This game shouldn't have been released yet. It's clearly unfinished. They only launched it already cuz season 2 is coming and they want to put it as DLC; so it feels like a cashgrab and I don't usually say that. People wanna like this game because they are either a big naruto storm fan or a big demon slayer fan. I get that since I am both, but I just can't like it when I look at the bigger pitcure, here are some reasons why: The whole game feels like a open beta and not a final product. This could be fixed on later patches, and I hope it will, but for now the game isn't worth 60€, it's barely worth 40€. I say it looks like a beta version based on how it looks and some other reasons which I will explain as well. I have some issues regarding the actual fighting, for example, you can't cancel your attacks by guarding making it feel like it's a mashing game, getting the heavy attack feels way harder then it should be, it can be overall improved for sure and I hope it will. But it isn't bad, it definitely has some interesting mechanics, however the "free roam" is just stale and not fun at all, you walk around catching stuff and the space you walk on is very limited, you can't even jump or do any other action, you just walk (can't even call it run cuz it's so slow). You probably heard it already, but it does not have 60fps optimization, which just reinforces my point earlier, it's not finished. It always runs at 30fps and, in my opinion, that is really stupid, it's 2021, new games shouldn't really even be realeased without 60fps. With that being said, I really hope they add many more characters, because currently it has 18 character and 7 of them are variations/reskins. If they waited for season 2, there would've been a lot more characters. I was looking foward to this game, and once again the gaming industry disappointed me, idkw I still get surprised. I don't recommend it now, but it might chance in the future and MAYBE they'll listen to the community to fix what they to fix and change what they have to change.Show moreShow less

Great game with beautiful visuals and extremely satisfying fighting mechanics. It's very easy to figure out the core mechanics and create your own combos. With that being said, even though I really enjoy the game, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless it's on sale. It's not worth a $60 price tag with the horrible online ranked system that's currently in place. There is virtually no punishment for disconnecting from a ranked match online other than a slap on the wrist and a tally added to the disconnects on your profile. I've played about 20 ranked matches, 6 of which resulted in my opponent disconnecting after being down 2 stocks and getting caught in my ultimate art. I receive no rank rating for these matches, and they receive no punishment. It's ridiculous that I'm being punished simply for outclassing my opponents. Aside from the disconnecting issue online, the ranked leveling system is terrible. There are no real specific tiers to obtain, just stars added to your rank. No one wants to grind to 1, 2, or 3 star rank, it's really not enticing. At the very least they could've added the Demon Slayer ranks starting at Mizunoto and working your way up to Hashira or Demon. It's not a rewarding experience in the slightest. In regard to the story, movement is a bit clunky and running around gets mundane pretty fast, but the boss battles are very fun, and I enjoyed reliving the cinematic experiences of the show. However, this does not justify a $60 price tag. In short, buy this game if you have friends to play with and want to play through the Demon Slayer story. The mechanics are incredibly fun, the animations look beautiful, and executing combos and ultimate arts specific to the characters you love is a pure dopamine rush. This game heavily lacks in the online department though, and that's the main factor which secures the longevity of any fighting game. Hopefully CyberConnect2 can push some changes that make this game complete, as it still feels like an early access project when it comes to online gameplay. I'd love to be able to give this game a positive review one day because there definitely is something special here, but at the present time it doesn't have the fundamental aspects that keep a fighting game alive.Show moreShow less

