Battlefield peaked at BF3 in my opinion such a great game.Show moreShow less
I've had bf3 on Origin for years. When I saw that they had released it on Steam, I had assumed that meant they overhauled the game to have its own launcher instead of the battlelog web browser thing, like how they did with bf4. I also assumed it ran with its own servers through steam, instead of the community servers like TGBClan, with proper anti-cheat systems in place. So, I figured, hey, why not? Purchased it on steam under these assumptions, only to find that not only does it immediately prompt you to load the game through Origin, it also takes you straight to the battlelog web browser just like the Origin version does. So basically, I threw $10 dollars down the drain for the exact same version of the game I have on Origin. Sort of my bad, whoops. Shame on me, right? Well... to save myself from wasting $10 dollars, I refunded the steam version. I wish the story ended there. It does not. Upon refunding the Steam version of this game, it ALSO voided my Origin version of the game. When I go to play BF3 via Origin, it directs me immediately to the Steam page to purchase BF3. Origin no longer recognizes I own the game. So now wtf am I supposed to do? Heres a quick recap of the situation. -Bought BF3 on Origin several years ago at roughly $35. -Also bought the game on Steam for $10 dollars. -Refunded $10 Steam copy, since it is an exact copy of the Origin version. -$45 dollars spent on this game is just simply gone now. -Now I have to spend an additional $10 to play the game I already have spent $35 on. -I've been absolutely ripped the ♥♥♥♥ off Can't recommend this game to anyone who already owns in on Origin.Show moreShow less
NOTICE: game doesnt launch for most people Navigate to C: (or drive you have operating system on) ProgramData Electronic Arts EA Services License C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License Delete all license files then attempt launch. A fix customers should not have to do, a fix the devs should have put in. Anyway this is how I got the game to work. I've chosen to amend this review and recommend the game ONLY because another customer provided tech support to get it working. I am not giving Steam, EA or DICE any credit, praise or approval for this. The fact that when we buy the game, WE have to bug fix while EA takes our money and scrams... is absolutely infuriating, I paid them for a working game and I am the one who has to fix it, so many others gave up and refunded because they didn't know this ^. also this big fat t w a t stole my review, because people are nice like that not to leave a credit or name the original. All to knick a few likes off of me, he didnt even edit anything just copy pasted my stuff... https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197993070333/recommended/1238820/Show moreShow less
The game is awesome, unfortunately in order to play the SINGLE PLAYER campaign you have to... 1. Launch a separate launcher (EA App) 2. Link your Steam account to it. 3. Launch a browser!!!! 4. Play the campaign by clicking a button in the browser. 5. Be always online What a joke, Steam should take a stance against separate launchers on its platform.Show moreShow less
Tutorial: Not Review. To Play Online: - Install BF3, and Launch for First time - Allow installation of EA related software - Login/Create Origin Account when Prompted (rip) - Open & Log into "Battlelog" website using your Origin Account (Steam removes Links from Reviews) - Click "Multiplayer" tab & Refresh the List - Click a Server and click "Join Server" OR the Play Button next to the Server - It WILL fail the first time. - Close Battlelog tab. Reopen a tab and go back to Battlelog and now you can play multiplayer. I despise EA with a passion and their release of EA games to Steam is more than likely an effort to save their own platform by piggy backing off of Steam. However, I love the Battlefield games (up to 1) and Battlefield 3 was my childhood/teen game for literal years. Battlefield 3 still holds up both as my favorite FPS and Battlefield ever, it still looks amazing and runs amazing up to the present day, and every single weapon, vehicle, attachment, camoflage, is just as good now as it was almost 10 Years ago. Some of the Negative Reviews are simply people who can't figure out how to play multiplayer or gave up from lack of effort. The game itself is amazing. Just remember: It is still an EA/Origin game and they will always find a way to ♥♥♥♥ a miracle up. NOTES: - If you have a previous account from a console (I used to play on PS3 before switching to PC), you cannot play on that account on PC :( You'll be given a fresh soldier and fresh start as if you never played the game before (Unless you already have played the game on PC) EXTRA IMPORTANT EDIT: To make sure your Premium DLC is "seen" by BattleLog & FIX POSSIBLE LAUNCH BUG - After launching BF3 for the first time, Close out of BF3, Origin, and Steam. - Without launching Steam or Origin beforehand, go to BattleLog and join any server - Allow Battlelog to Launch Battlefield 3 and Origin and Steam from its own free will. - You may now exit the server you joined. YOU CAN NOW JOIN SERVERS THAT HOST DLC MAPS Please don't give up hope! This game deserves a revival! A detailed guide will be Published soon.Show moreShow less
I absolutely love Battlefield 3 and really wanted to revisit it again on Steam but there is a big problem and unbelievably it's not Origin - it is the heavily outdated and quite frankly horrendous Battlelog that still persists. To this day, it beggars belief how DICE thought it would be a good idea to run their entire game framework through an internet browser rather than having it integrated through the in-game menus like 99.99% of other titles in the past 25 years. This would have been a trendy feature in 1995 but in 2011 it was laughable. Today, it is borderline farcical. I tried playing the campaign earlier and I was unable to launch due to it being stuck on initialising - the long-winded recommended solutions from the past 9 years like disabling your AV, re-installing everything, choosing a different browser, removing firewall etc.. are just too much hassle if you just want to play the game. None worked in the end. BF3 will always go down as a legendary shooter and one that really deserved to topple MW3 back in the day. The implementation of Battlelog is one of the most baffling inclusions imaginable.Show moreShow less
I don't want rockstar launcher. I don't want ea launcher. I don't want ubisoft launcher. Please, at the very least just let me play your games.Show moreShow less
I'm a huge battlefield fan, but this game is broken and unplayable now due to issues with the EA/Origin app. Don't waste your money. It's garbage now. Probably intentionally done by EA so they can shut down the servers, and try sell you the next POS...usually worse than the last. The policies of these degenerate, triple A companies are the reason they're going down like a well oiled turd.Show moreShow less

Fantastic game, perhaps 10/10 The problem is that the game does not launch anymore, and it's so frustrating trying to get it to work. EDIT: I after 2 weeks of trying I finally got it to work. Go to Origin and disable in-game overlay and disable as many things as you can Then go to C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License and delete all the .dlf files Enjoy!Show moreShow less
