs. I wanted to see full interaction with the gaming environment in ETS2 for years and still waiting to see it. I am experiencing winter time now in game and all i can say is "Brutal" The windscreen freezes up so you leave the warmth of the cab to scrape the ice from the screen.Your driver becomes cold and starts shivering as you watch the ice creep across your monitor screen.Big mistake, You go back to the cab to a cabinet to find a winter coat and leave the cab again to finish scraping the screen. Hes warmer now but still very cold, You notice your outside a garage and decide to enter it to buy a spiced coffee and some trail mix be for returning to the cab and continuing your journey. These are the interactions i have wanted to see in ETS 2. I drive with Ai traffic turned off and this game really does put you in Its environment. Your not just a truck but your a trucker. The Devs have something really special here already. Its not like ETS 2 where you drive from A to B on auto pilot. Fallen trees blocking the road have to be cleared with your trusty chainsaw. Alaskan road truckers has given me that interaction in every aspect, Its a lot more in depth. Cooking meals, resting, filling the truck with fuel, hitching the trailer, going to the store for food or the garage to pick up a tool kit. Interaction on repairing every part of the truck in your HQ. Wow , now i feel like a trucker. They have nailed it for me. I have no doubts in my mind that the Dev team love their game . Yes its a little buggy in places and yes it needs more patches but overall i have to be honest and say that i am enjoying the game. The speed of the patches being released will make this a totally different experience for many users in a month or two. Is Alaskan road truckers worth your money ?. Yes , Absolutely, The character / truck micro management alone got me hooked. However, Be Aware . There are many bugs and this game needs a lot of TLC be for it can become a great game. Great concept Devs, Keep up the good work and the patching and good luck with this game. -------------------------------------------------------------Show moreShow less

I am not sure where all the bugs that people are complaining about are. While I have encountered some hiccups here and there (this is to be expected from a small dev-team on a new game,) certainly nothing game-breaking. This game will be amazing once they get everything worked out. The majority of the negative reviews this game has received are unfounded and baseless (especially most of the Youtube reviews.) Many of the people complaining come off as the type of pansy's who need their mommy to cut the crust off their white-bread and/or are playing on some dog-sh!t hardware with their registry fu%#ed due to the free-p0rn sites they frequent. When you consider that "AAA" games are being released these days in a broken state (BF2042,) I believe that Alaskan Road Truckers is on the right track. Do not try to compare this game with ATS (after seven-years of updates) and say that it's sh!t (you will be disappointed.) Alaskan Road Truckers is a different beast, and certainly one worth investing in.Show moreShow less
It took me all but 26 minutes to request a refund on this. The Dev put 0 care into optimization, the most basic options such as unbinding keys is missing and "considered" to be added later, you have absolutely no customization option when it comes to your steering sensitivity which makes using a gamepad even worse than using mouse and keyboard, a partnered radio that believes interrupting a song every 30 seconds for a 5 word snippet of commentary and the drop that made me quit is the fact this game uses roughly 25% of my CPU yet hard locks its temperatures at 78°c no matter what graphics options you adjust, to what FPS you limit it (as low as 2) or even if you limit the resources the exe gets provided. The game does not care which to me screams the involvement of possible malicious background activity. No single game released yet has ever managed nor done this to my CPU, not even the latest releases or the most rugged indy game... Avoid this like the black plague until patches are out or the devs actually bother responding to issues that requires more effort than asking for hardware specs or "its not in the game but I'll write it down to consider it". And in case the Dev so graciously responds to this review to save face. Don't bother to ask me to join your discord either. Support the game on the platform you sell it, its already provides forums for you if you can't bother to have a website of your own.Show moreShow less
I don't do a lot of reviews but I just felt I needed to one for this game. This is a really fun game. It glitches sometimes but not enough to effect your game play experience. Plus the game devs are improving the game quite frequently. It is one of the most realistic Trucking games I have ever played. I recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun driving game.Show moreShow less
For now, I don't know what to think. There's definitely some things that need further development. Pro's: - More in-dept than ETS2/ATS, which is nice. - Actually being able to hook-up/unhook your trailer is nice, as well as the survival aspect around the game. - Nice interface for the trucks, being able to interact with your mouse (handbrake, doors etc) Con's: - AI traffic. Traffic does an emergency stop EVERYTIME you go from 55 mph to 15 mph speed limit. Normal traffic would slow down gradually, that is apparently not possible here. - Truck handling. If you drive 40/50 mph, you can barely turn. Of course you wouldn't be able to do a 90° turn IRL, but at least a slight bend should be possible without either going 90° with your wheel, or just not turning at all. Same goes for sudden loss of grip while braking. - Wheel support/setup. If I want to change my camera, I use my keyboard for it, however every time I change camera's, I have to let go of the throttle and redo it, since it doesn't register my wheel anymore, in addition, I have setup my D-PAD for my left/right mirror, however there is no option to go back to 'normal' cockpit view. It's a fun game, but it has some things that still need serious development in my opinion. EDIT 22Oct: - The AI traffic is still not how it is supposed to be. Driving max 25/35mph on a 55mph straight road. Also the emergency braking, especially while travelling through intersections.. - Playing with keeb and mouse, steering seems to be improved. I can make better turns now at 50mph than before. Still have to test it with a wheel. Other things I noticed in the meantime that need some attention: driving over a small hill with 45mph will absolutely launch your truck in the air, with damage as a result. This should not happen I think. All with all, I love it and I see a lot of potential. I would recommend to only buy it now if you don't get bothered that quickly, but since there are already 4 patches released in a week, I have faith that everything mentioned above will be fixed in due time.Show moreShow less
