CAPCOM: PLEASE READ THIS Please note that there's a glitch that will completely mess up your data for DMC3, making your save files unplayable and the game unplayable in general. Here's how to trigger it: Beat game with Dante on Normal (yellow) in slot 1 Clear Mission 2 on Hard save in slot 1 Start a Vergil game (yellow) on a separate save slot (2, in my case) Play through the Vergil slot until Mission 10 end Quit while in mission 11 as Vergil Switch to Dante file Load This will invalidate your progress for Dante and mistakenly give him Darkslayer. Because he's not supposed to have that, the game will crash on mission start or earlier, effectively locking you out of your progress. Additionally, the mission list for Dante is now as follows: Easy 1 Normal 6 Hard 3 When previously, it was: Easy 1 Normal 20 Hard 3 EDIT: Some additional information on the glitch after fiddling around: -Vergil file is still playable -Bloody Palace for Dante is also locked out due to the glitch -Style progress for Dante has been reset to level 1 across the board. -Switching to a different style in Customize does not rectify the crash, since the game still believes that it is loading a Vergil playthrough and must be crashing due to some kind of syntax error - Creating a third save file while in the glitched Dante file makes it state Misson 02 HARD and wipes the clear logo when originally it said Mission 2 (CLEAR) HARD with the game clear logo. -Starting a new game with dante, without doing ANYTHING else, gives me all previously unlocked difficulties and costumes, but sets everything back to mission 1 with nothing unlocked (as it should). Quitting out and going to the glitched save file does not clear the glitch EDIT 3: completed further testing, but still unable to rectify the glitch. New findings: -verifying files does not fix the glitch. All files were successfully verified. No mods were installed on my copy at any point, either. -attempting to change the mission in Hard on the mission select menu rolls the mission count back to 1, with only that mission selectable. This also causes a crash at the load screen upon selection -costume selection does not influence the glitch. Crash still happens regardless Hardware would most likely not be a factor in this glitch, looking further at it, but I have included basic hardware specs in comment section. [PLEASE SEE COMMENT SECTION FOR MY HARDWARE INFORMATION] I cannot recommend this collection with such a glaring oversight on part of Capcom. I imagine it's pretty easy to trigger this glitch, so replicating it probably doesn't require the exact details in my steps. I hope that this gets fixed, because DMC3 is one of the best games I've ever played, and getting locked out because of what I assume is a holdover glitch from the original PC release makes this collection not very worth it. Since I already played this enough times on PS2 (which didn't have this glitch), I'm just throwing up my hands and waiting for this to get fixed, if it ever does. I'll change my mind about my rating when the glitch is fixed. EDIT 2: Fixed structure for clarity EDIT 4: Okay, I have been getting a lot of interesting feedback from folks who are either saying that I am lying/being too obtuse/am going to be killed by them, so here is a little sample of screenshots that I could make for my problems: https://imgur.com/gallery/oOH43Ue Please keep in mind that I cannot screenshot things like crashes since they are too sudden. Hope this helps. EDIT 5: I know it's been ages, but I'd like to thank everyone who has tried to throw around ideas on how to work around this and has reported this same kind of thing happening to confirm I am not alone in having this problem. For what it's worth, the other two games work just fine and DMC1 is an essential play that functions very well to this day. DMC2 is...well, you've probably heard it time and time again but it really isn't that good of a play. Come in with zero expectations or less if you want to tread that path.Show moreShow less

🎭 Devil May Cry (2001) The one that started it all. Originally directed by Hideki Kamiya under Capcom’s supervision (and initially planned as a Resident Evil title), this game revolutionized the action genre by introducing fast-paced combat, stylish rankings, and a charismatic anti-hero: Dante. With its gothic atmosphere, punishing boss battles, and now-iconic cutscenes, DMC1 is rough around the edges but dripping with charm and originality. The controls may feel stiff compared to modern standards, but once you get used to it, the satisfaction is real. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3621225779 🕶️ Devil May Cry 2 (2003) Let’s be honest — this is the black sheep of the franchise. Dante’s personality is muted, the gameplay is oddly slow, and the level design is uninspired. But is it unplayable? Not at all. In fact, with the right expectations, it offers a chill, almost meditative hack & slash experience. On the bright side, it introduced Lucia as a playable character and gave us some cool dodging mechanics and wall-running. Think of it as a breather between two chaos-filled storms. 🔥 Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening – Special Edition (2005) This is peak Dante. The most beloved entry of the classic trilogy and one of the finest action games ever made. DMC3 serves as a prequel, telling the story of Dante’s rivalry with his brother Vergil, his discovery of power, and how he truly became the devil hunter we know today. Combat is fast, fluid, and brutally satisfying. You can switch between multiple styles (Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royalguard) and even switch weapons mid-combo — something revolutionary at the time. This Special Edition lets you play as Vergil, adding even more replay value. The difficulty is no joke, but every boss you overcome feels like a badge of honor. Stylish combat isn't just encouraged — it's demanded. 