I do not think this sort of business practice should be encouraged. If Devil May Cry and shooters had a child, it would be this game. Game is very action - packed and enjoyable. A few problems here and there, but that's fine because it -was- in early access. But it's not in early access anymore and I bought this thinking it was a full game. You can already see that it's still supposed to be in early access the moment you open the options menu and realize that you can't change keybinds. Look, I'll support this game. I enjoy the combat and with a few polishing, I believe this game will turn out to be great, but I don't think it's fair for people to "buy a demo" thinking it's an actual full game. Sure, I know I'll get the full game anyway because I bought this "demo" but I feel like I was scammed into buying this game. If someone wants to support an early access title, sure, but let it be because they're supporting it because they want the game to happen, not because they were baited into buying it. I have supported different early access titles and it's clearly stated in those titles that it is in development and that they will continue to add more content. This title just makes you think that a full game is out because it's not labelled as early access anymore. In the future, you can see this title becoming a free demo to the actual full game.Show moreShow less

The developer admitted that he stole assets from pirated sites. That's thousands of hours or more of hours people's hard work. Not cool...Show moreShow less
The game's concepts and visuals are really impressive considering that this was pretty much made by one man but it has room for improvement. The combat is definitely one of my favourites in FPS games. The Pros: -Fun and engaging combat -Good pacing -Good world design -Great visuals -Waifu!! -Waifu school uniform!! -Didn't run into gamebreaking bugs which is great for an early access title -Buying it is not only cheap but also gets you the full length and hopefully polished game when it comes out so there is even more reason to support the dev The Cons: -Unskippable Cutscenes Yes, this is a con when the game promotes you to finish the game 3 times and still doesn't have an option to skip the cutscenes, hopefully it will be there in the full game -Grappling system unreliable Most of my deaths/inconveniences were caused by the terrible grappling system, it really needs polish or a rework -Poor execution of scripted sequences In one of these, you have to jump and slide down a hill; I jumped slightly the other direction not knowing there was a setpiece and it instantly killed my movement speed and I fell to my death. In another, the sequence didn't load altogether and I was dumbfounded on where to go (this was the only major bug in my playtime) -English text Not a big deal but dev needs a good translator for the english lines, one of its "signature lines" is Now it may be dark, but you will be bright -Checkpoint between 2 phases of a boss fight Giving a checkpoint between 2 phases really kills the challenge and player never feels the need to analyse what he did wrong and he can just get through it throwing everything he has on the boss -UI Scaling I play on an ultrawide monitor and when I changed FOV settings, it changed the scale of the UI for some reason which made it unplayable at lower than 110 fov, a bug that needs to be addressed. -Not a con but for a game with such impressive visuals, the hair textures are underwhelming. -If you keep "hold" settings instead of toggle for aiming, it doesn't switch to ADS many of the times and you have to press RMB again which gets annoying when you're chaining combos Final Conclusion: The game is amazing and unlike most recent games it tries to do its own thing and doesn't outright steal other game designs just for the sake of selling more. It has a fresh concept and is really fun. I still have trouble believing it's pretty much made by one man. I have a lot of hopes from the final game, I just wish it doesn't get downgraded to the ground and has many more skills to be unlocked. One suggestion for the developer is to add a sliding mechanic which gets activated by crouching while running so that there are more options for mobility in its highly engaging combat.Show moreShow less
This is a 30 minute game demo. I am not joking about the length. If anything I am exaggerating because much of it is backtracking and replaying the same areas and the same enemies. If you have the FPS skills to navigate the boss fights you will be complete in far less than an hour. I've spent more time thinking about how to review this than I did actually playing it, that's worth noting. In many ways I feel bad recommending against this, but in the end I just can't justify the price against either the length or the actual quality, despite there being some promise of improvements in the future. Well, the future isn't now and I have to judge what's here and how it exists as-is. But at the very least it deserves a longer explanation of my thought process. First of all, as a one person project: this is impressive. On the other hand, it took him 6 years to produce something this short. There's also the simple fact that he used Unreal Engine and a combination of purchased and (confirmed) stolen art assets that already existed from model stores, which means that his process for development is more "assembly of existing things other people made" as he's not building either the engine or the models himself. If it took 6 years to assemble existing pieces and all that was accomplished is a short tech demo, I can not imagine how long the full game is going to take to launch. At the rate he produces content, it could easily be another 6 years before "Bright Memory Infinite" is ever available. Note, that's the promise being sold here. You are buying this demo For $10 with the hope the developer might some day make another game and he's promised to give that game to buyers of this demo. If you truly want to invest in his future, that is your decision. But it's not a choice that I can actively suggest you make. That's why this is marked as not recommended. Those notes aside my time with the demo itself is also filled with mixed feelings. I see a lot of reviews praising this as innovative, but it really isn't very innovative. At its best the game reminds me of a sci-fi version of the old FPS Hexen, a hit and miss blend of shooting with melee combat. The problem for me is that it doesn't really improve much on anything over that 30 year old game other than the graphics, and the graphics are a side effect of using Unreal Engine and buying (or stealing) pretty art assets to plug into it. So yes, the game is pretty, but at least for me I don't judge a game purely on how it looks. The game play is what is most important and unfortunately I am let down by far too many aspects of it. For much of the game you are encouraged to make use of your sliding and quick dodge mechanic, but the levels themselves are designed