Disclaimer: I survivor main. I play games for fun, not for competition, so the DBD community doesn't really get to me. If I get a bad killer that face camps, oh well. I die and move on to the next game. If I get a good killer who finds me immediately, hooks me (bc I can't juke whoops), and then patrol camps (which I'm 100% OK with), then no biggie. Next game please~ I think a lot of the community salt from killers comes from dealing with rank one survivors that don't actually play the game properly and just run around and flash the killer in the face. And while that is a legitimate strategy, it takes away from the fun of the game in my opinion. As a killer (a horrible one), I've also been called names by survivors who tell me to 'get gud.' Older players ruin it for newer players or players who don't put in 1000s of hours. Just relax and have fun with the game! So what if you don't pip up - there is always the next game :) That being said, this game is crazy fun. Don't let the saltiness of the community keep you from buying the game. Grab it, have fun with it, and ignore anyone who might give you a hard time ;) And don't fixate too much on the ranking process unless you're absurdly highly competitive for some reason (also fine - just try not to let it push you into spouts of anger!), and even then, recognize that there are jerks who play this game, like any other game, and have fun while you compete!Show moreShow less
The game has a lot of potential but is ran by people that don't have a vision and only care about themselves and what they think is best for the game. I have played since 2016 Beta and have more than 10,000 hours of actual playtime on this (my personal account) and previously worked at BHVR on the game. If this was years ago.. I would have recommended the game without any question. However, with the game's current state and direction, I could never recommend it to anyone under any circumstance. It's just going downhill and that's the reality of it. They are partnering with anyone in an attempt to stay relevant and keep quarterly stats up but that only lasts for a week and then it's back to being a dead game for the most part. If you ever decide to work at this company, just note that your personal account is at high risk of being permanently banned if you are accused of anything and are wrongfully terminated as a result. They will not only ban your dev account (which is fine) but your personal account as well, which is actual bullsh*t and petty. I'm living proof of this. They won't conduct a proper and thorough investigation behind their claims before terminating an employee and will sh*t all over your 6-years of dedicated gameplay, time spent and work into a product that you once loved and cared for to the point that you even took a job to work on the game to make it better not just for yourself but for the community who also loves the game. Clueless company making clueless decisions on a game that they're clueless about since they don't play it. I was one of the literal few at the company who has more than 4,000 hours of actual gameplay in the game. P.S. they still haven't fixed the IP leak vuln that has been the cause of people being DDoSed, doxed, swatted and much more. They've known about it for over 2 years now and refuse to fix something so simple while knowing what the root cause of it is and know what exactly to fix. Just to give you an idea of how little they care... I brought this up before and during my time working there and it was never fixed. We're now going into 2023 with this vulnerability that's been in the game for over 4+ years. Still think BHVR cares about you now? Their main focus is and always has been to make money and that's why this issue has never been addressed even though their own Fog Whisperers like Otzdarva, Elix and many others have questioned why they haven't fixed it yet and are victims to these issues. Their priorities are all over the place and have no idea how to run a game company let alone keep the community safe. It's pretty evident that these are the facts. They would rather ban innocent people than to solve the huge security risks and flaws in the game. It's disgusting and this type of "behaviour" should not be condoned. I'm more surprised Valve/Steam is even allowing the game to remain playable on their platform considering the company refuses to fix these issues that is allowing these events take place. Cheaters? I won't get into that. Everyone knows the answer to this already. The company looks at them as paying customers that deserve respect (direct quote from an employee that's in a leadership role btw) and would rather keep them around than get rid of them entirely. -Safety Depips / Beast / AntiddosShow moreShow less

This community is so nice and helpful, I got a lot of tips on how to uninstall the game and kill myself.Show moreShow less