👑Check out my Devil May Cry HD Collection guide collection, covering the Classic version, Special Edition, and the HD Collection. Whether you're stepping into Dante’s world for the first time or returning to master every stylish combo, these guides are designed to help you experience the game at its best. Dive in, sharpen your skills, and embrace the chaos of Devil May Cry 3. Stay stylish! 🔥🎮 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3517934554 💽 HD Remaster & Performance While these are not complete remakes, the HD upgrade is clean and serviceable. Textures are upscaled, performance is smooth (60 FPS), and the games support modern widescreens. DMC1 & DMC2 retain their PS2-era quirks, but DMC3 plays beautifully, especially with a controller. Keyboard and mouse are supported, but not recommended for precise combat — a gamepad is the way to go. 🎵 Soundtrack & Vibes All three games have incredible sound design — from eerie gothic choirs to hard-hitting metal riffs when combat kicks in. The transitions from calm to chaos are seamless, and each track perfectly amplifies the mood of the level or boss fight. And let’s not forget the iconic one-liners. Dante’s quips are pure gold. “Let’s rock, baby.” https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3598685102 ⚖️ Verdict Devil May Cry HD Collection is more than just a nostalgic bundle — it’s a deep dive into the evolution of one of gaming’s most iconic characters and action combat systems. Yes, DMC2 is weaker, and DMC1 has aged. But DMC3 alone justifies the price, and having all three together in one package — enhanced and preserved — is a gift for both newcomers and veterans. 📌 Pros: ✅ DMC3: A masterclass in stylish action combat ✅ Timeless characters and unforgettable cutscenes ✅ Great soundtrack & boss design ✅ Remastered visuals with solid performance ✅ Vergil playable in DMC3 SE ⚠️ Cons: ❌ DMC2 is underwhelming ❌ No bonus extras, concept art, or behind-the-scenes content ❌ No graphical overhaul beyond basic HD remastering ❌ Camera angles can be frustrating in DMC1 🧠 Final Score: 8.5/10 Not a flawless remaster, but an essential experience. Whether you're here to relive your PS2 memories or want to witness the origin of the Devil May Cry legend — this collection delivers enough style, substance, and demon-slaying madness to keep your sword swinging for hours. “Jackpot.” 🎯Show moreShow less

It's a collection of awful ports with tons of unfixed bugs, missing effects and even problems that make certain games borderline unplayable. For example, in the year of our Lord 2022 (4 years after the PC release of this travesty), certain visual effects are still missing, sound is bugged and, worst of all, DMC1 is completely unplayable for me due to: 1) audio desynchronization issues (noticeable in the first cutscene) - the audio runs much faster than the stuttery video and desync happens within 2-3 seconds, and 2) the gameplay itself being terribly slowed down. These issues are widely known, as you can see by browsing the Discussions page. They have been known for 4 full years, and Capcom has done nothing to fix them. I have a GTX 1050 and a 10th generation i5 processor - not the best configuration, but definitely more than enough to run a PS2 game with slightly upscaled textures. And this all goes without mentioning the low-effort feel this port exudes: letterboxed menus, screwed up menu brightness (ex. in DMC1, pressing start brings up this ugly, smudgy, low-contrast Jackson Pollock painting), barebones settings (seriously, the settings are: control map, antialiasing off/on, subtitles off/on), a maximal resolution of 1080p, ZERO keyboard support (yeah, I know, I play on a gamepad as well, but still) etc etc. I've only played 3 before and it's an amazing game, I believe the rest are good too, but not this version. If you buy this overpriced piece of ♥♥♥♥ (and I wouldn't in any case suggest you do), at least get it for under $5. I paid $7 and somehow I still feel ripped off.Show moreShow less
Finally us PC users get to play DMC 1 & 2 after a decade. Pretty stable port and all three games work well (yay no horrendous DMC 3 SE PC Port). I dont have any speed issues with DMC 1, seems to be an issue with 144Hz monitors only. To quote this game in DMC 4's words; the time has come and so have I. Go for it.Show moreShow less
Barebones port to say the least, makes me wonder why it took so long to arrive, perhaps capcom just needed the money. DMC "HD" uses original low resolution ps2 movies and same gigantic UI that isn't widescreen. Textures seem to be a complete cut-copy-paste from console with no visual upgrade whatsoever. Game runs at twice normal speed if using high refresh rate monitor, need to force cap 60fps otherwise it's completely broken. Resolution capped to 1080p.. If you can overlook these issues that should have been patched prior launch and don't really care about it truly being HD which it's not. Then by all means buy, cap to 60fps and enjoy. If never played series before (what's wrong with you?) it's well worth your time. Completed games and not super keen to replay? just wait for sales. Other then finally being released on PC and running at 60fps, it's really nothing special and borderline false advertising imo.
