First thing I'm gonna say is: I love this game. It's fun to mess around in, it's fun to build, and it's helped me make a lot of great friends. But I can't recommend this game. I love it, I can't stress that enough. But I doubt you will. The developer won't give us a changelog. He won't listen to the community, and, oh the community. What a pile of rubbish it is! They have this insane idea that, when someone like me and a group of friends suggests something AS MINUTE AS A CHANGELOG, they go bat****. They say "he isn't your slave", "He can do what he wants", and **** like that. I am sorry, but I just cannot stand it. We give a suggestion, and they dogpile on us. The moderators slander us, the community accuses us of spamming dislikes on anything on the front page (despite the fact that it happened to us as well, and that moderators can check that ****, but instead they sit on their lazy ***es and endorse the toxicity to anyone who disagrees). As I said, I love this game. Or should I say, loved. The develpoer cared about the developements and the community, oh the comunity, was just us. Me, some friends, some who were to be friends and conform to the toxicity, and some who were to be friends and eventually get shunned for speaking out. It's a hivemind. This is from someone who was inside or a while. So my conclusion? Don't bother. Get a Lego game, try out Scrap Mechanic or Rigs of Rods, but whatever you do, no NOT get sucked into this community's endless pit of toxicity. Update: I have taken an almost year long hiatus from this game to clear my mind, and I've come back to it to play with close friends and no one else. What I've gathered from my time back in the game, with no disrespect, is that the developer constantly makes decisions that are, what I would call, regressive. There are, of course, good parts of updates, but his updates seem to be mainly focused on new gimmicky bricks and maybe a graphical update every now and then, and less on actual optimization and bugfixes. There definitely has been an attempt at both, but I feel it is still being overshadowed by, frankly, unnecessary and frequently bug-ridden content. As for the community, I wouldn't know. I have been banned from the discord (It was so long ago, I don't know if it was justified or not, but for the review I will assume it was), and I don't spend enough time on the Steam Workshop so I can stay away from the drama and mob-mentality that I felt plagued the community before my hiatus. Unfortunately, I still cannot recommend the game. The developer is definitely working harder on the game and I feel the quality is improving, but over the years of owning and playing the game, I fear one simple brick or gamemode (like guns) has, and will again, plague the community with immature kids who want nothing better than to shoot everything they see. I don't want to hate on the people who chose to spend money on this game, but I personally wouldn't suggest you pick it up, unless you intend on making your own vehicles and having fun with a close group of friends.Show moreShow less
This game is great! The physics, the building, and the destruction. but there is an issue. Servers... You see, Camodo Gaming is a kids YouTube channel. he makes up most of brick rigs content. Which means a bunch of little kids who still think cooties are a thing are ruining brick rigs servers. They make servers with rules comparable to Roblox cafe games, and when you do something that their child minds don't like, they ban you. Same thing when you piss off a kid for some small insignificant thing, they start blaring "KICK (this guy)." Then you find a server not run by some self centered or dictatorial kid. Things are going great, having a fun time and all. Then out of nowhere some kid who can hardly speak proper english yet walks in and spawns a lag machine of a black hole or nuke, destroying the map or crashing the server in the process. It is very uncommon to find that one perfect server, not too much authority but not too much chaos. Eventually, a young child joins and then ruins the server. I know, a lot to read but not much.Show moreShow less
I have loved playing Brick Rigs for many years, it is like playing with legos except you can actually drive them, fly them, and smash them with no consequences! This game has brought me MANY hours of tireless fun with activities such as street racing, building, and living in a lego world. The controls are simple and easy to get used to, the physics are hilarious, and the multiplayer is fantastic, creating a comical yet comfortable game that is an absolute joy to play. At this point in the review you must be wondering why I gave this game a thumbs down when there is so much to love about it. My reasoning, is that Brick Rigs 1.0 update ruined the game. I am sure that many other reviews have said the same things, but everybody wanted the 1.0 update to have useful fixes such as better tire traction, better severs, new bricks, more maps, and other useful features. However, these expected changes were not to be, and instead we got a worse game than we started with. Servers are laggier than ever, the new UI is awful, the previously simple and intuitive game I loved has been ruined. Everyone I know who used to play Brick Rigs has stopped playing because of the update. The new 1.0 update has made one of my favorite games into an example of how a perfect, enjoyable, charming, and simple, game can be turned into something not even worth playing, let alone paying for. I am sad to see what Brick Rigs has become.Show moreShow less

