This 'review' is only to tell people to TURN OFF MSAA and either put Volumetric Lighting on On or Off. Do not set it to Ultra. Contact Hardening Shadows should also be set to On instead of Ultra as well. These settings are HUGE performance killers with very little noticeable differences ( Mainly Volumetric Lighting and CHS ) Volumetric Lighting and Contact Hardening Shadows are hard to notice on Ultra unless you compare two screenshots side by side and look for the differences. Save yourself the trouble and leave them to On or Off depending on how much of an fps boost you want. Do the above and watch your FPS jump. I'm currently getting 50 fps average ( using the provided benchmark ) with a 980ti @ 1440p on Ultra with MSAA Off and Volumetric Lighting + Contact Hardening Shadows set to On. EDIT: Updated review to mention Contact Hardening Shadows as well.Show moreShow less
Disgraceful. Forget the framerate, forget the performance issues. They're trivial, the common upset of a cutting edge game that reached for more than it should have. The mere presence of an in-game store on a single player game is an insult to the playerbase, the franchise, and just plain common decency. In the brief time this review has been in existence I have been swarmed by comments that my reasoning is invalid. That the presence of an optional store is irrelevant to gameplay. I ask back. Is it? Are you sure? The original Deus Ex was a masterpiece of resource management. There was meaning in your choice of whch augments, which skills, if you used lockpicks or multitools or bullets. And in Mankind Divided you can trivialize all that effort for the low low price of whatever. $3.99 gets you 5 praxis points. There go all those hard decisions, for less than the price of lunch. And I'm being told this isn't going to impact game design? The game developers and producers want our money. They are putting out a product designed to entice us to give it to them. This product crosses a line. This business model is unethical. It damages the integrity of the game design, it insults the players, and it must not be condoned. And this isn't an issue worth making a review over?Show moreShow less
All in all, this is a good game and worth playing. I was a bit skeptic, due to the mixed reviews (especially some people were still negative even by getting it in sale at 15€). I must say, at 15€ it's absolutely a bargain even with its flaws. Mankind Divided continues the story of human revolution, so i don't understand how some negative reviews bash this aspect of the game. It's a sequel, what did you expect? Some people hate the fact that there isn't a real tie-in to the choices taken in human revolution, in fact, you don't need a savegame. Did you save somebody? Did you pick a certain ending? It doesn't matter, the game will recap the first chapter and skip all these customization through careful dialogs and skilled story telling. It's a bit annoying, i can agree, but really, not that big deal like somebody tells. This game has a huge problem for many people: it's not human revolution. HR set the bar very high (especially considering the franchise. Do you remember the time when deus ex 1 was the only good deus ex?) and beating that was going to be a challenge: some people will never be happy. The game has a few flaws, and, in my opinion, are all cause of possible budget cuts or crunch time. Often you see a lack of variety (for example the underground loading screens) which should not be present in AAA games as this one. Do they break immersion? A little. Are they game breaking? Absolutely not. It is true, in order to shove a lot of content in the game (with side missions) many things are sospiciously convenient. Need to do side mission X? What a coincidence, it's just 20 meters over there, just the apartment in front side mission Y. Yet, the story is not bad (although take a few hours to get you engaged) and although i didn't like --- MINOR SPOILER AHEAD ---- the fact that it leaves the door open for a new chapter -------- END OF MINOR SPOIELR ---- i overall had fun. The final mission especially is my favourite part of the game even if it's probably a little too short. Some other minor annoying stuff are there, but really, it's still a very good game. If you liked Human Revolution, this game is for you too.Show moreShow less
This Message is addressed to the Publisher who make us pay for day 1 DLC and only allowed to use it ONCE (Since ASCII M*ddle Finger violates Steam TOS (Credits to : MorbiusTV) i will remove it from the review) ( i really want to keep it in the review though) So here's my review of Deus Ex Mankind Divided TL;DR : The Game itself is a great game, if you played Deus Ex Human Revolution, this IS DE:HR but better (story Sucks tho) Personal Advice : Grab it on sale I will try my best to avoid spoilers in the review and also, i will compare the game to DE:HR Long Version: This is going to get messy Graphics ~ 8/10 Graphics is Gorgeous in this game, you can feel it after jumping right into the game, the lightings, sharp visuals and also the atmosphere takes you right into the game setting itself, but the issue is with the lip-syncing, I don't feel that the developer is doing their best with the lip-syncing, it feels sort of, strange, ever watch a dubbed foreign movie?, it felt like that. The HUD is really user-friendly, you got the option to fade it in the option, or turn it off for total immersion or just for taking cool looking screenshots so Kudos to the developer on this one The details look amazing, clearly a lot of effort has been put into the Graphics (Except Lip-Syncing). TIPS : Turning off MSAA will boost the performance of the game Gameplay ~ 9/10 