*Edited review. Everything written here is my own opinion. This is one game that I was very excited about. Kimetsu no Yaiba is the anime that sparked a fading flame, the flame which is my patience and will to watch shows. Cyberconnect 2, the company which made the game, also had a great impression on me ever since Naruto Storm 3 (the PC version), thus, seeing them being in charge of a Kimetsu no Yaiba game was almost too good to be true. And this is exactly how it ended up. CC2 are known to excel in visuals on the Anime Games front. Almost no other, if any at all, can really compare to them on anime-to-game adaptations. But - that is only when we're speaking about visuals. However - it is clear that more than few corners were cut during the production of this game. I'll start with the Campaign. leaving the horrendous launch aside, the single player campaign is extremely lazy, far from what Storm 3, and even Storm 4 were. what makes it lazy is really a combination of many little things, such as lazy NPC animations outside of combat, the lack of ability to run (as Tanjro, at least.) boring side-interactions like the many little NPC quests that feel more like something you do to get an achievement rather than doing it out of genuine interest, and weird sound design at certain places. As for the multiplayer: The multiplayer is... weird. It feels like the combat in this one is a bit dumbed down compared to the Storm series. My first issue with it begins with the tiny roster. Yes, obviously the game follows the Anime thus they cannot add new characters from the Manga as well and have to stick to a fairly limited amount of characters, understandable. But the game costs 60$. They also try to make the roster seem bigger by having more multiple alternatives to quite a few characters, Tanjiro being one with 3 or more different variations that count as different characters. However, this is nothing new with CC2 so honestly it was expected. Another issue I have is the fact that you choose characters and a map before you enter a lobby, and it's... baffling. It's a rather bizarre design choice and I can't bring myself to like it. And lastly, the dodging system. Or rather - rescue. This might be a matter of taste, but getting caught once can very easily lead to losing most if not all of your HP in a single combo. It isn't hard to do, it really isn't something that requires much practice or learning. In regards to some technical stuff: Missing features. Just to name a few: Endless Matches, Lobbies, Spectators. These are things that I personally don't care much about, but the fact that they are lacking from a 60$ fighting game is... yeah... not so good. The option to change online region (outside of room search) also does not exist. And of course - 60 FPS. Boy oh boy we sure love to talk about that. 60 FPS have been the standard in gaming for pretty much a decade and more now, and for PC, more often than not, unlocked Frame Rate is a thing. Yes, Most consoles don't have that, but we're on PC right now. Sega / CC2 have limited the game's Frame Rate to 30 during launch, 60 only on single-player after a certain patch, and now they gave 60 fps online, but only for custom matches because they want "everyone to have a fair experience". Also, cutscenes are still stuck on 30 FPS for no apparent reason, nor have anyone claimed that this will be changed. this is pretty embarrassing. And with all the negativity aside, I don't feel like I have much to expend on the positives, but I will say this: During fights, the game is absolutely jaw-dropping in terms of visuals and sound design. It's incredibly epic and incredibly satisfying to stomp your opponents in this game. as a conclusion: Outside of spectacular but rather easy combat, this game feels like a cheap product made to ride the success of Kimetsu no Yaiba. a 60$ price tag for what it currently is, 2 months after release, is far from being worth it. A shame really.Show moreShow less

thought the whole point of the 70 dollar version was to get all the updates and characters for free but noShow moreShow less
The Hinokami Chronicles is a solid fighter but has some downsides. Gameplay and mechanics are very good and easy to understand. Anyone can easily pick it up and jump in. Story mode is a abridged retaling of the first season and movie from the anime. It has cutscenes with plenty of boss fights. Story mode is where you can unlock characters and costumes. Story mode has 8 chapters and can be finished in 8 to 10 hours. While story mode can be fun for the most part, it has parts that absolutely drag. In many instances you are "free' to explore the map. You can complete small challenges for rewards but other than that its pretty dead. Often you will find yourself walking in a straight line doing nothing and no way to speed it up. i assume this is to extend the length of the game but doesn't mean its fun. I've touched on the gameplay already but let me elaborate further. You have your basic block, light and heavy attack. Each character has their special moves which is their breathing techniques. You chain your attacks and techniques to max out your damage. You have a gauge which when filled can allow you to boost and increase your attributes or perform your Ultimate Art. For the most part characters feel unique enough. Graphically this game is gorgeous. It really feels straight out of the anime. Characters look and move as they should. Arenas are stunning and the open world portions in story mode are just as amazing. The visuals truly pop when using character's techniques and Ultimate Arts. Now back to some downsides. I've already mentioned the highs and lows of story mode but there are still many issues present. For one the lack of content. there are only 18 fighters at launch. 6 of them are clones of other characters. The only major difference between them is their ultimate art. This only leaves us with 12 unique fighters but even then there are still some issues. There are 6 characters who all use water breathing techniques. This wouldn't necessarily be an issue if they didn't reuse techniques for some of them. It really makes them feel like clones of each other. Another issue is the lack of playable demons. Now I'm aware they will be free dlc very soon which is great but really makes the launch feel empty. Characters aren't the only thing lacking. There is hardly any replay value in story mode. You can complete missions in story mode for a higher rank and more unlockables. Most of these unlockables are quotes, music tracks and profile pictures which isn't really enough of an incentive except for the sake of collecting them all. There is no arcade mode which could have really gave it more replay ability. Also there is hardly any costumes to speak of. Costumes could easily give more content. Even a more customization option can really make your character pop out more. Overall this game is a 7/10. A solid fighter but not worth the $60 dollar price tag unless you are a huge demon slayer fan. As the months go by there will be more content and more characters that will make it worth its price making this review irrelevant. Someone asked if the digital deluxe edition is necessary for all the characters. The answer is no. You can unlock them normally through completing challenges. The deluxe edition give you unlock keys to have them right away. You do get costumes for the trio in their patient wear which is only available through the deluxe edition. Other than a few avatar and some in game currency there isn't much to getting the deluxe edition. Can't believe i spent the time to write a review lol. I doubt anyone would get this far reading it. If you somehow made here feel free to share your thoughts.Show moreShow less
this game is pretty fun for about 4 hours but once you beat the story mode there is not much else to do other than online games but there is a low chance you even get into a match due to it not being a really popular game. i think its better to keep your money at least in my opinion some people may love this game but i would not recommend it to other players.Show moreShow less
