BE AWARE This is not Arma 4 This will not get you a discount on Arma 4 Currently only 12 months of support is planned This is just a MP demo bundled with development tools to allow modders the chance to port their content to the new engine prior to Arma 4. Having said that this is early yet but it feels like a larger step up from Arma 2 to 3 in a positive way while still being Arma. Gone is the scroll wheel menu all hail contextual interactions. I'm excited for the future of Arma based on this. Just wanted to help people know what they are getting. I found a very strange, in my opinion, statistics on the Arma Reforger, it says that 52 percent of Arma players are females, maybe I don’t know something? Have you ever met an Arma female player's in a game? I'm not asking for her or their nickname, just asking for a fact. (Updated for 1.0) What is(n't) ARMA Reforger? First off, this is not ARMA 4, nor is it meant to be. Most people downvoting this seem to be expecting ARMA 4 (which is estimated to release 2027). This is a multiplayer, "realistic" shooter, so don't expect substantial singleplayer content (including fleshed-out AI). But more importantly, this a much needed stepping stone in the franchise as the developers finally ditch the Real Virtuality 4 game engine and work toward bringing ARMA onto a modern platform. What Reforger (doesn't) offer, and why This approach to development has obvious cons, but it also has it's pros. Developing both good AND performance efficient AI takes time, considering it has to be built from scratch for the new engine. I much rather the developers spend several years on this endeavor instead of rushing to get it done. ARMA Reforger allows for front-end developers (along with modders) to push out content on a working platform while the back-end can be fleshed out. AFAIK, ARMA 4 will take place in the same setting as this title, allowing for content to be recycled (for better or for worse). All in all, I consider Reforger to be a decent compromise. Of course, we want a brand new ARMA title now, that looks like gold and runs like butter, but it's just not feasible. Transitioning to a new engine is not only a time-consuming endeavor, but requires a heap of testing and patching to get running stable. Compare, for example, the multiplayer stability of OFP and ARMA 2 to current-day ARMA 3. It took the developers over a decade across three titles to provide a functional, reliable, and fairly smooth multiplayer experience. ARMA Reforger will help to mitigate a similar experience for when ARMA 4 eventually releases. TL;DR While, ARMA Reforger does leave much to be desired for an ARMA title, it's important to remember this is not meant to be a sequel but a segue-way to a new evolution for the series. If you're looking for clan-based multiplayer operations or fleshed-out singleplayer experience, stick with ARMA 3. If you want to try out new and refurbished multiplayer gamemodes, or get introduced to the new engine, then purchase this title. Overall, the developers are putting a good amount of work into this title, and have been pretty transparent on most topics. I'd recommend hopping in the official discord and other social platforms if you want to see the forefront of the work and development.Show moreShow less

15 years old, playing Operation Flashpoint on my crappy Celeron PC with no dedicated GPU, the game ran poorly, but it made sense. 23 years old, playing ARMA 2 on my mid-range HD4870 equipped PC, game runs poorly but I guess it's doing more and it looks better. 28 years old, playing ARMA 3 on my top of the line GTX780. Game runs poorly, but hey, it's ARMA3 and it's amazing 39 years old, still playing ARMA 3, this time on a RTX4080 + 9800X3D. Game still runs poorly. Hmm. Almost 40, bought ARMA Reforger, RTX4080 + 9800X3D. Still runs like ♥♥♥♥. Some things aren't bound to change in my life time.
