The game is not bad, it's MMO survival where you loot, eat, kill zombies and terrible mutants, I would recommend this game without hesitate but the developer himself is just drama lord who can't take criticism, actually you can get banned in-game for criticising his game, 2 youtubers got banned for that, and that crybaby developer with his narcissistic mods don't care and keep on abusing community over and over. Tbh, their official discord is basically full of diehard toxic fans, mods who censor any bans and developer who doesn't care about community at all and I won't be surprised if AdminPwn will add p2w mechanics and screw everything up since that's what happened with DF1, he doesn't listen to the fans, hes another YandereDev when it comes to developing, every update brings terrible gamebreaking bugs, example: I entered a room and realized the door i entered now require key and I was stuck, or zombies lost their AoE abilities and game became even more repetitive and easy. Both of these situations happened after AdminPwn updating the game "for better" I really wanted to give this game positive review, it's not bad, even atmosphere is made really well, but I can't say it's worth to play when developer seems like total toxic idiot who can't stand critique. If you want some proof about bans, check Broda ty or ZeroLife.Show moreShow less

I'm going to start this review saying a few things that you need to keep in mind when reading. A.) I love Dead Frontier, I have played it for years, nearly a decade, it was and is the best browser game to this day in my opinion. B.) This is not a negative review, this is a neutral review. C.) For you time strapped folks, there is a TL;DR at the bottom. With that said, let's kick this off. Gameplay The gameplay of Dead Frontier 2 (DF2) is as slow and creeping as the first, you start with next to nothing, and you make contact with other survivors for missions that grant you EXP and Cash. You do this while looting and either killing zombies or avoiding them. Missions can range from extremely easy find evidence of a survivor, living or dead or extremely hard such as kill 257 zombies in one building. There is almost no rhyme or reason for the rewards, as the easy one may grant, say, 160 cash and 300 XP, but the kill 257 zombies will give you around 120 cash and less XP. Missions, unless in a zone well over your level are barely worth it, they are more or less something to do while looting, though some will get in the way by taking up spaces in your inventory with mission items. Looting itself is... Something is wrong with it. I have had runs where I will find huge amounts of the same item in a row (a friend found 20+ fuels in a row in the Princess Hotel... In one run.) I have similar results often, usually with antiseptic sprays and orange juice. A majority of the loot, especially gear, is worthless. They don't sell for much, once you have a superior, you don't need other superiors as they'll have maybe a 1% stat difference, if any. Rares are much the same story, once you have a rare, you never really need to look back at superiors, even if they're higher level. Loot is also subject to your level. You can loot junk below your level, but never above, which makes going to higher level areas pointless. Areas are also frustrating to loot themselves. Every room is seperated, but the problem is, in some buildings there are what seem to be 100s of rooms... 100s of loading screens, and you need to go through them twice. This game is actually Door Opening Simulator 2018. On top of that, this game is almost entirely close quarters. Outdoor areas are extremely small and only serve as hubs for entry doors, in which you will find more doors, some doors requiring keys, but that key is locked in another room that requires a door, er, key. Keys open doors that lead to either a boss which will drain you of a majority of your ammo and then drop some level 0 pants, despite being in a level 10 or 15 zone. My friends just ignore bosses entirely, because ammo is friggin expensive, and nothing they drop is worth it. Period. Combat is where this game is severely lacking in almost all aspects. Guns are effective, but ammunition is extremely expensive unless you sell a lot of meds, or ammo for other weapons. You will never loot enough ammo to sustain yourself for any length of time, except maybe if you get a piece of gear with Ammo Find % on it, even then, doubtful. So, ammo is expensive, but melee is an option... Sort of. Melee is dreadful in this game. It's slow, clunky, and damn near useless later in the game when zombies can puke (and they have no indication that they can puke, until they do.) There is a trick to making melee less dangerous, but it's still bad, very bad, especially early. The friend I was playing with made a melee focused build. After dying and being totally helpless against crows and worm hordes, he ended up spending all of his money on pistol ammo and began immitating John Wick, until tragically being carried away by a "storm of crows." The enemies in this game are frustrating. The standard zombies are fine themselves, but the special infected are frustrating to fight, and not worth it. And even later when you get to Coopertown, normal infected become a chore, as when you kill them they drop little worm enemies, who deal about 10 health damage, are damn near impossible to see, and make no sound at all. And almost every. zombie. drops them. You spend more time looking at the floor in this game than a game called Killing Floor! Progressions is extremely slow, you level slowly as the max level is 20, but most weapons and gear are locked between 5 levels. So at level 5, you will be using the Scout as a rifle for a long time before you can even find a Mauser. Slow leveling isn't an issue itself, but there is nothing else to progress in as you work on your main level outside of earning cash, which, after you get enough at a certain level will become fairly useless. Lastly, it