If you played DE:HR, you will notice different things, 1st, the upgrade system has been revised, meaning you need to explore more and collect what you need, the way you "Augment" yourself has been revised, this small changes is what makes the game interesting, you also have the option to play the game like DE:HR which gives you the Augmentation you used to, but the new Augmentation is DOPE. The Side Quest in this game is ABSOLUTELY Amazing, in DE:HR, The side Quests didn't have much weight on the story, but in this game it actually gives you the opportunity to see what’s going on in the streets of Prague and what’s going on with the Augmented Citizen and the Length of it makes it feel like it’s actually a main mission, Moral Choices also applies, You can always play as the Good-Cop or the Bad-Cop, or if you don't want to get your hands dirty, you can always make others do it for you, with CASIE of course. Another thing: If you have Deus Ex GO on your phone, you can link it to the game and Get free Praxis point for playing it Controls ~ 5/10 The mouse Acceleration is completely unacceptable and also the sensitivity slider is also clunky that it won’t give an exact number I want, I also turn it so low so my mouse stop accelerating but you can still feel the acceleration when you aim down the sight. And why it doesn’t have any [Toggle] option, this should be mandatory in the game, I personally find this really annoying since I like to hold down the crouch button instead of press it once And also, where is the option to remove key-bindings, you can change key-bindings but not remove it, what the- Sound & Music ~ 8/10 I don't know if others have had the same experience as me, cause its buzzing and choppy but I bet it’s just my sound driver, anyway, to the music, The Music is Amazing, as soon as it plays, you will be immersed in it directly, you will feel the Cyberpunk and Tense feel in it, i will gladly swap my Phone Ringtone to one of the OST, i don't have much complain on the sound & music side. Why I didn't recommend it Micro-Transaction I don't know why people put Micro-Transaction in a singleplayer story-driven game, i mean, this is not a competitive game, This is outrageous, i don't know why people even bother to pay for 5 praxis kit for $3.99 when you can get all of those by progressing the story of the game, I don't blame the developer on this one but the publisher needs to get their things sorted out. Remember Guys this is a FULL-FLEDGE AAA GAME THAT COST $60 This is completely unacceptable False Marketing? Who the hell think that changing the DLC name and the content on the launch date is a great idea, a lot of buyers especially those who pre-order this game is completely pissed by this decision, not only that, they announce that you can't claim the consumable repeatedly, which means, if you claim those consumables in one play through, you won't be able to use it in the next play through, the information itself is not disclosed before the Launch, which left many users in disappointment. Updates This review should be finished 2 days ago but because of me experiencing a game breaking bug, which is fixed by the patch yesterday, so, lets continue the review then, Thank you for all of the support that has been given by marking this as a helpful review, your support has been really helpful And thanks for the Great Comments Story ~3/10 Well, So, how should i say this, The game main story itself, could be finished in about 10 hours, not only that it's short, it is also not a memorable one, it doesn't even gave you the chance to love the character, which is a shame, in DE:HR, the story actually gives you the chance to love the character eventhough it is short (My Fav Character is David Sarif and Frank Pritchard), and also the ending doesn't leave you hanging, which means that the ending in DE:HR actually gives you a conclusion to the story, in DE:MD however, you will be left wondering, pondering as if the games is actually over or not. Imagine if LOTR : The Two towers actually ends when the Battle of Hornburg is about to start. It feels somewhat like it. It Cuts the story right as it was starting to get good Another thing is that the game concludes after fighting a villain which has no ulterior motives or what so ever that could justify their action. Shame. What is worse about it that the real ending might be placed behind a DLC Paywall. Spoiler Version So the game concludes after you after you defeat a super-mega-big-brawned-heavily-Augmented Soldier Called Victor Marchenko Right? Which you can kill with just an EMP grenade and a press of a button yes? This is freaking 2029 Mate, even Adam got a freaking EMP Shielding, and you as a "Main Boss" don't even have one? C'mon. The game concludes after around 17 Main mission which is not only short, but There is no actual effect of the decision that you made, that will actualy impact the ending The only decision that gives an impact to the ending is how you actually kill the MAIN BOSS Yes, If you defeat the main boss lethally, you get the bad ending If you defeat the main boss non-lethally, well guess what? you get the good ending and if you did all of the side quest and don't skip the ending credits, you get the alternate ending Not only that, they introduce some characters that could be a main villain but instead they decided to cut the story after fighting some sort of meta-soldier with autism and puts it as a the ONE AND ONLY Boss. Final Score Before Story Review 7.5 /10 After Story Review 6.6 / 10 Conclusion The Gameplay mechanics is great, The Graphic and music is great, but without a great story to support it, it won't be a memorable game, especially after an amazing experience with The W*tcher III So for those who don't really care much about the story, this game is great and worth picking up, but try a gun-blazing gameplay, it is more rewarding than stealth gameplay. For the others who wanted to buy the game for the story, i suggest that you stay away from the game till they applies some discount or if possible wait for the "FULL DIRECTOR CUT" edition instead Thank You for the support, this concludes my review for Deus Ex Mankind Divided, i hope you enjoy it, and the last but not least I Never Asked For ThisShow moreShow less
