People will thumb up anything now. They didn't even bother to sync up Duke's voice to his lips during cutscenes and the characters still call him Gray. I do not really see the graphics are improved that much if at all really. It crashed on me 3 times when just trying to load to the menu screen and I had to fix it myself because you know a game that came out 6 years ago that has just been re-released really should be crashing am I right? Here's the deal you have a really great 2011 game mixed with a insanely high price tag for what you get, with a stupid DLC at release, and lack of graphic options. If you find it on sale and they update the game some to fix some other issues people are experiencing and add a proper graphics menu because this is a PC game albeit an old one I say get it. For what it is now it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just nostalgic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and once the nostalgia glasses wear out most people even if they won't admit it will see it just wasn't worth the money for what looks like a half assed release.Show moreShow less
A remaster no one asked for to help make a sequel everyone asked for and hasn't happened (yet). Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition flopped. Let's not have any doubt about that. The crime committed here is Gearbox's fault for overpricing the ♥♥♥♥ out of what is one of the best remaster packages I've seen lately. It runs beautifully, looks fantastic even in 2018 standards (it did come out in 2017 but I only played it now when it was acceptably cheap for myself, who already owned the original) and the game is still the same crazy good shooty explody fun... ...only now with Duke motherf*cking Nukem in it. But I digress, I'll approach this as a game on its own, mention the remaster much later in the review but know that this is a must-buy when anything under 10€ for owners of the original. The rest who never touched this brilliance of a software can feel happy with the purchase if they paid around 25-30€ but no more. Anyway, onwards! STORY If you care about it, you're doing it wrong... To be fair, the story isn't actually all that bad! It's actually a pretty solid tale of a small group of soldiers (some confederate, others rogue) that must overcome differences and work together to get off the planet they crashed in. To do that they must find a general (the confederate want to save and rogues want to kill) to get to the escape ship and in the middle you'll get about 9 hours of extremely fast paced intense gameplay and cringy-yet-well-voiced jokes. You're one of the rogue troopers (ahh references <3), named Gray(son) Hunt, with a macho-man voice, that loves ♥♥♥♥ and tit jokes and exploding heads and flying limbs. Or if you own the 5€ Duke Nukem DLC, you get to play as... ta-daaaa, Dewk Newkm himself, who is still excellently voiced, has terrible lip-sync and is treated with the same voice acting as Grayson. AKA... others will call him Gray, Grayson or Hunt and not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Dook New-Come, which shows how lazy he was slapped in there. His dialogue is still quite decently written so overall, gets a pass and does warrant for a second playthrough (After beating the game, you unlock overkill mode, so that's an extra motivation to beat the game again). The ending both is conclusive and sequel-baits, but it's solid and nicely conclusive overall. Now we just need the sequel :) So... when Gearbox or People Can Fly stop smelling their own farts and decide to make Bulletstorm 2: The Sequel But Stormier, then I think half the FPS community would appreciate instead of a new Duke Nukem 3D re-release or... God forbid... more SHIFT codes for Borderlands 2. GAMEPLAY What everyone cares (or at least should care) about! There are 4 modes here: - Campaign -> as regular as any. 5 difficulty modes, collectibles, well paced gameplay overall, mixing slower story bits with cutscenes with pure action gameplay almost seamlessly. You can carry 3 weapons (of any type) and can upgrade them at designated dropkits (which work as checkpoints as well). - Overkill Mode -> essentially New Game +. Same 5 difficulty modes, collectibles and such but you now can carry ALL weapons already FULLY upgraded from the get-go. The tutorial is automatically ditched so you can get right into the action. Rest of it is the same as the campaign - Echoes -> arena based challenge modes where you kill and kill and rack a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of points in awesome single-player blood fest. Think of them as Call of Duty's Spec Ops: play -> unlock more arenas -> rinse and repeat. - Anarchy Mode -> Bulletstorm's Multiplayer: like Echoes but with up to 4 people with a twist: more timed challenges, ALOT more skillshots