Edit: As of June 2024, this is my most popular review, and I feel the need to update it based on the games current progression. Since it still receives minor attention, despite my absence from the community for a while. My participation within it having been forgotten due to time of absence with intentional distancing from the community and rebranding. I'll keep the old review up as an archive for context. This game as of now has made some pretty impressive strides when the review was made. The game's code was rebuilt from the ground up and the graphics which were improved decently. Along with additional moderation tools which the game had lacked, which makes a decent amount of the old review obsolete. However, has the community improved since then? No, still more toxic than Chernobyl and filled with immature children who populated it previously, just that many of those people from my time period have now grown up or left, being replaced with new ones. With this, don't even think about playing on public servers, even if it requires a communication server to join. I never partook in the games community discord, just kept it to community related servers which still disappointed me. I should preface this with, I was not an innocent angel. I partook in organized raids and other bratty behaviors mirrored by those I had complained about, although more constrained. Motivated by both partaking in it for the fun and by my frustration with the community along with the developer. 13-16 year old me is far different from me in my early 20s, which is how the story usually goes for a lot the old people who left the community and abandoned such obnoxious behavior due to maturity coming with age, that's what has further disillusioned me with this community and has forsaken those who've left as well. Id advise following in their footsteps in leaving as well, your efforts will be better rewarded elsewhere. The hotkey changes were unnecessary and now feel more clunky, I had them ingrained from playing so long and I know they can remapped, but the past control complaints are now more validated than previously, it also broke a good portion of the old vehicles of the workshop due to them not being updated for these changes. I don't care too much for the graphical changes for this game, but the old graphics had more charm while the new ones look stale and forgettable. The new content added are good additions to the game, but the criticism of the lack of progress were it would improve the game has also risen up which has had less excuse due to the overhauling of the game. Made worse by those who feel the need to deflect criticism off of the developer instead of acknowledging the problems of the game were it can actually be improved were it has faulted for a while, which has far less excuse existing given the games overhaul to make future updates easier which took a couple of years to release. I'd go over those, but its been said far better by others who have more experience in the community, and I want to keep this review relatively short. To end it off, despite the progress this game has seen which I do think was very much needed development wise where it can be considered out of early access, the community has deep-rooted issues that would require uprooting it entirely, which just isn't feasible. While these judgements of the newer versions were formed on about 50~ hours of playtime which pails in comparison to the dozens of hundred hours which had been used to form my previous one, intentionally made distant from the community, it is still a relatively unchanged impression. Single player is good, the broader community is still as undesirable as its been. And considering that was a big motivation to engage, there is hardly a reason for me to play. - Old Archived Review - With over 1000 hours in this game, having owned it for more than two years (since April 27, 2017), I can confidently say: If you primarily play singleplayer, I'd recommend it. There aren't many bugs in that mode. However, if you're like me and mainly play multiplayer and engage in with its community, I wouldn't recommend it. Or at least don't set your expectations too high. Features like permissions for players and server announcements aren't even available in multiplayer. It's been almost three years since multiplayer was introduced (November 21, 2016), and it's still quite underdeveloped. Often, joining a server means dealing with infuriating players. Both in public and private servers. While this problem is less pronounced in dedicated servers with communication channels, the toxicity and drama extends to these as well. The vote kick function is broken a decent amount of the time. Even when it does, it's often misused. As a host, you can't cancel a vote kick, and it's frustrating when people abuse