Where do I start? Given the game starts in the menu, Ill start there. First, the tuning menu using the potentiometer triggers to modify values, making it literally impossible to get the exact value you want in some settings like camber, as the triggers just add too much too fast. There are unused sections in the tuning menu that are clearly the sign of an unfinished game stating "MISSING VALUE" The body kit menu is impressively unintuitive and makes it very hard to understand what you are doing and what part combinations are even available. There are no labels for parts so its hard to match things up without looking at every part in the list. If you want a stock part, you'll genuinely have to look for it because the slot the stock parts take up changes from part to part, from car to car. On the point of part combinations, why do some body kits not have matching rear bumpers / skirts / fenders? I want a BN kit on my altezza, but the rear bumper doesnt exist. The Pandem kit for the NA miata doesn't have the fenders or the rear bumper. As well, some body kits require the player to have a widebody car as the game prevents you from using the stock fenders. While scrolling through the wheels (To which almost none look good IMO, where are the VSKFs? T7R? Bazreia? blitz 03? regamasters? Weds LXZ?), without intending to buy a new set, I left the menu and without any purchase prompt I had new wheels on my car that I did NOT want. There is no reason that you should be able to change the wheel size at will with the controller bumpers while installing completely unrelated parts, instead these buttons should be used to traverse the impressively bad menu UI. Sometimes when installing diffusers it can be really hard to see what you're actually installing because there's one single light source in the garage which is directly in front of the car, casting a DARK shadow on whatever diffuser may be installed. Now lets get to the driving. The controls feel terrible and unintuitive. Playing on a controller (as id imagine the majority of players will) feels terrible if you dont have controller assist on. When this assist is turned on, you literally steer the opposite direction of where the wheels are pointing so any muscle memory or previous knowledge of drifting is completely useless because in this regard, this game completely reinvented the wheel, as to put it metaphorically, for no reason. In other words, when the car is drifting around a left turn, with the wheels pointing to the right, your analog stick will be to the left with assist and to the right without it. Controller assist should make the steering inputs less jerky and more fluid instead of COMPLETELY ruining the concept of countersteering. Without holding over 30 degrees of angle, the car doesn't even feel like it's drifting, it just wants to grip up despite having tuned most of the grip out. These cars will not just slide sideways with their momentum which is extremely unrealistic for an altezza on 225s all around with double the normal tire pressure on the worst tire compound in the game. This point irks me quite more than the rest as I know how the altezza slides IRL, as I own 2. In the game, if you are sideways and press the gas pedal with no steering input, the car understeers and straightens. This is DEFINITELY NOT how the car handles in real life, when sliding a real altezza, the gas pedal does like 85 - 90% of the work keeping the car sideways and the steering wheel just is there to transition and make minor adjustments. The way these cars handle is very unrealistic and unintuitive considering how different this is from every other drift game I have tried AND the experience I have with real life drifting. I presume this is the case because the devs do not have access to each of these cars to slide IRL to emulate in game and it REALLY shows. Finally I have a few random points that just show where the care and love is and really isn't in this game. Popup headlights don't work, you either get all the way up or all the way down and you get light either way. In other words, your headlights can be down and completely hidden and magically your headlights will still emit light as if they are not. User complaints from the game's release year are still valid considering how awful the body kit menu is and how some parts don't exist. Finally, I did a better job spell checking this review than the devs did on their last patch notes (sep 24 2020). Honestly this game feels like a terrible mobile game port to PC given how bad the controls seem to be on a controller. I can completely see this changing on a small device with accelerometer based steering, because then the anti countersteering mechanic seems to fit right in line with other mobile phone drift games. Unfortunately these controls on a xbox / playstation controller are downright against what your instinct tells you. Now I don't want to sit here and say everything is terrible, by all means it isn't. This game has a TON of potential, I love the way it looks when people get past the terrible controls, I love the (albeit very limited sometimes) customization of cars, I love the variety of cars available, but without making sure that some very important Quality of Life and Quality of Driving changes are put in place, this game will always be worse than Forza motorsport and horizon, Grand Tour, and Assetto Corsa.Show moreShow less

For now I can't say I recommend this game. Coming from Asseto Corsa drifting to this game, on a G29, it feels horrible. AC drifting is superior in so many ways and AC is not even a drifting game. Tried looking up online guides on what I could be doing wrong or setups and even specific tunes for cars, but I struggle to get even the 'bronze' score since "boring"/safe non-100mph drifts don't give points. It's incredibly unbearable to play this on a wheel. "Wheel assist" is useless, you can't even turn the car with that on for some reason. Otherwise the game looks good, is probably fun if you play on keyboard or controller and the online scene feels fresh and the community isn't really toxic.Show moreShow less
I am a 41 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 16 now. My son got this game for Christmas, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just, watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. loaded into the game, got my car and map and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. loved it as it was the best time had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memoriesShow moreShow less
pros: its a decent game to mindlessly slide around, it has a fair bit of vehicles to modify, the handling is alright and its easy to get into, cons: the scoring system seems to lean alot towards insane angles and speed more than precision driving and smooth transitions and lines, the engine sounds are very bland, the global chat is like a call of duty voice chat lobby and there seem to be alot of very angry and or just vulgar people spamming there at every hours of the day, all and all it kinda feels like a half baked game, but i wouldnt recommend it mainly for the reason that it gets stale fairly quick and if ur hoping to just relax and slide around and maybe chat to people in there u are going to have wade thru alot of very angry and immature peopleShow moreShow less

"CarX Drift Racing is all about realistic driving physics" - lol nah, this game lacks forward momentum (if you're flooring the throttle and your back tires don't provide forward momentum even when maxing tire adhesion, you're not realistic) and car brakes that doesn't take 3 - 5 seconds to slow your car to a halt (from supposedly 30 mph), all this "drifting" does is visually turn your car, then the actual driving is forward with wide turning so basically you're just driving a car that is rotated 30 degrees. also i paid for the deluxe DLC... why are my tracks restricted.Show moreShow less