can be made (team skillshots which don't exist in SP ofc) and in general it's a blast. Easily one of the best survival based multiplayers I've played. Highly customizable characters and excellent gameplay throughout this whole package, not just the co-op. (NOTE THAT GFWL WAS REMOVED AND IT'S 100% STEAM COMMUNITY NOW) Now, gameplay itself and what are these... "skillshots". "Kill a dude by literally tearing him a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with bullets" -> BAM! +50 points for you, good Sir! "Kick a dude into a spiked wall" -> BOOM! +100 points for you, you sick ♥♥♥♥! "Impale an enemy on a shock element" -> MAKE IT RAIN, MAKE IT RAIN! Okay, you get the point. The crazier the ♥♥♥♥ you pull off, the more points you get (ergo, the more you can upgrade, buy ammo and special ammo, etc.) so, you better get creative or... the game will punish you. Not much... but it will. And if you want to play it vanilla as good old ice-cream, then you can just beat it and then play with everything unlocked in Overkill Mode... ... or you can ♥♥♥♥ off back to Battlefield and Call of Duty. Granted, the game does feel TOO EASY, even on it's max difficulty. I can literally play this like a big daddy, ramming everything to death not using cover (let's face it... I AM THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ COVER) and I'd still be safe and sound at home by dinner time for some roasted turducken (aren't we all secretly animals in some way?). Anyway, the guns feel... amazing. Easily one of the best feeling FPS games ever made in my opinion. The reload sounds make me feel like I'm decapitating a whole enemy arena just by putting a shell on my shotgun. Everytime I slice a dude in 2 with the shotgun feels like I personally chokeslammed Mankind through the Cell in 1998 and there is hardly any gun that doesn't feel like I'm not absolutely tearing them into beef jerky just by kissing them with the barrel of said gun. If this doesn't sound like it's a good FPS then you're either in denial or you're Mankind 20 years ago. TECHNICAL PARTS Graphics: Rocksolid. Now, maxed out, the game does look quite gorgeous so they did an excellent job with the remaster. Textures and environments look great, limbs have nice detail, and so do characters and enemy models. Lip syncing is beyond terrible though, so... try to avoid paying attention to that. The bloom is used but not abused, the Anti-Aliasing doesn't blur the ♥♥♥♥ out of the screen like a miopic 80 year-old man's eyes and the water and elemental effects (which cause some nice lighting effects) look great in general. The landscapes and sightseeing are truly a sight to behold: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1429233392 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1429233307 Now, technical parts involve also the audio and bugs. The game had glitches/bugs for me. I got stuck in terrain twice (and no you can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ JUMP, which is insulting as all hell but you'll live, the level design works around this quite well) had important moments/cutscenes not trigger and by the end, one of the cutscenes didn't have sound or lip-sync, so it was like going to Paris and watch 2 mimes in the street discuss politics. That sure sounds engaging... I digress, I watched the cutscene on youtube and then went on with the gameplay so... do the same if it happens. It sucks, it has a couple glitches as you can see, so don't be afraid to reload a checkpoint if something feels off. Audio parts involve the voice acting: while the writing is quite the cringefest (in the joke department), the voice acting for all characters sell it quite well. All sounds really good. Gun sounds are epic as I already said, environment sounds, point acquisition sounds, everything helps the combat (and the game as a whole) feel better in everyway. I must note in scripted sequences or simply when near death, Duck NewCum will make Grayson's hurt sounds or joyful screams instead of... Dookie's sounds, so that's another dollar to the "lazy DLC" jar. Overall, the package is quite excellent. The game is fantastic is almost every regard. It sins on the occasional bug, the lazy as ♥♥♥♥ Nock Duck'em DLC and the humanly unthinkable price of 40€ for a remaster with slight upgraded textures (and 4K), a GFWL patch and all DLC included with no discount or free-giving for previous owners.Show moreShow less
