It's really unfortunate because its so close to being an excellent game, then it throws it all away. It starts off as a really well thought out factory sim and shop keeper sim. Balancing the purchase and production of materials and goods with the profits they bring. But by mid/late game it turns into a slog where you can't seem to turn a profit until the cauldron takes over everything. Since for some reason, you can put in random garbage and get the material you want as output. Ruining the logic and flow of the game entirely. The processing structure is similar to games like Satisfactory and Factorio, which is a great start. But the games recipe list makes increasingly less sense, and feels artificially inflated to slow down progression. For example: Mushrooms: Produced as a byproduct of harvesting Rotten Logs. Expensive for the early game at 2 silver each, The log only gives 20% of its output as mushrooms. Meaning to scale production you have to spend massive amounts of money and space, and most of the output is byproduct. The game also never gives you a way to make this more efficiently, or with alternate methods (until cauldron) This happens more and more as you progress the game culminating at the cauldron. Completely breaking the progression of the game and making it so instead, you just combine some random non sensical garbage to get a thing. Example: Gloom Spores (the thing you turn mushrooms into) ingredients: Coke, Steel Gear, salt. Sulfur: Soap, Soap Powder, and Steel ingots. So if your looking to satisfy that that OCD and automate giant factories and max out profits... Don't. It only lasts half the game. Then you'll download someone's workshop build and realize there is no personalization left. There's just 1 good way, and the rest are unsustainable. TLDR: Turns from feeling like a well balanced Shop and Factory Sim into a gotcha with only 1 right answer.Show moreShow less
the urge to fit everything in a 5x4 block and optimize recusively-consumed coke powder output had me writing a python script to calculate the sum of a converging geometric series... 10/10 would recommend to all my AuDHD soulmatesShow moreShow less
Too tedious, not satisfying. I don’t think the game is bad overall, but the aspect that appealed to me the most — the factory — isn’t enjoyable enough. I still support the devs to continue developping and polishing the game, as I think the base is solid. Here is a quick summary : Good : - Shop management, similar to other shop simulator games - Progression system - Quests - The granularity of building (which also comes with drawbacks) - Some recipe ideas (like using fuel and plants to sustain production automatically) - The bridge bloc (loved it) Bad : - Building is very tedious : 1/ Placing blocs is slow and hotkeys (mostly juggling between placing/rotating, group delete and group copy) are not the most intuitive. This really weights down the gameplay when dismantling and rebuilding. 2/ Some blocs, like Conveyor lifters and Beams are really annoying to place. 3/ Problematic with scale. - There is too much manual inputs in the factory when I expected automation. The constant back and forth to refill raw materials or coins quickly becomes tiring. To be fair, real automation does exist, but it comes too late in the progression and is way too complex - Factories take a lot of space (relative to the size of a single bloc), which becomes even more problematic because building itself is tedious - Some recipes might require too many installations (for the sake of automation). While combination of multiple resources in each recipes is cool, they are overly complexe or require too much resources. - The music is bad. At least one track sounds AI-generated Misc : - Crouching keeps the character (camera) too high to be useful, and the reduced movement speed serves no real purpose - Running speed could be a bit faster - Didn't like being interrupted by the end of the day recap screen, but it isn't an issue eitherShow moreShow less
Factorio and Satisfactory player here. My wife will play this one with me. Huge ups for that!Show moreShow less
I want so much to like this game, I love games about running a little shop, and factory games. The game's progression limitations and ideas of how you will play are limited, limiting, and unobvious. There is an intended "how to play" which is inflexible and annoying. After 20 hours or so, I thought I was ready to finally make my "final" layout, giving myself the room I needed to build up, connect to other adjacent plots, and redo my store layout. I spent time lovingly planning out the spacing for logistics and shopping. And after a couple of hours of layout, as I started building up - I found I could not complete a second floor. Because the game had a secret "pillar" support not listed anywhere, which I needed to make proper additional floors. Which also, once I did unlock, required me to redo my entire layout. If the game is going to create limitations, they need to be communicated or enforced. So