I played DBD about 1030 hours. But one day, my account was initialized with an error message. All the killers and survivors's level became Level 1. And all items and perks are disappeared. I submitted a ticket to the DBD team about this matter with Steam ID64, Cloud ID, Leaderboard records, evidence photos. But they refused to compensate me, saying they couldn't find anything strange in their logs. Rather, they said that if you keep providing false information, you'll be punished strongly. Then, they closed the agenda obstinately. I really loved this game, but now I feel betrayed. I would never recommend it. There are so many bugs in this game and no compensation for the victim. Even the crew doesn't have basic manners. Don't buy this game. Don't waste your money and life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buckymanny (Dead by Daylight) Dec 9, 2020, 9:40 EST Hello, Thanks for your message. We have found no evidence of lost progress in our logs so respectfully, I will be closing this ticket. We appreciate your understanding. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is the last answer from Buckymanny of the DBD team. In the last request, I said "If you don't believe the information, I could give you my Steam ID and password, so if you want, tell me". BUT He closed the agenda with this answer when nothing was been fixed. Show moreShow less

Removing this Privacy Policy from at least the video game would make me happy to keep supporting it forever. Until that changes, goodbye.Show moreShow less
When it’s fun, it’s REALLY fun. Chases feel intense, you try little mind games, you barely make it through a window or drop a pallet at the last second… those moments are still great. Especially if you play with friends, it turns into pure chaos in a good way. But there’s definitely another side to it. Things are far from perfect. Sometimes the game can feel pretty unfair depending on the killer or perks. Matchmaking is also weird one match feels super easy, and the next one you get completely destroyed without even understanding what happened. Playing solo is a whole different struggle too. You never really know what your teammates are doing someone goes down in the first minute, someone is hiding in a corner… and suddenly the match turns into chaos, but not the fun kind. On top of that, there’s the usual toxic behavior from some players unnecessary BM, rage quits, people throwing games… it can really kill the mood. The technical side isn’t great either. You’ll run into bugs, weird hitboxes, laggy moments, or sound issues from time to time. There are plenty of moments where you just go “how did that even hit me?” Updates help, but they don’t fix everything. And then there’s the grind. It takes time. Unlocking perks, leveling characters, building the setup you actually want… especially if you’re new, it requires a lot of patience. Plus, there’s the whole DLC and cosmetic system, which can feel like a lot to keep up with. Still, I keep coming back. There’s just nothing else quite like it. It’s frustrating, it can drive you crazy sometimes, but it’s also weirdly addictive. If you’re okay with getting tilted now and then and you like horror games, you’ll probably still enjoy it.Show moreShow less
"Nothing is meant to be fair, and apparently by design" - Mathieu Cote (Game director On Dead by Daylight) Now I will try to explain why I write a negative review despite having a lot of hours and constantly playing this game to this day. From a psychological standpoint: The game lures people into gambling addiction on purpose! If you're online enough, you could have seen people complaining over the fact that they don't really appreciate Dead by Daylight but they are unable to quit it. The fun fact is the game that is based a lot on RNG factors, aka luck, and tries to look "competetive" develops gambling addiction. It's the core issue. You win, then you lose, after that you go for another match to show off your skills of defeating the unfair events and survive or kill every survivor. It's addiction is based on a constant feeling of irritation, the developers acknowledged it during one of their interviews. Gambling addiction funnily comes from losing, not winning. It will make you want to go into another match to blow the steam off after getting defeated previously and finally succeed. Yet you will still be annoyed by everything. By one of the most toxic communities, by poor balance decisions, countless bugs, cheaters. Despite bringing the feeling of satisfaction sometimes, your mental state overall will be worse by the end of most play sessions as you get drained out. You won't play this game because you like it, you will play it because you're addicted to the constant feeling of surpassing the irritation waiting for that perfect match to boost your dophamine. And the worst part is that you will feel rewarded because of the fact that you got luckier than players who are there to mock you and verbally abuse you by the end of a game no matter if they win or lose. It's not healthy no matter how you look at it. Even if you have "thick skin", it's simply unenjoyable to waste your time on such people when you think about it. And it's even more unenjoyayable to play a game where the developers do not make attempts at discouraging bad mannerism of the community. PVP games have toxic enviroment more often than not in general but at least they try making the gameplay more skill