The laziest remaster to ever exist Now, don't get me wrong. Bulletstorm is a fantastic game, but the way they've pulled the original game from the store so we have to buy Gearbox' desperate attempt to earn more money? That's disgusting. This review is going to be about the remaster itself, not the original game. When i look at remasters like Cod4 remastered, i'm like, "wow, they clearly put a lot of work in this to make sure the game looks fresh and modern, giving customers reason to buy an old game once again" and then i take a look at this game, and suddenly i'm like "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this is the exact same game except more expensive" Once you first boot up the game, and look at the graphics settings, you can notice a whole 2 graphics options to change around with, wait this is a REMASTER, im playing? Getting into the game you can notice they changed the filter, from looking like bf3 to something more yellow-ish. The graphics are mostly if you took the originals textures and shadows, and doubled their values. It's actually incredible how little effort they put into this "remaster" (more like re-sell) "There's also the Duke Nukem pack!" you say? oh yeah thats the same exact game, just some different voice lines from your character. the other characters and enemies dont respond differently to duke, so its essentially worthless if you were looking for a new experience, he feels really out of place when they all give duke the same answers as Gray, most of Duke Nukems lines are also the exact same as Gray's In conclusion/TLDR:The gameplay is good (which gearbox did not design, thats from People Can Fly.) Gearbox has gone down the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they previously made good games but now theyre getting too desperate for money. DO NOT BUY this "remaster" if youre looking for better graphics, well that depends on what you think on them. But hey, at least you can play the damn thing (thanks GFWL) EDIT: oh yeah forgot to mention, the only time when it actually matters your character talks in one of the final cutscenes, the main character for no reason does NOT open his mouth nor speak words, its really awkward. did i get charged 45$ for a game they didnt even complete ONCE THEMSELVES?!Show moreShow less

let me start of by saying, the game is great. BUT it's without a doubt not worth the price. it's a remastered game with a 6 hour long campain (the time it took me) with a dead multiplayer community that's being sold for almost the same price as a new triple-a game. for this reason alone i have to give it a negative review. the price is simply unjustifiable!Show moreShow less
Underrated, overpriced.Show moreShow less
This is a hard one to review. I played the original Bulletstorm a fair amount of times and I gave it my recommendation, but this game is a very marginal upgrade. Hell, I don't even know what's different outside of the (disappointingly half-assed) Duke Nukem DLC and the fact that this doesn't use Games for Windows Live. Summary before I go into details, buy this only on sale, don't buy this if you already own the original Bulletstorm, and DEFINITELY do not buy it for the Duke Nukem DLC. While I thoroughly enjoyed the game, the current price point is exceedingly high. It's hard to say the game will even be worth it at half price. Now, since the old version's been booted from Steam and I can't reference my old review, I have to re-review the game. I may be in the minority, but I loved this game's shootybang fun time. The gameplay was enjoyable and most of the guns felt satisfying to use as well as the various Skillshots you could pull off. The overly linear nature of the level design is obviously a bit frustrating and restrictive though, which is one of the game's weakest points. I've played the story campaign through 3, maybe 4 times by now and every time I've almost completely forgotten the overall plot, which speaks volumes of the impact (or lack thereof) it had on me. The story -- though sprinkled all over the game -- however, feels very clichéd, with some of the writing feeling like they were trying a bit too hard to be funny. Can't really say anything about the multiplayer because I don't do multiplayer in most games. Willing to bet there are better multiplayer games for cheaper though if that's what you get your kicks from. The graphics are of "its era", even in this "new and improved" version of the game, not bad, but not stunning either. They're good enough as they are Because I love being redundant, I shall say again that overall the game is good, but it is not worth the price it is currently listed at. If it were reduced by at least 70-80% it would be more reasonable. I want to stay a fan of Gearbox, I genuinely do, but they make it so damn hard sometimes.Show moreShow less
Extremely stupid game that I enjoyed immensely, start to finish.Show moreShow less
Fun game. Lazy remaster. Duke isn't enough to justify the price, they didn't even cleverly try to write him in around the script they just put him awkwardly in. Also the game looks and feels the exact same as before no real reason to have this version for PC.Show moreShow less
