Can't really recommend it if you are a Windows 10 user, the game crash often on this version of Windows, and like Manhunt before, Rockstar will do nothing about it. Otherwise if you use W7 this game is really one of the best game i have ever played in my life and in this case you can buy it eyes closed.Show moreShow less
masterpiece, nostalgia for the PS 2 era. playing it again now is really fun note: this PC port is bad, crashes and can only 30fps. you have to install a mod called BullySilentPatch (https://github.com/CookiePLMonster/SilentPatchBully/releases) to unlock the fps and fix crash issue. how to install the mod: 1. extract all the file to Bully.exe file location 2. open "SilentPatchBully.ini" file with notepad 3. change "FPSLimit=30" to "FPSLimit=0", then save 4. just like that, simple :)Show moreShow less
I'm not recommending this on PC, I'm recommending this on one of the consoles, just be aware that it's bugged on all systems, but it suffers most on PC. Canis Canem Edit, or Bully is a good game. It is one of Rockstar's lesser appreciated games, alongside Manhunt and The Warriors. It is well paced (in the first half), has fun writing, has surprisingly solid gameplay mechanics, looks decent for its age and has great characters and voice acting. It's splashed with Rockstar Games humour, and is much more than just the mini-GTA a lot of coverage would have had you believe it was. However, the PC version is a poor port. The PC controls are a mess, so you need a a game controller to have effective control in all situations. It's also locked at 30 FPS by default, although there is a patch that removes the frame limiter, but to use this, you need another method of keeping the frame rate below 60FPS, or else it will run too fast (the SilentPatch which is available massively helps running this game!), and then there's the audio, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on certain audio setups with no way to fix it, except forcing into Stereo mode and hoping it fixes itself (I can't get it to work properly on my setup no matter what I do anymore) And after all of that effort, if you have a new system, during some instances of running the game, it will stutter, and nothing can stop the stuttering other than restarting until you get lucky. My old system got had zero stutter after Patch 1.2, and the 60FPS fan patch, but my new, more powerful system almost always stutters, I have to restart and restart until it decides to not stutter. It can run with no stutter, but it's a matter of luck. (New setup is back to running the game flawlessly locked, but with horrendous audio) Because of this, I recommend buying it on console, specifically XBOX 360 or Wii for the additional content that is also on the PC version. This game is worth playing, but the efforts to optimise the game on PC are terrible. It's also on available on Xbox One through backwards compatibility, which runs it brilliantly with no true significant problems. This is a modern classic, but the awful porting drags the entire package down and makes it very difficult to recommend to anyone in the form its presented here. I'll close re-iterating, it's on PS2/PS3/PS4/PS5, Xbox 360/One/SeriesX, Wii/Wii U. You'll have a far better out of box experience, and it'll work directly from installing or putting the disc in the drive which is the bare minimum you should expect from a thing you've paid for. Also, thanks Silent for making the game work on Windows 10.Show moreShow less
I learnt a phrase from this game, and it goes like this: "Make sure you're dressed nicely or girls won't want to kiss you" -went to school with suit -gave flowers to a cute girl -girl threw the flowers on me and called me a creep ~10/10 would cry againShow moreShow less
I want to preface this by saying: Bully is an absolutely PHENOMENAL game that I highly recommend anyone to play, especially if you're already a fan of open world GTA-style games. This review is not for the game Bully itself, but instead for specifically the PC port of the game that's available for purchase on Steam. Visually and gameplay-wise, this is a pretty damn good port for an older title in my opinion. It definitely feels like the lighting and textures got a bit of an upgrade since the PS2 era, and there's little to no issues with glitches in the gameplay itself other than the camera getting stuck here and there. The main issue with this port, and the reason why I struggle to recommend it for purchase, is because this game is VERY unstable. The PC port of Bully is infamous in the community for almost being unplayable due to its instability, as the game WILL crash with little to no warning at any point while you're playing, and it will be FREQUENT. The game may crash while loading a new area, while you're loading into a mission, while you're finishing a mission, or even just when you're walking around in the overworld minding your own business trying to get from point A to point B. It's almost impossible to play this game for any amount of time over an hour, if you can even play for that long without it crashing, that's how unstable this build is. A big part of why the game is unstable as hell is no doubt because it doesn't play with with Windows 10/11, but there's not much that can be done about that since Steam doesn't work on older OS's anymore. There's an avid community of people that have been tirelessly trying to figure out how to keep the game working for longer on a modern OS, which involves a LOT of modding, but even with all the bugfix community made patches and mods the game STILL won't run properly for longer than an hour at best. And, the worst part of all, because the game is so unstable if you attempt to run it in compatibility mode for an OS older than Windows Vista and/or run it in admin mode to assist its stability, the game will refuse to allow you to register any controllers plugged into the computer, which is far and away the optimal way to experience this game as the keyboard and mouse controls are absolutely ATROCIOUS, especially when you're using vehicles like the skateboard and bike. TLDR: Bully is a GREAT game, with great gameplay, fun characters, a banger soundtrack, and a fantastic story. Unfortunately, the PC port (especially on newer machines) is absolutely awful. If you can find another way to play this game that doesn't involve playing it on steam, I recommend doing that instead, because this port simply does not work without it crashing every 15 minutes.Show moreShow less
• I was only nine-years-old. • I loved Bully so much, I had it for the original PS2. • I pray to Rockstar every night before bed, thanking them for the games I have been given. • ''Rockstar is love'' I say, ''Rockstar is life.'' • My dad hears me and calls me a console peasant. • I knew he was just jealous of my devotion for Rockstar. • I called him a noob. • He slaps me and tells me to go play on the PC. • I'm crying now and my face hurts. • I boot up the Steam client and it's really slow. • A notification is moving towards me. • I see something inbox me. • It's Gaben. • I am so happy. • He types in my alerts, ''-75% off Bully: Scholarship Edition.'' • He grabs my wallet with his powerful gaming hands and puts me on my hands and knees. • I'm ready. • I agreed with the Steam terms and conditions. • He penetrates my bank account. • It hurts so much, but I do it for -75% Bully. • I can feel my wallet emptying as my eyes start to water. • I purchased the Grand Theft Auto Complete Pack. • I want to please Gaben. • He roars a mighty roar as he fills my inventory with his coupons. • My dad walks in. • Gaben looks him straight in the eyes and says, ''It was worth the wait.'' • Gaben leaves through my window. • Gaben is love, Gaben is life.Show moreShow less
The game was fun, but it's not meant to be played on Windows 10 The game is full of glitches, even when patched, and Rockstar didn't even bother to fix anything Only buy it for nostalgia's sake. For new players, if you're okay with dealing with glitches, go aheadShow moreShow less
I suppose a gun mod would be a pretty tasteless and bad idea for this game.Show moreShow less
One of the rockstars finest creations. Shame that the port is so garbage that this is unplayable. There should be laws written to make it illegal to sell product this badly optimized. This game crashes every 30 minutes and without autosave you will lose your progress. Most of the bugs are fixable with mods but it should not be die hard fans responsibility to fix their subpar product.Show moreShow less