is extremely easy to gimp your character if you don't allocate points properly, and you need to spend 200 Credits (5USD) to reset, or tough it out until you can prestige. This game lacks variety severely, which I imagine will change as content is added, but this review is for it's current state. Visuals The game, while not incredibly advanced in the graphics department, provides a genuinely creepy atmosphere. Areas are creepy/eerie as hell, the enemies look good, though some of the zombies look like barbie dolls, they mostly look really good, especially that weird Medusa guy you can't look at without taking damage. The major issue I have with the visuals in this game is the UI is just terrible. Especially for the marketplace. Selling or buying is just a chore if you don't want to blindly throw numbers out there to see which sells. It would be nice if we could consolidate the buying and selling screens into one where we can quickly flip to one or the other without exiting the entire menu. Sounds Sound is good, the guns sound fine aside from the pistols sounding suppressed despite not being suppressed. The rifles sound boomy and nice, as do the shotguns. The melee hit sound is delightfully impactful. Ambient noise is outstanding, the radios you'll hear in apartments are very creepy and well done. I especially like the one that plays the weird childlike melody. Only issue I have with the sound is a lot of times, zombies just won't make any when they waltz into the room, leading me to get a nasty bite when i'm trying to drink the 5th orange juice I found in a severed hand. TL;DR Good +Excellent atmosphere +Easy to learn +Market is still fun to play +Gunplay is alright +Non-intrusive hunger/thirst system +Good variety of skills to level up Bad -Melee is horribly clunky and dangerous -Game is extremely slow, even slower than the original -So many doors -Loot is generally terrible, especially for bosses -Missions are barely worth it -Almost no outdoor content -No incentive to challenge yourself with higher level zones -Frustrating enemies -Bad User Interface -No professions This game holds a lot of potential, understandably this is in beta and I'm sure some of what I listed will change overtime, just as DF1 on release looks nothing like, nor does it hold a candle to the current game. If you're looking for a decent, free time killer and like zombies, give this a go. If you don't have a lot of free time and patience, pass this one up. And again, I'm not saying this game is bad, I like it actually, just steam won't allow neutral reviews. :/Show moreShow less

Unfortunately I can't recommend this game, though it kinda bothers me to say that because the game itself is actually pretty good. It's a little barebones at the moment, early access obviously, but it does a lot really well. The game sets atmosphere well, weapons and melee combat are pretty solid and are constantly being improved. Missions and objectives give a sense of purpose in a world where your ultimate goal is to just survive. Food and water necessities keep you looting even if you're in danger, unless you have money, where a fully functional player driven auction system will have what you need for sure. That being said, I can confirm the developer of this game and his moderator staff he's chosen would rather you either play the game and love it, or shut your mouth and go somewhere else. Criticism, both of the game and of the official discord server for the game, will get you harrassed in chat by the long time supporters of the game and moderation staff alike, until you are eventually removed anyway. I watched someone ask for a couple of problem folks to simply steer the conversation back to the topic of the game, only to watch most of the yellow supporters jump on him about being new, getting the mods involved who joined in, and then he was banned. According to the mods themselves, right out of their mouths, the lead developer is aware of this and does not care, encouraging his team to deal with issues by calling them "soft ass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" if you will excuse the language. His words, not mine. I realize the product is rated Mature, but there's no reason why you can't have a chat be decent to new players, and it's not wrong to expect the main place for the game to not be filled full of trolls you are encouraging to act like that. tl;dr: The game is decent but the developers attitude towards community management sucks and the discord is a cesspool. I would steer clear, there are other free to play games that aren't being led by someone who is apparently delusionalShow moreShow less
You better find ammunition soon. Being this game one of the most wishlisted free to play games on steam I believe most of you know what the game is about and what is Dead frontier 1, so this is a game set in an apocalyptic environment with few survivors. Most of my playtime is from the closed beta so there should be patches fixing most of the problematic stuff. Gameplay Combat Equip your two favourite weapons, ranged or melee and start fighting for your life against an eventually infinite amount of enemies, at the moment using melee is not a profitable option, unless you have literally zero ammunition because using any melee weapon requires to do close encounters, and the probability to get hit is extremely high and you don't want your life points under a certain number because the screen will turn half red half grey turning to a disgusting grey when under 10% and if you have no bandages or nothing to heal, I bet you will consider suiciding to take that screen color off. When you are not fighting you are looking for items to equip or consumables to survive in the environment. Duration and Replayability This is a grind game where the only way to level up is killing infected people and killing other players because PVP is an option, but at the moment I see no profit on doing that so just focusing on killing zombies everywhere