I love Alien Shooter and I highly recommend it if you want to play a nostalgic PC classic however do NOT buy it on Steam! This version has comes with two saves not made by the player called "Unnamed" and some Russian word. You also cannot name your own characters. If you create a save it will be named "Campaign". This was likely a test build of some kind that was put on steam instead of a final build. Thankfully a fully functioning version without these issues exists on GOG so go buy the game there. These issues have existed for years on the steam version as per this community disscussion and I cannot recommend this version until the game gets patched: https://steamcommunity.com/app/33100/discussions/0/1639801448919137814/Show moreShow less

OK, everybody knows this little game by now, I guess. So, there's no real reason for me to write a long detailed review. Still, for those who don't know about Alien Shooter, here's a little something. Alien Shooter is a small (about 20 megabytes) game where you kill aliens. The end. It looks pretty poor even for 2003 (the original release year), design is completely stolen from Biohazard (Resident Evil) games and Alien movie series, gameplay is unpolished as hell (nobody even tried to balance this game), controls are somewhat clunky, there's no proper story, but it'll run on toaster and there are hordes of aliens that'll explode like a corn in a popcorn maker. So, the game pretty much sucks and rocks at the same exact time. You'll die a lot, you'll wish it was made better, but still, you'll enjoy killing huge armies of aliens a lot. It's a simple fun, but still, it's a fun. The one you can enjoy at work. Some sort of the alternative for Minesweeper. So, even though I never really was a fan of this game, I don't want to go so far to throw the thumb down. But. There's a big reason for me to thumb this version down. Actually, it's the same reason I desided to write this little review and warn my friends about this version. The thing is, when you buy something in Steam, you expect it to be a full version of the game. Unfortunately, even though this game used to have two expansions that added story and more levels, and GOG version of the game includes both, in Steam you get only 10 levels of the main game. Nothing else. After you'll finish them all (if you're lucky, you can do that in less than 30 minutes), you'll get a message to visit the developers' website and buy the expansions manually. Yep, that's it, you can't even buy them in Steam separately. Not only you need to pay more, you can't even have the expansions in your Steam library. And that's, ladies and gentlemen, just suck. So, thumb up for the game, but thumb down for this exact release. If you really want to have a digital copy of Alien Shooter, buy it on GOG. This version totally not worth it. Especially since the price is almost the same with the full version from GOG.Show moreShow less

Get Alien Shooter: Revisited instead of this - it's a remake that fixes a lot of the bugs that prevent this version from playing correctly on modern systems.Show moreShow less

A very basic top down alien slaughtering game. There is really nothing special about this at all, enter one level, kill everything, pull some leavers to turn the lights on and unlock the door, move onto the next. That really is all there is to it. Each level gets harder and harder, well...you just get more and more Aliens thrown at you, but at the end of each level, you just upgrade you weapons and run on unlimited ammo most of the time anyway. Save your money if I were you, alot better games to spend your money and time on.Show moreShow less
