This game has installed Red Shell spyware on PCs without their owners' knowledge or consent. Red Shell is a spyware that tracks data of your PC. You cannot opt out, it's opted in by default. From my perspective, it violates GDPR. It's not disclosed and they have the capability to track whatever they want on your PC with or without your consent or knowledge. This review will not be deleted even if the developers remove Red Shell. That they put it in in the first place means that they lack ethics and don't care about your privacy and may or may not install it or other similar things in the future. As such, this review serves as a warning. Take Dota2, HoN or LoL. Strip away all the farming, item buying, running around and randomness. That leaves you with pure fast paced battles in an arena. No random effects, just skill based combat with WASD controls and mouse aiming. That's Battlerite.Show moreShow less
Sadly, no matter how good it is, I can't recommend a game whose developer misled their playerbase and abused their trust. See, during a time of ever-dwindling population of Battlerite, they announced a Royale game mode "to fill a void in Battlerite" (dev blog). It's fair to say that the majority of Battlerite players never asked specifically for a Battle Royale, but the community ran along with it, considering "new game modes" had always been mentioned on its roadmap and people understood the game could use a more casual experience. However, after 3 months of multiple development blogs hyping Royale and clearly switching most of their resources to what was repeatedly announced as a game mode, they revealed it would instead be released as a separate, paid early access title. Hence going against what they told the community for months. What's truly shameful is the incredibly unapologetic attitude of Stunlock Studios, even going as far as trying to spin this twist into "some very exciting news" (dev blog). They even have the nerve to say things like "It was never a promise" (dev comment on reddit). They think their only mistake is communicating too much in the past, while the true problem is them refusing to keep their word every passing day. Although it's a common thing for plans to shift during development, it's another thing entirely for them to decide to not honor what they said. They had and still have many opportunities to make it right towards their playerbase who trusted them, even while keeping Royale a separate game, but they're deliberately choosing not to. No, what they have chosen to do is ask people to pay to help them beta test their new game before completing the roadmap on their previous one. In the end, as a player and consumer, this is not about having everything for free, as there is nothing wrong with paying for a product that deserves it. This is about developers, whether big or small, thinking they can repeatedly say one thing and instead do the opposite without being held accountable. This is about developers being trustworthy. Stunlock Studios is clearly not. It's a shame because SLS really has some amazing technical talent, but they're in dire need of learning ethics. Until they do, I suggest we don't support this developer, or any other, who thinks they can get away with not keeping their word to their community.Show moreShow less

Unfortunately it's going to be one of those reviews but any reasonable person couldn't let redshell slide. I never gave the developers expressed permission to track what i am doing out of the game. The idea it's even remotely reasonable and is being defended is absolutely outrageous.Show moreShow less

As someone with over 500 hours put into Battlerite, I can't recommend this game for the following reasons. 1. Unbalanced matchmaking/Unwinnable matchups This is the biggest reason why I can't recommend this game. In 2v2 or 3v3, you can get team comps that don't have a support versus a team that does. The team without a support is immediately put at a disadvantage. Why? Because without a support, you can't trade, poke, or do anything remotely resembling "strategy". The only way to win these matchups is to pick a target and kill them as fast as possible, which is near impossible against competent players. Unfortunately this is an easily fixed problem that has been around since Early Access began. Is it too much to ask for support teams versus support teams only? 2. Unfair matchmaking As you climb the ranks, you may notice how the gap between player ranks increases. For example, as a Champion 5 player, you could get a Platinum ranked player on your team versus two Diamonds. This might look balanced but it's really not. The Diamond players will focus the Platinum player while you struggle 1v2 basically. In this game, it's possible for the highest ranking players (Grand Champion) to be placed with Gold players (4 league difference). That's ridiculous. Edit: Champion 4 being matched with Bronze and Silver players...lol https://imgur.com/a/BNBwq 3. Champion balance in 2v2 If you've been on Battlerite's subreddit, you may have seen posts praising the game's balance. Sure, newer players will think the game is balanced because they'll play anything and it'll work. This isn't the case in higher level play. It's obvious that some champions completely outshine others in 2v2 and 3v3, such as Freya, Blossom, Poloma, Raigon, Thorn, Destiny, and Taya. 4. Champion Counter Picks Don't get me wrong, counter picks are a healthy thing in a game. Oddly though, this game has no draft mode. Why are there champions that render other champions useless? A prime example is Freya, a melee hero, versus any other melee. This champion has the tools to destroy any melee champion regardless of skill level. Champions like this should not exist in a game with 2v2 and 3v3 game modes. At the very least, add draft picking. Draft picking would also solve problem #1. Edit: Removed a section because it was mostly just me being whiny.Show moreShow less
~THIS IS NOT A MOBA.~ ~THIS IS NOT A MOBA.~ ~THIS IS NOT A MOBA.~ No farming, no leveling up, just pure action pvp. Its a very fun and very competetive arena brawler. There is no RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, there is no p2w. Even though the game is early access it features a lot of good content with more to come. Definitely worth supporting this developer. When people think "MOBA" they think of LoL or DOTA. For the sake of the game it is important not to refer to it as a MOBA.Show moreShow less
The Last update made me uninstall, I could write a book about my feelings about the update but ill just make it short. The time ive had playing the game was the best. The feeling of Outplaying your Enemies and looking super legit is now gone. You made Battlerite arena and Battlerite royale into two different games when obviously the royale should of just been a mode. Goodluck SLS This update really disappointed me. You burned the game to the ground just like the playerbase. You made royale Free to play and still only has less than 100 people playing. Good job.Show moreShow less
