Fun fact: It's called Assassin's Creed Mirage because from a distance it looks like a good gameShow moreShow less

As a hardcore Assassin's Creed fan for the last 10+ years this is gonna be the final Assassin's Creed game for me. At least it ends on a good note with nostalgia and a glimpse of glory that the first Assassin's Creed game had. Requiescat in Pace, Assassin's Creed (2007-2023). Message to Ubisoft: I won't be buying any new assassin's creed games since they are no longer being made for assassin's creed fans. Also, no support for steam customers. Ubisoft support didn't help me at all with last game crashing due to amazing ubi launcher incompatibility with steam, but they edited my Valhalla steam review to hide it from view. Anyway, enjoy your new modern audience "customers". Goodbye.Show moreShow less
Ubisoft used to be a company with good game ideas, lots of content and not everyone's pleaser, but they should sell their games somewhere else This Assassin's Creed is super short, they tried to go back to their roots, they didn't succeed at all. It seems they don't know how to make good quality games anymore. Everything is just a big miss, unfortunatly. The game can is just under 20 hours and is nothing more than a cheap attempt to get a quick $60. At least we got a discount on Steam! I hope that Ubisoft takes more time with the games and also reintroduces surveys in which players who actually play the game are asked what they want for a game instead of just listening to shareholders and the latest trends,Show moreShow less
(I originally played the game on Ubisoft Connect so the hours are not accurate) This game has me conflicted. AC Mirage is a game that tries to go back to the more traditional style of AC but everything doesn't entirely click. I think the parkour here is the best since Syndicate, which doesn't say much considering it was dumbed down in the RPG games. When it comes to stealth it's probably the best it has been in the series (outside of social stealth). The combat is basically non existent, which makes sense since they want you to focus more on stealth. The city of Baghdad is fantastic and I have no real criticism here. The level design of the city is made for parkour. The game is beautiful both in graphics and music, but the facial animations are what you'd expect from a Ubisoft game, they're ♥♥♥♥. Most disappointing aspect of the game is the story which I did expect more from but sadly I was left disappointed. Overall I did really like the game but also wanted more out of it. It's a step in the right direction, even though Ubisoft will entirely ignore this and continue with their RPGs games.Show moreShow less
A Disappointing Return to the Roots I finished Assassin's Creed Mirage on Ubisoft's launcher via a friend's account, and it was a big letdown. After Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which was their last great AAA game, Ubisoft's games have not been good. They keep putting out games with little to no effort, except for two amazing games such as Immortals Fenyx Rising and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. But most of their recent games, like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Riders Republic, Ghost Recon, XDefiant, Skull and Bones, Far Cry 5 & 6, Motorfest, Avatar, and Star Wars Outlaws have all been really disappointing. Sadly, Mirage is another one of these games. It feels sloppy and rushed, with not much to offer. Here's why: Bad Storytelling The story in Mirage is simply terrible. The cutscenes look cheap, the facial animations are stiff, the dialogue is boring, and the whole story is not interesting at all. The characters don’t have any originality, and the plot is too simple. It feels like Ubisoft didn't even bother to make the story good. Everything about it is lazy and soulless. Disappointing Gameplay The action in Mirage is shockingly bad. There are literally only two types of enemies in the game. The combat is very basic and bland. Upgrades, like gear and skill trees, are shallow. Combat is extremely repetitive, and it wears out in the first hour. The parkour is decent. The movement feels okay, but the animations are way dated. It’s nowhere near as good as it was in Unity. In fact, since Unity, no Assassin's Creed game has had parkour that felt as even closely satisfying. A Gorgeous But Lifeless Open World I have to give credit to Ubisoft for their environmental design. They are god-tier at creating beautiful cities. I have always loved exploring the different cities in each Assassin's Creed game; that's literally the main reason I enjoy the series and that's the only reason I will be replaying Mirage. I love looking at the amazing job Ubisoft pulls with their worlds. