BROKEN DRM - EA & VALVE HAVE ABANDONED THIS PRODUCT WARNING: Do not buy this game. As of 2026, the legacy SecuROM/Solidshield DRM is a "kill-switch" for long-term owners. If you upgrade your PC or reinstall Windows, you will be permanently locked out by an "Activation Limit Exceeded" error that neither the publisher nor the seller will fix. The Support "Ping-Pong": EA Support (Case #239169197) refuses to reset limits, claiming they are "prohibited" from helping Steam users. Steam Support (Agents Liz, Joe, and Ernst) will ignore your evidence, hide behind a 14-day refund script, and lock your tickets to avoid escalation. The Ultimate Irony: I had to use a community "Fixed EXE" just to launch the game I legally own. Steam Support then used that 1 hour of "repair playtime" as proof the game "works" to deny a refund. They are literally penalizing customers for being tech-savvy enough to fix a broken product. A 15-Year Systemic Failure: From reviews in 2011 to recent reports in February 2026 (shoutout to Hex and others), the story is the same: this is a "zombie" product. For 19-year veterans with high-value accounts (over $8,600 USD), Valve has shown that your loyalty means nothing compared to protecting a defunct DRM policy. How to play: > If you already own it, ignore support. Go to PCGamingWiki for the activation limit fix. For CPUs with 10+ cores, you MUST use a core affinity launch command or the game will crash. I have been a loyal Steam customer since 2007, but after being treated like a "troublesome" user for wanting a product I paid for to actually work, I will be taking my main business to GOG from now on. Update on Steam's 'Evidence': The 1 hour of playtime they used to deny my refund wasn't even the Steam version. I had to add the EA App version as a Non-Steam game just to get it to boot. Steam tracked the playtime of a different version of the game and used it as 'proof' that their broken SecuROM version works. You cannot make this level of incompetence up.Show moreShow less
Back when EA make good gameShow moreShow less
THIS GAME IS GREAT! BUY IT! Why the negative review? Because EA f****d up. EA added a DLC (surprise, surprise), that unlocks nearly everything, but they didnt even get that right, because some stuff is still missing. They didnt even let us know about this change at all, meaning that every single one of you now has everything unlocked from the very first shop without even knowing about it beforehand. What baffles me the most is how EA actually came up with the idea to make something stupid like that. I mean they made a lot of dumb stuff, but this one takes the cake, because it takes away a core part from the game. It breaks the immersion, and takes away the "grind" for better stuff. First they kill off the Franchise, and now they try to destroy the predecessor. Instead of giving us PC Players the Severed DLC, they just gave us this. I'm just speechless. Thank you EA for massacring this masterpiece like that. Unbelievable. EDIT: To clear out some confusion i will explain a few points that came up in the comments... 1.) By saying "THIS GAME IS GREAT! BUY IT!", i meant that you should get it from somewhere else without this DLC, or remove this stuff manually ingame to experience it the full way without this useless DLC Stuff. 2.) This DLC adds new Stuff that shouldnt be in the game, and makes those things free and avaible from the start. 3.) The biggest Problem with this is that we are forced to have this DLC even if we dont want it. On consoles you have to buy it as far as i know, but here you have it without even knowing about it. 4.) While i removed the part where i gave Steam part of the fault, i still want to let you guys know about that "theory" i guess, that i found on reddit back when i wrote that review: "Oh, that's Steam's fault. EA released a patch for PC, which contains all the non-story DLC (PC users didn't get any chance/way to buy it) for free (that is what you're seeing in the store) and it was meant to be applied after the first playthrough, however as Steam applies all patches when the game is installed you got all the DLC content in the first store." Thats what a user wrote about this. I dont know how true that is, thats why i dont mention it in my review.Show moreShow less
A game where you can legally stomp infected babies and shoot alien zombie kids. 10/10 would recommend to friendsShow moreShow less
EA stealing from paying customers while Dead Space 2 is still being actively distributed It's blatant theft. You're effectively renting the game and will be locked out after some time. Violating consumer rights and caused solely by EA and their internal arbitrary decisions. They could have patched the game, but decided to abandon all support for their outdated system, leaving the game in a bricked state without giving buying customers a warning or delisting the game. It will affect all buyers. https://consumerrights.wiki/w/Dead_Space_2_activation_limit_lockoutShow moreShow less

I do Not recommend buying this game for 1 MAIN reason, it uses "Solidshield" as it's DRM which limits how many times you can instal the game.this might Not be a bother for some But to me this is a SLAP in my face. If i knew this game Or Any other game bought through steam limits how many times i can instal my game i WILL NEVER buy this type or DRM. This FLATOUT deception that Steam did not say this game comes with a instal limit. I am REALLY ANGRY about this I i will avoid ALL games with this type of insult to consumers that want to support companies but companies want to "rent" their games. Well, I don't rent & i won't buy your "rent" games Again !!! !!!! !!!!!!!!!Show moreShow less
Overly Attached Girlfriend - The GameShow moreShow less
one of the best sequels ever made, alongside assassin's creed II. it runs smooth without glitches still now in 2023, and the graphics have aged great, unlike DS1. sadly, to this day EA still has not added Severed (the story DLC that continues the story of Dead Space: Extraction Point) to the PC version. meaning this game is incomplete. no one should tolerate such discriminatory and anti-consumer practices. forcing us to own and play on inferior hardware or use Youtube to know what happens in a part of a game is unacceptable. exclusivity deals for cross-platform games and franchises are unacceptable. so, as punishment, this review shall stay negative.Show moreShow less