much of my time was wasted building layouts I needed to then tear back down because of some imposed limitation. I tried a second playthrough to be more conservative but the joy of automation is missing until you complete a substantial amount of the game. I can see why people say to actually ignore the shop part of the game until much later, if at all. Which sounds somewhat insane given the premise of the game. TLDR - Unfortunately, this game imposes a lot of arbitrary limits it will later remove. This means rebuilding your factory again, and again, and again. If you've played factory games before, it is fun when you the player realize you need to redo things as you learn and face challenges. Here, you'll do it when the game thinks you should. Everything you built? Yeah redo it ontop of these floors I finally let you make. Hey, everything you built? Yeah redo it around these support pillars I finally let you make. Whatever.Show moreShow less
Honestly, going into this game, I expected a little, somewhat short game about automating the brewing of various alchemical supplies. I did NOT expect how fleshed out it is, and while it isn't perfect (why are belts slower than advertised?) It is a Really really fun experience. This game is much more focused on building compactly, which is also obvious in the choice of building sizes, basically everything you build is tiny, transports tiny items, and seeing little catapults fling items across the map is a joy. The complexity is also fairly high, which for me is a big plus, though you can also just slap something together that just works if you don't enjoy a huge amount of complexity. My biggest issue is really the lack of Full automation for the planters in the early game, but that is solved later. You can also challenge yourself by going for one of the three absolutely bonkers achievements, clearing the game in 50 days, with no customers, or with only the starter plot. Or all three at once. Overall, I really enjoy this game, and often find myself thinking about how I'd rebuild parts of the factory even when I'm not playing.Show moreShow less
All I need to recommend this game to others is for there to be less penalty for refactoring your setup. It took me 20 minutes of picking up little bags and putting the contents into boxes after deleting my whole plot. A quick fix would be an unlimited/virtual box that can only receive items from deconstruction. Focus on fun.Show moreShow less
Positive: This game is a beautiful mixture of Satisfactory and Supermarket Simulator. Its a cosy experience with great pacing and steady expansion. Negative: To level up you need to maintain store reputation by maintaining stock of items customers want (similar to supermarket simulator's system) Currently i feel the punishment is too harsh for not maintaining as the reputation decays far too quickly. There is also no end of the day report for what customers wanted and couldn't find so you find yourself guessing unless you are fast enough to read their text as they walk out the shop. Overall this is a fantastic game that I'm confident will succeed with time.Show moreShow less
A very satisfying factory game with some of the automation you can design. I got VERY good at building incredibly complicated designs in a very compact space that looked stunning to watch flow. And the game itself has no hitches! Smooth as butter, zero drops in frames, I didn't encounter any glitches... genuinely well optimised - for me at least - in this moment. So why the negative review? UI is okay - house building definitely could be better! Look around your little village and it's stunning... and then buy a plot and watch as you destroy it and make it ugly... Like honestly, I don't want to buy space because it destroys the surroundings that I enjoy viewing! There needs to be more design elements so you can give back to what once-was. The main bad thing for me though - Why am I earning money? What is the point? There's absolutely no point. Beyond T2 / T3, you earn a lot of platinum quickly, but it turns out T4 costs multi-platinum per item. So I'm simply earning more to pay more to earn more to pay more to earn more to pay more to earn more to pay more to.... It's an utterly pointless cycle. It doesn't feel rewarding because there is literally no reward. And T4/T5 onwards is honestly just ridiculous!! Even some of T3 is ridiculous. It takes THOUSANDS of stone to make ONE T4 item. For literally no reason what so ever other than "difficulty". There is no difficulty in the game, it's just tedium after a point, unfortunately. The Alchemy, I think it's called, is the worst!!! An item that has a X% chance only of giving what you need is just meh! Now I have to calculate all of this nonsense output for no reason what so ever. I could just bin it, but... then I'm paying money knowing I'm binning... Oh I can't be bothered writing even now haha. I've just realised how little I care. I loved the game till T3, then I highly disliked it suddenly, sadly.Show moreShow less