so poorly that you can rarely actually make use of this. The generic progress levels are nothing but tiny corridors, everything is move forward down small hallway. The boss fights are arena battles, but the arenas are tiny rooms. You are so trapped on all sides that you can barely make any real use of your movement skills. All of the enemies are bullet sponges, even the weakest ones take multiple head shots and just keep coming. The boss fights are multiple stages of repetitive bullet absorption. Not even particularly hard, just tedious. Did you think you beat that boss? Nope, he'll just get back up, have more health and this time you get to fight a dozen more enemies at the same time and they will all pop up and hit you from all sides until you kite out from their spawn pattern. The HUD and weapons are large and block too much of your view. The blood splatter when you get hit blocks even more of the screen, so at those moments when you need to actually see what you are doing to have any chance of survival, nope, here's blood in your eyes, try to play blind. Which you can, but you won't enjoy it. The puzzles and platforming are shoved at you like they are supposed to mean something; but solving them isn't hard other than the tedious controls for jumping in first person. And the grapple hook mechanics are very poorly presented, what determines which things you can grapple with is arbitrary, the same looking ledge on one side of the room can be grappled, but the same visual gimmick on the other side won't have a button prompt so you can't use it there, forced instead to find a longer way around by jumping, and it goes on like this several times. The experience and level up system is clunky, enemies drop golden glowing spots that you have to run back and collect off the ground and if they die in a position that you can't reach it, oh well you just don't get the reward. At one point I had a mini-boss fall into a wall and he was required to kill to unlock the next corridor to make progress, I had to glitch into the wall to shoot him and of course couldn't reach the XP that he dropped in there. Numerous minor glitches like this exist throughout the presentation. The most common glitch (or was it by design?) are bosses with melee swings that can hit you from across the room even after you dodge. Understanding how to kill them is easy, learning how to dodge, at least visually just takes a little practice; but, when you see them telegraph the swing, use the quick dodge to slide across the room and watch his sword hit the ground 10 sword lengths away from you and yet, it still takes off your health, something is wrong. Either the game is extremely glitched with boss melee, or the designer actually thinks it's funny for you to get hit by swings that visually missed you an entire room away from where you are standing when it lands. It's the kind of hit-lag that you might expect in a poorly optimized online game where the cross-internet lag catches up; but this is single player, there shouldn't be server-lag hitting you after you clearly moved out of the way. I could go on and complain about how pointless the skills upgrades are, how much of the already short game is just backtracking (it's a there-and-back-again adventure, from your first arena fight, out to another in a little loop and back again to fight another boss in the same starting arena) you'll have seen every room at least twice and every enemy multiple times and how poorly balanced the melee combat is compared to your very short health levels. (getting close enough to melee usually means getting hit by multiple enemies and you die super fast). I don't mind difficult games, but too much of the difficulty comes from poor design, cheap mechanics and glitches. I'm going to wrap it up there. For all of my complaints, I still don't hate the game. It really is an impressive feat to be done by one person, even if it did take 6 years. But it suffers very much from being made by one person, there's so much vast room for improvement that it feels like he made the game in a vacuum and what it needs is a team to come in and polish off the rough edges, balance out the game play and expand it to the point of actually being a game and not just a tech demo. In the end, this is a game I'd like to see finished and polished; but that doesn't mean I can actually recommend anyone else pay for this very rough tech demo in its current state. EDIT: Replayed the game again for achievements and to think about whether I should revise my review and honestly I just have more complaints. The story is childish gibberish, the characters name is pronounced differently by each person that says it as if they couldn't make up their mind (Shell-ay-ya, Sheel-eye-ah, etc) and quite frankly it's very likely just spelled wrong (Shelia instead of Sheila) as are some other misspelled words: DIRECTION not DRECTION. Spell check is real, use it. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?Show moreShow less

While, yes, this is impressive for a solo developer, it's not as fun as the reviews make it out to be. The guns are bland. They feel useless. The abilities are OK, but they get repetitive quickly. The fights are quite hectic. No visual clarity. It feels like there is too much stuff on the screen. Particles, weapons, enemies, the annoying yellow square things, etc. The camera is too shaky. Not enough enemy variety. The music is terrible. This game also tries to mix and match a lot of different stuff from different games, but fails horribly. Take Shadow Warrior (2013) for example. That game is great. The sword is very, very fun to use there, but the guns are also useful. But, here the guns are useless and you have to press F then spam E. You win. Also, it's kinda annoying and makes this game feel "Soulless" that everywhere there is a reference to a game. Not to pay homage to a game, or an Easter egg of sorts, no. Just straight up ripped stuff from games. Dark Souls, DmC: DMC (The face zoom after you kill a group of enemies and the next group spawns. (There is nothing wrong with it, and I would have LOVED it, but don't make it so obvious.)), stolen assets from different games (https://www.abacusnews.com/digital-life/game-developer-behind-bright-memory-ep1-admits-he-used-stolen-assets/article/3000636), etc. People are acting like this is the second coming of Christ, and that this game is better than most FPS games of the past 10 years, etc. But, it doesn't deserve that praise IMO. Not even close. But, it's a pretty good indie game, I'll give it that. Maybe this game isn't for me, IDK.Show moreShow less
Pros: -Looks Good -Runs like butter -Awesome combat and abilities -Costs a meal -Isn't made by EA -Doesn't use a buggy engine -No ties to Actishit Cons: -I don't live in a time where this game is finishedShow moreShow less
Its a good game actually but i cant play it because there is still no button remaping and that makes it almost impossible to play for me as a left handed personShow moreShow less
