My colorblindness made Cyber Hook a lot more difficult (blue is safe but purple is instant death), and while I understand that the neon asthetic would be ruined with a colorblind mode it would have been very nice to include even a grayscale mode that would use patterns on each block similar to the cross hatching that is on some of them currently. As a game focused around speedrunning I'm sure even non-casual players would enjoy having a less-distracting visual experience also, so I am unfortunately holding that against this game on top of the other qualms I had with it. As for the content of the game itself, the levels feel uninspired, like an AI created them through procedural generation and these ones were the best that came out. It feels this way because the difficulty flow from one level to the next is very jarring, with very precision perfect levels with a single hellish path thrown in randomly in between very fun levels with different paths of optional difficulties. The grapple (the mechanic that the game is focused around) feels too short. I thought I would get used to it but stuff is always just out of reach and you feel less like spider man swinging from distant buildings and more like you have one of those sticky hand toys trying to desparately fling out to something and hoping that it connects. Why is there a 'story' shoehorned in between random levels? That was the biggest part that felt out of place was the interruption of gameplay and clicking through an ambiguous mystery setup.Show moreShow less

The game mechanics are perfect, they’re on point, ant there’s a lot of potential to mess around in them. The feeling of speed and momentum that you feel when coursing through a level is amazing but, unfortunately, these mechanics are not used in meaningful ways most of the time because of the level design. This game doesn't know what it wants to be. In one level you are speeding through the obstacles, and figuring out the best way to complete it, like what you would think this game is. And the other levels they're are either tough as hell “platforming” challenges that stop the smooth flow that makes the game enjoyable, or they're hindered by dumb gimmicks. The problem with those hard levels is that, aside of killing the fast-paced gameplay, they stop your progression (there is no skip level button, so you can come later to it), and they are levels that should be in the final worlds, either because of its sheer difficulty or because they use techniques that the game doesn't teach you in any way. There's a turning point in the game when this problem gets too aggravated and the difficulty spikes, with bad level after hard level, after pointless level, and it just stops being fun altogether. Would not recommend unless the game gets a skip level button, or rearranges its levels to match their difficulty, or at the very least explains to you the techniques necessary to progress. In no game should you resort to external sources to learn how to play.Show moreShow less

Last chapter of the game ruined the rest of it for me. Devs take this fun and fast grappling hook platformer, and turn it into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ precision platformer where you traverse tiny hallways where touching anything means a restart. Which kind of sucks when you're camera is first person.Show moreShow less

Story- Bad Gameplay outside- Good Gameplay inside- Awful Aesthetics- Incredible I feel little to no motivation to get good at this game; I just want to watch someone who is good at this game while listening to the soundtrack.Show moreShow less
Cyber Hook is basically a grappling hook and a lot of momentum. At first it feels messy. You miss platforms, panic grapple and slam into walls. But after a few levels something clicks and suddenly you're flying through sections that felt impossible a few minutes earlier. The whole game lives from movement. Swing, release, adjust in mid air and hope the next platform is exactly where you thought it was. Levels are short so it quickly turns into one more run, one more clean swing. A few hours later the levels didn't really change. I did.Show moreShow less
I mean... it's not bad, it's just that Verlet Swing was just so much better, that this kinda feels like a waste of time. A major issue for me is that i find it really hard to evaluate how much you need to be close to a platform to be able to grapple, it kind of ruins it.Show moreShow less
