Why pay for it here when you'll still have to download executables from some Russian guy's Google Drive in order to run it on Windows 10. Get it on GOG.Show moreShow less
IMPORTANT: Do NOT buy this game on Steam! Crysis is a classic title and in my opinion one of the 5 greatest FPS games of all time. The look, the sounds, the feel, the story, the game-play. EVERYTHING is awesome about this game. Why not buy it on Steam then? No disrespect to Steam as I LOVE Steam! However, this title originally shipped on disc which is where I spent hundreds of hours of my time while in college. The disc version included a 64-bit version of the executable. This Steam version of the game does NOT include the 64-bit version of that executable file. There are ways to modify the game files to get it working however not only is it not recommended for novices it simply isn't desirable having to go through that much trouble for a game that has DRM which limits number of installations. Instead, do yourself a favor and get the version of this game sold on GOG.com which does NOT limit your number of installations as that version includes NO DRM WHATSOEVER. Also, that version includes the missing 64-bit version of the game. Why is that 64-bit version of the game so important? This title was one of the first made to support Direct X 10 when Windows Vista was terrorizing the populace. The 32-bit version of the game, especially with mods or maxed out settings, runs terribly due to poor optimization. Even if you use a 4GB patch on the 32-bit executable the game will continue to run like garbage. On the 64-bit executable you can run the game flawlessly on modern systems and experience one of the greatest FPS titles of our time. This game is incredibly fun. Go to GOG.com and pick it up cheap! EDIT: I forgot to mention one thing about this game. For some odd reason Crysis will not run properly at 60fps when playing at 1920x1080. If you play on a TV the game will lock to the cinema mode at 24fps which is game breaking. If you play on a normal computer monitor it will still screw up and lock itself to about 50fps. There are two ways to get around this... A) Lower your resolution to something else. 1680x1050 works fine for me. B) Create a custom resolution with your GPU's control panel of 1904x1071 (1920x1080 minus 16x9). This is literally the next step down from 1080p so it is so close that the game looks the same yet it tricks your TV/monitor into running at 60fps. Crysis 2 has this same dang problem and so does the original Rome:Total War.Show moreShow less
Does not work well on modern systems. Unlike other stores Steam version never has been updated with 64 bit files (workaround through 64 bit binaries from Crysis Warhead or versions from other stores), crash on AMD CPUs unless using 64 bit binaries that aren't included, crash on startup when software like MSI Afterburner is running unless with specific RivaTuner settings, prompts GameSpy install that's long been shut-down, you may run into key activation limits, etc. This should've been updated just like the GoG or Origin version has been. Buy it somewhere else or wait on the announced remaster (Edit: Nevermind, just get the GoG version and enjoy the original).Show moreShow less
I can run it on very high with 60 fps . it only took 8 years 9/10 with gtx970Show moreShow less
Don't buy the Steam version, it doesn't include the x64 files and doesn't run on newer OS's/ systems. Steam really shouldn't be selling this non working and incomplete product, or is it now the norm for Steam games for one to have to spend hours searching the web for fixes and unofficial 3rd party patches which may possibly contain malicous software. Is that the point of buying games on Steam? I don't think so, bad form Steam.Show moreShow less
The best FPS that no one could play.Show moreShow less
Great game back when nobody could play it at full settings, great game today. But online services are being shut down June 30th, 2014. So be forewarned, all that will be left is a few hour long single player campaign.Show moreShow less
But can it run Crysis?Show moreShow less
This isn't a bad game at all. It's one of the greatest shooters of all time and 10 years later it still holds up. From what I hear this game is also used more of a tool rather than a game as a benchmark for pc gaming rigs. It even gives some modern gpus a run for their money barely passing 60 fps. High end rigs back then could barely run this, let alone at MAX. Truly a testament of it's time. But that's not why I give this game a negative review. Don't let my playtime fool you, I have the original retail copy of this game and wanted a digital copy. It's the only reason I got the Steam version. The steam version of the game is just terrible. It uses 3rd party DRM (SecuROM) that is not equipped to run on modern operating systems like Windows 8 or Windows 10. It doesn't work because it doesn't include the x64 files to work on newer windows OS, unless you own the retail copy. My retail copy works fine on Windows 7 with no problems what so ever. The Steam version works on Windows 7 however if you spend a little bit of time in the menu section or when you pause it, the game freezes. There is no need for 3rd party DRM since Steam is already the DRM. My advice, get this game on GOG instead. DO NOT bother with the Steam or Origin version of the game. The game is a 10/10 but the Steam version is a 3/10. Buy it here instead: https://www.gog.com/game/crysisShow moreShow less