will grant us levels, you can access other areas being level 1, but there are recommendations in every area of a certain level so you can go with perks and skills unlocked as well as with the necessary experience to survive. There is a maximum level but after you reach, let's say level 20, you can reset it and get an extra permanent ability point that will stay with you after every level reset so each one of those will make us feel stronger even if we are lvl 1 again. More deeply Characters and environment Most of the environment is completely destroyed or on fire but when you come inside the building it doesn't look so bad, just deserted and with the windows covered with anything people could get. So the streets and buildings after all have the same pattern and everything looks repetitive. On the other side, we can customize our character and choose between several options to make our character look like almost from all continents. Another weird fact of all the characters is that you can go nude (realistic but a big problem for streamers till a patch enable an option to censure it) Skills unlike Dead Frontier 1 in this game we improve our character with skills, getting one point every level we add to our character, some skills may end on new abilities like dodge chance or being able to do kick boxing and throw the enemies to a distance meanwhile other players use that in advantage. Graphics The developers managed to create graphics friendly for all kind of specs, if you go and take a look to their old game, you will see that the specs requirement for DF1 weren't high at all (browser game) but for this second game they jumped into something bigger, they wanted everyone to be able to play the game and this are the results, a potato mode for people with lower specs and of course a high graphics mode for those with better graphic cards and tons of options to put on or off depending on your budget. Not pay to win? Developers have stated that the game micro transactions won't affect in users advantage, doing use only of cosmetics, character or storage slots. Well, storage slots are one of the most important facts of the game, in the first safe zone we can do use of a crate called Account stash that as default has 22 slots, meanwhile our character has 20, believe me when I say that in the first hour you may have your inventory full and you will start sharing your inventory with that crate, so one of the things that you can buy with that beautiful dollar note is extra slots for the account stash and this actually helps more than nothing, enabling you to eventually never end in need of space. Rating Pros •PC friendly game, you won't need a 800€ pc to play this game and much less to enjoy it since if you check the potato link above, it may look better than with lot of graphic upgrades. At least I got the feeling of being more immersed into the game with all the mist around. •Obviously had to mention that this game is free to play and there is a possibility of not being pay to win in the future so what else could we ask. Cons •After all I feel like the game is pretty small and repetitive with the only option to save this being renovate buildings and change enemies to make them look differently every time. Final thoughts. I really enjoyed Dead Frontier 1 and I have to see this second one as an upgrade but at the moment there is lack of content, most of the buildings in each zone are have the same labyrinthic designs and when I just spent hours and hours grinding zombies and managing to survive to reach another area, I would like different designs but I played the game even before the release so for the job done I'll give the game the benefit of the doubt regarding the design and else. There is a bug that when you log into a lobby it just takes you to a random lobby, I tried to play with a friend for 15 minutes and we couldn't find each other. And they seem to have problems checking user emails, hope they fix this. So more people will prefer Dead Frontier 1 to 2 at this very moment. This was fixed in less than one day.Show moreShow less
I enjoyed DF2 quite a lot. It's a nice break from the every day "You're the main character, so you slaughter everyone". In here you're but a civilian who seems to have never held gun before. You won't hit anything if you try moving while aiming, and melee'ing is also quite hard. It's only until mid-late game (lvl 15-20+) that you actually feel like you can take on a 5+ zombies confidently, and if built and geared properly, you'll become an absolute killing machine at 25-30. Then you prestige back to level 1. And you forget you ever met a gun before. Sigh. Despite that, it's not really the reason why I no longer support DF or am leaving a neg review. I had account issues and attempted to contact support both through Discord and Dead frontier's website. But there is NO support at all. Nada. It has been two and a half weeks, I've filed three tickets, one of them even in Dead Frontier 1 support site, yet there hasn't been a single reply. It's like it wasn't even read. As someone who's played all DF games, even its very first flash games, I gotta say, Neil is the kind of guy who has good ideas and promises to deliver them... But drops the ball every time. Then you give him another chance, and he drops it again. He's been doing this for years. Enough's enough.Show moreShow less

Decent game at the start. Get stale real quick end-game. Literally just opening doors, killing the same 5 bosses over and over for loot. You'd probably spend more time sitting in Discord to buy the items you need rather than actually playing. However, the worst thing is that the devs and community moderators are banning players' game accounts for leaving criticism and arguing on Discord. The community mod is rude, and will mock players for criticizing too much. The developer would side with the mod and ban players for demanding an apology??? I don't see much future in a game like this.Show moreShow less
