Has a memory leak issue that leads to crashes that require task manager to close. As it's in essence, an idle game, I cannot recomend until this is fixed.Show moreShow less
Why did you have to release this on Steam? I had recovered, I was out.Show moreShow less
Says idler... When the game closes everyone stops making cookies. Ill keep trying the game, but I don't think a game should be called idler if I have to keep it open, Granny should be baking cookies if the game is open or not.Show moreShow less
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES RECIPE Ingredients 120g butter, softened 75g light brown sugar 75g golden caster sugar 1 medium egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 180g plain flour ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda 150g dark chocolate, cut into chunks STEP 1 Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line two baking sheets with parchment. Cream the butter and sugars together until very light and fluffy, then beat in the egg and vanilla. Once combined, stir in the flour, bicarb, chocolate and ¼ tsp salt. STEP 2 Scoop 10 large tbsps of the mixture onto the trays, leaving enough space between each to allow for spreading. Bake for 10-12 mins or until firm at the edges but still soft in the middle – they will harden a little as they cool. Leave to cool on the tray for a few mins before eating warm, or transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Will keep for three days in an airtight container.Show moreShow less
Let's be brutally honest: this is not a game, this is a social experiment on the reward system in people's brains. You click, get more things to click, let it click autonomously and the number of buscuits grows. The mroe it grows, the more you can make it grow, rinse and repeat. It's somehow gratifying, but it's more on an addiction level than a fun one. You HAVE to make that number grow to be able to make it grow even more. The related achievements just reinforce the mechanisms. But possibly the worst impact of this game is that, being idle, you can get more cookies and achievements while ignoring it, and many people leave their PC on just for the purpose of making this app farm more pointless cookies, so we have an energy impact for no reason at all. It's both brilliant and wicked at the same time. But apart from being a social experiment, it's difficult to find a reason to play this game. it's like smoking, just a tad healthier. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2981334122Show moreShow less
Fun Fact: Did you know that, when minimized, Cookie Clicker uses about 200MB of your RAM and less than 0.5% of your CPU? Fun Fact: Did you know you can have multiple Steam games open simultaneously?Show moreShow less

TLDR: great game, but this version is buggy, clogs up your ram, interferes with other games running at the same time, and any new progress made in this version can't be transferred back to the browser version, so you're boxed in. Update: The first patch is out, and it fixes 'the game will not let you close it' problem, as well as the memory leak (I think? Not 100% on that) but the interface still bugs out sometimes, and it still borks controller support. That controller thing is a really big deal, hope that gets fixed soon. I want to preface this by saying I absolutely love this game, it's great, best idle game ever made, but the steam version is in pretty rough shape right now, and if you transfer your save to the steam version, you can't transfer any new progress back to the browser version because they have different version numbers, so you're kinda stuck with it. Let me explain why that's an issue. There are three key problems with the game at the moment: it's buggy, it has a memory leak, and it breaks controller support for any other games running at the same time. The first problem is the most minor - nothing completely breaks, the interface just goes a bit wonky under certain circumstances, and, weirdly, the game will under no circumstances let you close it unless you kill the right process in the task manager. Irritating, but not a big deal. The second two problems are where the real issue lies. This is a game that wants to be running at any time your computer is on. Even with heavenly upgrades, the game punishes you for closing it with dramatically reduced CPS, so closing it should be avoided if at all possible. This wasn't really an issue with the browser version, just leave your browser open and it'll chug along in the background, but this version has a small memory leak, so it will fill up a slowly-increasing volume of RAM over time, and, imo, much more seriously, the game breaks controller support in anything else that's running because it uses a javascript library that hijacks controller input. If you want to play anything else with this game running in the background, you'd better hope it isn't a fighting game, racing game, or something else that wants to be played with a controller, or you'll need to close cookie clicker in order to use that controller. I've been playing a lot of fighting games lately so when I realised this was an issue, I figured 'no big deal, I'll just take my progress back to the web version', only you can't - the steam version has a higher version number, so any progress you make in steam is bound to steam, until the web version is updated to the same version number. I'm put in a weird position where I can only have this game running when I'm afk, or avoid playing the games I want to play in order to tiptoe around this game breaking controller support, and I can't just go back to the old version because I've made significant progress in this save that I don't want to lose. At the end of the day, if you like the original, I think you should buy it, support the dev, but maybe wait on transferring your save to steam until these issues get ironed out.Show moreShow less