dependant and you can actually feel rewarded for your skill. Not luck, RNG. From an account security point: The developers and the publisher, Behaviour or BHVR for short, are extremely incompetent. There's a very meaningful review in the top ones from a person who used to work there that I really recommend reading if you haven't done so. With the date of the review it's laughable that such issues described are still there. As an example of the incompetence, simple griefers could have banned people: they went online, started streaming while pretending to be a person they want to ban. With no investigation, staff has sent out bans to the actual users without any real capability to appeal the ban properly as support is very quick at closing submitted tickets. And they put HWID bans, so your EAC, Easy Anti Cheat program, will detect your hardware. DDoS attacks happen too often in this game as well, be aware if you still want to play it for some reason despite all of the valid point made in many negative reviews. This game has a large number of cheaters especially for an online game that is also not free. I don't even talk about subtle onces, they are actually just customers for the developers as they said so themselves, look at the review of the person who worked there. I talk about the onces who straight up can keep you in a match for an hour while they break the game. Talking about the other reasons why I can't recommend this game: - The grind is too excessive and aknowledged to be a burden. It requires you to waste too much time grinding and paying despite not being a free game. Licenced characters can only be purchased via real money and if you want to get original ones for free, you need to put 50-60 hours for each character. And there are so many of them, it may take 850-1.020, if not more, hours to gain them all for free. Even more, considering they still add characters. This monetization policy is applicable for "free to play" games but Dead by Daylight has a noticable price already. Then you also need to spend time getting another ingame currency to level up said characters, even licensed ones, even more hours on top of that, which BHVR cannot seem to be willing to fix as the game's base code is so flawed its literally impossible to make a change like that, as they admitted. - The publisher is awful. The developers work on their game under flowed decision making of the higher-ups. I would want you to read BHVR workplace reviews! Therefore, the game's "health" has never been a priority even when it's being stated as a goal. Pumping out content for money at the expense of its quality is the real goal. Not to mention the practices of layoffs, tokenism, mistreatment of the community and the workers. - Lack of fundamental gameplay diversity! The game feels dull actually. It doesn't have anything to do with the amount of hours one may have. The reason why you may be entertained for long enough is, again, RNG of the whole gameplay loop. We have no new content base gameplay additions, only new skins, killers and perks that kind of change gameplay in very illusive ways. Perks themselves don't do much outside of boosting efficiency of your actions that are few and same. Currently the game has a small number strong perks that the community takes and the other perks are not being used at all unless a player wants to feel less powerful for fun that often backfires with how unhealthy the community is. Instead of constantly working on the previous perks and killers the developers prefer to make new perks and killers for the sake of pumping up money even though new content ends up being recycled previous ideas and concepts. They rarely change anything, it's lucky to have a patch with some big interesting changes at least once a year. - Silencing of the community. The moderation on Steam and the official forum will most likely ban you for showing excessive concern about the game's health since if you complain too much, it ends up spreading negativity. This creates a false sense of positivity on official platforms when the community is constantly annoyed with BHVR. - Little to no user protection. I will point it out again, the support isn't really helpful and deals with many issues quite poorly. The in-game report system only flags certain players, they won't get banned if you press a few buttons there. To have a person banned for sure you need to take extensive amount of steps and most of the times you need proof. So if you don't have your games recorded or any other evidence, you can't sumbit tickets to support effectively. Not to mention that you need to nearly fight with support stuff for them to take actions over a legitimate report that may involve your harassment. - Unnecessary FOMO practices. There are constant FOMO practices like exclusive battlepass skin recolors, limited-time cosmetic colllections. - Lack of true authenticity. The game lives off licenced content while having little to none original noteworthy authenticity, recent failed releases of BHVR tied to the game's franchise prove that. Please, do not support this mess. It looks fun on the outside but it's a mess.Show moreShow less