this to kick others for no reason. The person initiating the vote isn't identified, making it ripe for abuse. Managing a large server is challenging due to the lack of essential host features, such as banning or promoting people as moderators. While some of these issues are fixable if you host a dedicated server for your roleplays using communication apps like discord, what seems like features that would be necessary aren't there. The community isn't great; you encounter a lot of children who think they are hot stuff, pretending to be youtubers or just other annoying behavior in-general. Updates are sparse and usually lacking in content. The game has a history of game-breaking bugs, especially in multiplayer. While there are regular bug fixes, significant content additions are rare. Also, the controls aren't as hard as people complaining them are to be, which is one of the things the game has going for it. I'm not saying this game is bad; it has its moments. The fact I got so much hours out of it is proof that it has longevity and a lot of replayability, the stagnate progression of the game with the community issues doesn't provide a huge incentive to stay. If I had predicted this be the future of were my efforts for participating in this games community are, it would be far less. However, it has a long way to go before I can recommend it. At its current price, I don't think it's worth $15, get the game on-sale and hold low expectations for the community or avoid it.Show moreShow less

I loved this game, I would spend 20+ hours at a time just messing around with the editor. But I've lost all motivation to continue playing and developing new builds, because frankly the game's updates in the last year or two have been more of a nuisance than help. The graphics are an eyesore, makes it hard to see what's going on with all the bloom and the motion blur and unnecessary shaders. It makes for great screenshots, but when you're actually in the editor it just gets hard to look at. Understanding the absurd amount of keybindings and the flimsy controls is stressful enough, but the new default bindings are extremely frustrating and very irritating for someone who has developed a muscle memory for the old ones after 500+ hours. I know I can manually change them, but they never needed an update to begin with, the old worked. The short of it is that while this is absolutely a great game, it does NOT respect its long term players, it constantly tries to "innovate", through unnecessary graphic updates, control schemes that are not at all intuitive and confusing UI. And worst of all, completely reworking the physics now and then. Making everything you've made over the YEARS you've sunk into this game go completely berserk when you try to use them after a major update... Forcing creators to manually adjust or even completely remake a lot of their old creations to work with the new updates, which is just not worth the hassle for me. Obviously a lot of this might be hyperbole, not everyone has the same experiences and a lot of people genuinely like the changes. But I feel like every update disregards the impact it has on its players in favour of what the developers want out of the game. Trying to get back into the game after a long absence only to be met by a completely new UI, completely new controls and completely new physics, and having to relearn everything while all of my old creations are straight up unusable... It has completely demotivated me from investing any more of my time into this game.Show moreShow less
Dear developer, Well played, Brick Rigs. This game is rediculous. It's Beam MG physcis with legos. They just added guns and roles to the beta. They made a game for kids to make cars. We made tanks. They saw what community picked up this game, and they catered to it. Best freakin' buisness strategy I've seen: give the players what they want. Outstanding job guys, really. Thanks for a great game. Sincerely, Mammal FurShow moreShow less
Brick Rigs used to be a fun game with many options, but I feel like they kind of ruined it, it's still a fun game though, but they removed and are going to remove more aspects that are important to the game like the different fuels and the alt mode. They are literally removing all the maps because the new map apparently has the same experience. Removing the alt mode will ruin most tanks and planes. For the most part, the new UI feels worse like the old one, it's like Firefox simplifying their logo too much. I just feel like that the game was already good and the developer wouldn't have to make it bad. Even the editor is ruined it used to be as simple as it could, yet easily to understand, yet he managed to make it harder by making it more simple, but to be fair, some new things added are pretty nice, like actually being able to customize your skin instead of just having some that can only be used when you switch role and I do understand some of his choices on changing the menu since it was literally just default Unreal Engine UI. If you have never played Bricks Rigs, I encourage you to play it. I am guessing the developer will fix the game since it's still in early access.Show moreShow less