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350304324 In Mirage, needless to say; the city is stunning. Graphically, Mirage is very good, and the art and visual design elevate the experience. But the open world still feels bland and lifeless, like in most of the series. NPCs just walk around, and there's nothing interesting to interact with. There’s no exploration value; the world feels empty. It's really just there to place parkour paths for you to use. The world doesn’t feel alive or immersive, even though it looks very pretty. Same Repetitive Game Design The game design is the same thing Ubisoft has been doing since Far Cry 3. It's full of repetitive tasks, side activities, and level design that they keep reusing. But unlike some older games, Mirage doesn't do anything to make the repetitive design more enjoyable. The level design is okay, better than Valhalla, but still not that good. It works for stealth, but it doesn’t matter much because the AI is so dumb that there's no real challenge. Final Thoughts Assassin's Creed Mirage is another disappointing game in the series. It is a quick cash grab, made to get money from the old Assassin's Creed fans who don't like the new RPG style. Ubisoft had to release this game instead of waiting and making something good. It's clear they didn't want to go five years without a new Assassin's Creed game, so they put out a low-effort title to keep the series going, which is a shame. To sum it up: The good parts of the game are the environmental design, which is still top-notch, the music, and the game length, which is about 15 hours. While this is short among the newer Assassin's Creed games, it feels just right after the long and torturous experience of 80 hours of Valhalla. I want to thank Ubisoft for at least bringing their games back to Steam on day one. That's a good move, and I hope they keep doing it. But I also hope they start making more games like Immortals Fenyx Rising and Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. Those were really good and showed what Ubisoft can do when they try. I want their big AAA games to match the quality of those titles. Ubisoft still has time to bring their games back to what made them great, but they need to focus on quality, not just quantity. Assassin’s Creed Mirage brings the series back to its roots, which is great for anyone who loved the older games. Set in 9th-century Baghdad, this game feels like a throwback to the classic Assassin's Creed formula, focusing more on stealth, parkour, and assassinations rather than the huge RPG-style worlds from recent entries like Valhalla or Odyssey. What’s Good: 1. Awesome Setting: Baghdad looks stunning. The city is full of life, from busy markets to narrow alleyways and towering buildings. It’s not as big as some of the recent games, but it’s packed with detail and really gives you the vibe of the time period. 2. Stealth is Back: If you miss the days of sneaking around and planning the perfect kill, Mirage has you covered. It feels like old-school Assassin’s Creed—blend into crowds, parkour across rooftops, and use the environment to your advantage. The assassinations are a lot of fun to pull off. 3. Focused Story: The game follows Basim (you might remember him from Valhalla), and the story is much more tight and personal. It’s a straightforward, engaging plot without the massive bloat of side quests and grindy missions. 4. Simple Progression: Gone are the overwhelming RPG elements. You don’t have to worry about grinding levels or a huge skill tree. The upgrade system is much simpler, which makes the game feel more accessible and keeps the focus on the action. 5. Great Atmosphere: The sound, music, and voice acting all help create an immersive world. Whether you’re running across rooftops or walking through the crowded streets, the sound design really pulls you into the experience. What’s Not So Great: 1. Smaller Scale: If you loved the gigantic open worlds in the last few Assassin’s Creed games, this one might feel a bit small. The world is more compact, and there aren’t as many side activities to do. That said, the tighter focus works well for this kind of game. 2. Combat is Just Okay: While the stealth mechanics are solid, the combat isn’t very deep. It gets the job done, but it doesn’t have the complexity or challenge of some other action games. If you prefer fighting over sneaking, you might find the combat a bit repetitive. 3. Minor Bugs: There are a few bugs and technical issues, like frame drops in busy areas or the occasional visual glitch. Nothing too serious, but it can be a bit distracting at times. 4. Not Much New: Mirage is more of a return to basics than a game that introduces a lot of new stuff. It plays it safe, so if you’re looking for fresh ideas or big changes to the series, you might not find them here. Should You Play It? If you’ve been missing the older style of Assassin’s Creed, Mirage will feel like a breath of fresh air. It’s a shorter, more focused game that brings back the stealth and parkour we loved from the early days. However, if you prefer the giant open-world RPGs of recent games, this one might feel a bit too stripped down. Overall, it’s a solid return to form, but it’s not going to blow your mind with innovation. It’s great for a more focused, old-school assassin experience. Rating: 8/10Show moreShow less
As an AC fan from the beginning of the series, i was very excited at first to see what this "back to the original" AC would turn out. The results: Absolutely boring story and map exploration, extremely disappointing fights and assasination techniques, the classic parkour AC bugs (one would think after 15 years of AC games the movement this wouldn't be a major issue) and on top of all the story the main character was written out of pure laziness and zero effort of inspiration. After Valhalla I expected that there had to be some reason for switching the main story towards Basim but, as it clearly turns out, Ubisoft just wanted to make an AC game in the Middle East and nothing more. If you are an old AC fan, this game is a total rip off, was clearly made for short-term profit and has absolutely nothing to contribute in the story that made us love the series. P.S.: Please Ubisoft just let AC die peacefully. Create another story so that it's not painful anymore to watch you destroy it.Show moreShow less
