Do not let the camera angle confuse you, this is NOT an ARPG. Don't expect to be going in playing a Diablo style game. There are some similarities but in reality this is simply an isometric action adventure. And its well done! The combat is very fun and so far I highly recommend it!Show moreShow less
I dont really get why the ratings are so high, this game has huge gamebreaking bugs thay the devs know about but refuse to fix because they dont take their players seriously. Buggest bug that cost me and a buddy 4 hours of time: Chapter 4, last puzzle of the map is bugged. Was mentioned early december on the community hub by 5+ players and devs just said its intended. Its not, some people managed to glitch their way to the next area or like us, replay the entire 1+ hour map on solo mode, so the puzzle is different. Also bugs like characters and monsters getting stuck is quite common. Jumps that are impossible to make, invisible walls etc. The game could be amazing, because there is lots of cool stuff in here. But frustration keeps us from enjoying it so I give it 5/10. If you manage to get a good sale <15$ id say try it if you like the genre and are okay with bugs. Otherwise stay away.Show moreShow less

DISCLAIMER. I have fully completed the game as a duo online co-op playthrough. I have no knowledge whether some points are entirely true for solo experience. I had fun with the game but the negatives made it near impossible to recommend. Visuals - nice setting with different "bioms of Hell" as you progress through the story. Great cinematics. Lots of skills and attacks effects as the genre requires. Camera - cannot say it is good. Sometimes camera placement made it hard to understand where you are at compared to world objects (hard for jumping and gliding). Gameplay - just what you expect from a top-down hack and slash game. You see enemies, you mash buttons, you kill enemies. Simple, yet good. Story - as someone who hasn't played any other Darksiders games I feel like in order to know the whole thing I must play the other parts. Too many references and lore that I did not understand. Contols - I need to mention the game mentions on launch that it is meant to play with controller. I used mouse and keyboard and I absolutely hated it. Character jumps off the ledges instead of up, gliding trajectory ends up with your death because of slight changes. Got stuck several times with some actions. There were also cases when your player just stopped moving after other actions even when you still pressed the WASD keys. Sounds - mostly good. R.I.P. to ears on game launch and some minor effects, though. Waaay to loud even when overall sound was lowered. Bugs/crashes/etc. - there were A LOT of those. Some are heavy, even game breaking. Those include: friend missing game currency (Trickster Keys) while everything was completed according to level stats, random crash mid-level, character stuck during new location entry scene (leading to mission abandon) and many others. New Game+ - there is no such thing as NG+ here. After completing the game once you open new difficulty. You have all your gear and upgrades installed, enemies have more health and they hit harder. But that's that. Nothing new, all the same missions, no point of doing it besides achievements. Co-op mode - weird and broken. Host gets his potions replenished every mission, invited person does not. Invited person gets to keep their transformation meter between missions, host gets his emptied. Final boss seem to be always focusing invited person, ignoring host player. We ended up in a situation where melee body-blocked boss (making him stand still unless you trigger his health-condition validation levels for special attacks) while ranged character shot him from safe distance. To sum it up, bugs may be endured but they greatly reduce the overall fun from playing this title. If you are interested in this world and story, you must play other titles or you will end up with the cliffhanger ending and overall confused state just like I did. Not recommended. Absolutely avoid for full price, think twice when on sale.Show moreShow less
Pros: - Great story - Decent gameplay - Good graphics - Runs smooth - Good balance of skill sets - Easy to understand, simple and idiot-proof - Decent price - No looting or skill tree (if you're into a more straight forward game where you buy certain skills) - Great coop feature, easy to join Cons: - Game doesn't really tell you what items the enemies drop - Map is horrible - no indicator of where you exactly are on the map - Little bugs here and there - getting stuck (unable to move - need to rejoin game), bosses glitching and bugging out - No mini-map - Don't see an end game once the story is completed, there seems to be only ARENA. Rating: 8.5/10 - definitely get it if your in for a good story and something to play whilst waiting for another game to come out. Or if you're into the Darksiders Series like myself.Show moreShow less
1. Do you intend to play this with keyboard and mouse or do you have a game controller? If you have a controller, I imagine your experience will be way more pleasant than mine. This game is made for controllers and it shows in a few keyspots. For example, you will have to race through time in a map called Windswept chasm as it falls into ruin behind you. You will need to make jumps that may not be at exactly 45, 90, 135, or 180 degrees (which you are rather limited to on a keyboard). You will need to make quick landings and finagle with your keys to try to reorient yourself before many jumps. With the thumb stick of a controller, choosing your orientation is relatively easy. It is not so on a keyboard with the WASD keys. You will go nuts while you try to press the "s" and "d" keys to try to go obliquely down and time is running out... You will end up dying many times on the map just because you are penalised for using a keyboard... You get the point? This is not always a problem but it happens often enough to be rather frustrating. Oh and even the instructions about specific moves in the game are still written for controllers. Good luck figuring the equivalent key on PC. Luckily, you can reconfigure your keys (not that this will help you know that you need to hold Ctrl and then Shift to target each fires with the Vorpal Blade). (your welcome, I just saved you a Google search). ;) 2. How old are you and how many years of gaming do you have? Are you tired of games where you can't use your brain to figure something out but need to repeat it many times to understand how it works? Then this game may not be for you. I thought this sort of gameplay had disappeared long ago. 3. On the same vein : do you like a fighting style where you need to learn combos? Then this game is for you. But there is ... 4. No tutorial, despite the fact that you can tick "tutorial on". There are very basic instructions in the game about cores and how to attribute powerups in your "collection" but it is very limited and not clear at all. This means you are in the dark about upgrading your character. Not fun. Odd. I had LOTS of fun with the first two Darksiders. A shame the 2019 version is such a let down for me. I hope with these words you will be able to make it fun for you. GET A CONTROLLER if you want to play it! :)Show moreShow less