After playing Cyberpunk...maybe we were too harsh on this gameShow moreShow less
Hoooly hell I never thought I'd have to do this. I have to give this game a negative review. While the gameplay is the same fun Deus Ex gameplay I grew to love from Human Revolution, the experience is a bit soured. Microtransactions in singleplayer. You can buy upgrades and credits for real money. Boring tacked on multiplayer, with additional microtransactions. At launch, DLC could only be redeemed once, to one save file. This means if you started a new game, you couldn't use it again. This included the preorder DLC. Say you did a pacifist run, and then wanted to start a genocide run. Remember that DLC you got? Cant redeem it on the new save file. Mouse acceleration makes aiming difficult for anyone using a mouse and keyboard, and cannot be disabled. Wait for them to fix it. I'm unable to refund at this point sadly, or I would have.Show moreShow less
I see a lot of misinformation being spread in these reviews, so I'm here to clear a few things up. Before I begin, yes I would recommend this game to a Deus Ex fan. It's a wonderful game and another wonderful entry in the series. It pretty much feels like Human Revolution 1.5 in that everything has been tweaked a bit to be better (gunplay, hacking, augments...gameplay in general honestly), but still feels like Deus Ex. It's awesome. That being said, people are saying "you can only use the pre-order stuff once". That's not 100% true. You can use the CONSUMABLES once. The weapons will be available to you on EACH playthrough you do. So that's not anything to worry about. Onto the next problem, microtransactions. Yeah, they suck. But in Mankind Divided, they're more like paid cheat codes. You literally have no reason to buy these unless you are short on time and want to get better stuff earlier. Besides that, they do not affect the game AT ALL. You can ignore the entire store menu and be fine the entire time. It's a single-player game, after all. Who the hell cares? Play the game you want to play it, have fun, and enjoy. This game is great. It's pretty much everything you want in a sequel to Human Revolution. Stop complaining. Have fun.Show moreShow less
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. You too can buy your single pack of tranquilizer ammo, a tranq rifle and three smoke grenades for €4.99. http://store.steampowered.com/app/413390/?snr=1_5_9__405 How about going Assault? http://store.steampowered.com/app/413380/ For only €4.99 you can get access to TWO frag grenades. Yes, TWO frag grenades!! On top of that you also get TWO regular battle rifle ammo and one pack of armour piercing ammo! Amazing what kind of quality we can get these days. Seriously, charging us for ammo and grenades?! Actually charging people for ammunition in a game?! This isn't even the worst of F2P levels of greed. This is downright disgusting! On top of this the game doesn't even run well. I get dips to 35/40FPS for no apparent reason(MSAA off, even having MSAA x2 on obliterates performance). There's also mouse acceleration which you can. not. turn. off. Some permanent motion blur is in effect which gives me, personally, a headache whenever I move around slightly. Turning off motion blur apparently sets blur to low, it doesn't turn it off. Looking at things in the distance is incredibly blurry to the point you can't actually make heads or tails of what it is you're looking at. TAA absolutely needs to be enabled because the game looks a mess without it. The game looks like a jagged razer without TAA despite having MSAA on(Even at 8x). Gameplay just feels wonky and weird because of the horrible blur they have in the game and mouse acceleration. Don't touch this game. Save yourself the migraine!Show moreShow less
Very good PC version by Nixxes. I am running on a 980ti with an i7 4770k on 1440p. While I can't max out the game, its justified with how great it looks. I am running on the high preset with motion blur, and contact hardening shadows removed but ultra textures and tessellation on. I get around 55-65 fps. The game also has a fov slider that goes all the way to 100. Everything is rebindable in terms of controls and controls are very good for the pc version. If you are having any problems with performance, I found two settings to be the biggest hitters. First is the contact hardening shadows, it reduces fps by almost 10, its great looking but not worth the perf hit to me. Also msaa, honestly for me at 1440p the extra aa at a huge perf hit wasn't necessary. Game still looks great without these extra things. Gameplay is great, similar to human revolution with more augmentations added as well as different pathways. I can't comment on story yet because I haven't played through it all. Overall much of what I wanted from a Deus ex human revolution sequel is there and I am very satisfied.Show moreShow less
Constantly crashes. Microtransactions for a single player game. Microtransactions are SAVE LOCKED. If you start a new game better buy them again! This includes the preorder DLC. Wait 2 years for it to get fixed and go on sale.Show moreShow less