I've been searching for a game that allows me to unwind after a long day, and this game is exactly what I needed! Its unique puzzles and engaging storyline keep me hooked, while the visual effects and music create an incredible atmosphere. I'm really glad I found this game. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys intellectual challenges.Show moreShow less
THIS NEEDS TO STOP. INCOMPLETE AND/OR BROKEN GAMES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THIS PLATFORM. This Game Should not have been released as it is. Period. It is a broken clunky headache. IT HAS A FUN IDEA, that is ruined by bug after bug after bug. Everything feels rushed, every single aspect of this game feels rushed. I appreciate that the game was not full Price but to still charge people for something so incomplete seems like robbery in my opinion. I have had to restart from backups numerous times because of game breaking bugs such as in the cabin view the view was always skewed to the right no matter what I did and it had saved it that way so backup save was only option. Just drove another 400 miles in game right after that and while in my headquarters the PAID DLC TRUCK your charging people for disappeared entirely and I can hear it but not see it nor interact with it. Are you guys serious? AGAIN ONLY OPTION is to lose another hour of my time. This is after already looking past terrible frame drops where the truck drives straight until changing camera view to regain control which is causing accidents multiple times, Dumbest AI traffic I ever seen in a game, limited inventory with little explanation (do I need 1, 2 , or 4 tire chains?), Sightseeing objectives in a game that looks well not great to be nice in 2024, every time I have customized anything (3 times) it NEVER saves(still takes money though) and your stuck with giant BARS, HORNS, and SKULLS obstructing your view that you just can not remove for some reason if you choose the DLC PAID,PAID,PAID, and BROKEN,BROKEN,BROKEN TRUCKS. The most frustrating part is I do like the idea, but not at the cost of beating my head off the wall just to attempt to even play the game. Night 1 was fun and figured maybe it was me, night 2 was getting exhausting, and tonight I finally had enough after losing all my time twice in a row to no fault of my own while already looking past many many annoyances. I really hope to see this game get fixed but I will not get my hopes up on the simple fact it was released in the state it is in to begin with. I have fairly decent hardware as well before anyone blames that. Please do better. SPECS: 3900X with 3070 Master, m.2 gen 4 Drive. and 32gb DDR4.Show moreShow less
Alaskan Road Truckers is a game that shows promise. Today is launch day, as with any game, launch day or Day 1 is bound to have some bugs and performance issues. Seeing mixed reviews currently is discouraging because the indie dev team who made this game has put their heart and soul into it. I played the original "demo" and it was not bad, I've seen substantial improvements since the demo and the game seems a lot more polished. This means progress. Progress does not always mean perfection, and you have to keep that in mind. For the price of the game, it is very reasonable. The game shows a lot of promise. I did a YouTube video today: https://youtu.be/LaaXas08oZc and one of the things I mentioned was that you know, ATS and ETS2 or SnowRunner are all unique games and have their own place in your game library. Without a doubt, Alaskan Road Truckers will too! The game has a ton of potential and with time, and support, the dev team will continue to improve things. Try the game now at it's more than reasonable price. If you experience issues, jump in their Discord and share these issues with the team. If issues are properly reported, they have a chance to fix them. If they're not properly reported, well... we will be SOL.Show moreShow less
I wish I could recommend this game but sadly it's in a state where it shouldn't have been released yet. I really do like the concept of it, especially that you can leave your truck to hook up a trailer, refill fuel and go shopping for snacks and tools. In the truck you can look around to interact with the physical buttons, you can switch to your cabin to sleep or warm up a meal in the microwave, cool! The game also features the different seasons, though I can't tell the impact yet as it takes quite some time to progress to the next one. Unfortunately the experience is often ruined by the many issues, such as - wheel support is not working reliably and requires the use of "Logitech G Hub" software, even if you use a wheel that's not from Logitech - the game crashes in various scenarios (e.g. when you finish some missions or want to expand the headquarter) - the performance is pretty bad on potent hardware even when the visuals look rather outdated, also depending a lot on the daytime and weather, often the FPS gets lower the longer you play - the AI traffic does a lot of accidents and is painfully slow, so you always have to overtake them. You also can't push them away so sometimes you will get stuck if the road is blocked. They also suddenly brake whenever the speed limit changes - sometimes your truck randomly jumps off the road even though it is a straight lane without any obstacles - every time I restart the game some graphic settings seem to reset (DLSS is always re-enabled when I turn it off) I didn't expect to see SCS level of polish, knowing that this is a rather small team working on the game. But at the end of the day this is not an early access title but a full release and the amount of bugs and technical issues show that they knowingly released a somewhat broken game. They even hosted an open playtest a few weeks ago and still didn't delay the game when most issues could not have been addressed ever since. I would recommend to wait a few weeks to see if they are able to sort out most of the issues, since the potential is definitely there. The developers acknowledged the issues and are actively monitoring the forums. A first update was released a day later and more fixes are on the wayShow moreShow less