Well, here it is. I gave it over 30 hours of gameplay... This game was either never tested or tested by an audience who didn't care. Music is amazing. Graphics are top-notch. Storyline is okay, and funny enough to be considered well thought out. But it ends there. The camera angles are rigid and frustrating to an extreme degree at times. Simple platformer tasks like, jumping on platforms, is sometimes impossible without 15 tries. All because of the odd camera angles. The glitches ... oh so many glitches. Collectibles not registering in your inventory; Getting stuck in walls ... or sometimes just getting stuck in a wide open room; Gamepad controls becoming unresponsive until you unplug and replug the controller(s) in; And many many more. I paid good money for this game and I can't get a return at this point, so i WILL complete it. But man it's frustrating at times. I would maybe wait until more patches come out... Or maybe its better on consoles.Show moreShow less

VERDICT: This is the first Darksiders I've played and it certainly left me wanting more, the reason I started with this game is because it's based before the original Darksiders. If the other games are anything like this then I'll enjoy them immensely, the main pointers are the character designs and voice acting, their spot on and fit the characters brilliantly, the second point would be the combat style, It's so smooth and you can tell the characters get stronger with each passing level. Aside from the odd glitch I got when finishing of enemies the gameplay is great! I was left a little disappointed with the story aspect, it started off strong but as the story progresses, it started to go a little dull and the ending was nothing short of disappointing. Unless they carry this on in their coming games, the cliff hanger wasn't appreciated! Total Score = 78/100. SIMILAR GAME LIKE THIS? / REVIEWER PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Lost Ark, Grim Dark. GAMEPLAY: Darksiders Genesis is a top-down hack and slash action role-playing. It is considered a spin-off prequel game in the Darksiders series and introduces the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, as the protagonist. Strife can also team up with his brother, War. ■■■■■■■□□□ 7 / 10 The jumping puzzles... Mmmmm'wah! Gorgeous! I loved the first 2 Darksiders games and somewhat enjoyed the third, but this one is mostly bland. The art style is nice and the team-up between Strife and War works pretty well as both have different personalities. That being said, the gameplay just didn't click with me at all. I found bossfights to boil down to killing adds while whittling down a huge health bar. Every enemy knocks you back with ease and, in turn, are not phased by your own attacks at all. You can use dodge to get away, but it isn't as responsive as I would like. Overall combat just felt weightless and unsatisfying. I did play this as a solo-experience only, so it might be better in co-op (which most games are). Sadly this one isn't for me and I don't want to force myself to play through the rest of it.Show moreShow less
