I don't do reviews for games usually but felt I had to for this one. Avoid this game. Its monetisation practices are near predatory, limits daily grind towards most of the core unlockables near enough forcing players to pay more money, and is one of the worst games i have ever come across. If it was F2P I could turn a blind eye, but the fact you need to pay for this and then most good stuff is locked behind gacha and spending more money it just isnt worth it.Show moreShow less

It's not fun.... the deluxe stuff is literally nothing but bland shirt and pants you basically pay $20 for a mount skin. The game has over $150 of MTX + Gacha pulls in a pay to play game on day 1.... The gameplay seems awful unless you want to play hunter and just destroy people while they have no idea what is even happening to them. I cannot even find a description of what items do in match.Show moreShow less

The core gameplay loop is insanely fun and there's a lot of meat to dig into in terms of mechanics, the preference system is annoying sure but this is the definition of a party game and if that means my mates and I can queue and one of us has a chance to play raider verse the others, i'll cop it. The sense of growing power on both sides is pretty sick and reminds me of Evolve but instead both sides have it and not just the killer/raider and each raider feels unique. One issue is that the game does not tell you about certain features in the game very well, most of the time a lot of important but small mechanics are just on a text scroll of tips loading into the match, that's not enough. My problems arise with the gacha system, seriously gacha is something that proves to me that hell is not just a place accessible after death and that god has foresaken us, it's not just the cringe "uh oh sorry those were some poopy pulls, how about dropping $20 for another ten" mindset behind it but the fact the gacha is directly tied to the survivors progression of their core mechanics, not only are the transformations and supers for said transformations are locked behind the gacha but also the active and passive skills (like the saiyan drop pod, solar flare etc). Not all of them but of course the good ones are. I get it, you need to make money for a live service and you're not charging full price, but you are still asking for $30 AUD admission and then I find out I have roll for a chance to get onto the rides? It's beyond infuriating. Also no cross play and cross progression (I could be wrong about the ladder, correct me if so) is just salt in the wound here, I have the game on steam AND switch so that I could play it in bed but low and behold switch queues are up to 30 minutes, no crossplay was a terrible mistake. The icing on this half willy wonka chocolate cake half dog feces of a game is there's a battle pass, you don't have to pay for it but just seeing a battle pass in literally every single online game makes my eyes roll. TL;DR: A very fun casual take of the asymmetrical genre that fits into the dragonball universe really well and has some mechanical depth and balanced to a decent degree (as much as they can with survivor progression being random for the most part) bogged down by awful gacha and progression systems and lack of cross console support, and because of that I just can't recommend and justify the $30 price tag. ALSO IF SOMEONE IS SPAMMING DRAGONBALL STAMPS AND IS NEAR YOU WHILE YOU ARE HOLDING A SINGLE BALL, PLEASE DROP IT FOR THEM TYVMShow moreShow less
It's Dead by Daylight except you can beat the hell out of the killer. It's not perfect by any means but anyone saying that this game has major balancing issues never figured out any good strategies for playing Survivor/Raider. In my time with this and the playtest, I would say I've seen roughly a 50/50 split in which side wins. Myself and a couple friends have been having a blast playing this together. I get a much better sense of playing as a team on Survivor than in Dead by Daylight, and Raider is fun whether I'm stomping a bad Survivor group or being forced to strategize against a coordinated one. There's been tons of tense moments with some Survivors trying to work an objective while others fight and hold back the Raider. It's just genuinely fun. Having said that, this game is not without its flaws. The tutorial introduces you to the basic objectives but is not at all representative of what actual gameplay is like. The combat itself isn't anything super complex and can be janky at times, e.g. beam attacks connecting when they clearly didn't hit. Bad groups can make a game nigh unwinnable for Survivors (comes with the territory for asymmetrical games), and extremely limited communication options plus not having skill/level-based matchmaking doesn't help. I've also seen a few cases of deliberate teaming between a Survivor(s) and the Raider, and there's no way to report this. I'd recommend playing with a friend or two if you can. The game does have a gacha system, and some skills/characters considered to be must-haves can only be obtained through it. Earning currency is a somewhat slow process, so it can feel frustrating if luck isn't on your side. Finally, and what I consider to be the biggest flaw, is that there is no cross-play/cross-progression and is region-locked. I've seen tons of people complaining about long queue times, particularly on console in areas outside the US. For comparison, my friends and I in the Southeastern US have rarely had to wait more than 30 seconds to find a full lobby. I truly want this game to survive a long time (and from the announcement of a season 2, it seems Bandai Namco does as well), but I think it'll die sooner rather than later without crossplay. In short, if you like Dead by Daylight and you like Dragon Ball, then chances are you'll like this game. Despite it's obvious issues, it's still some of the best fun I've had with a game in a while. My hope is that the devs will be responsive in alleviating these problems and make it an overall better experience.Show moreShow less
Imagine, if you will, a paid PvP game, not free to play, where your gameplay affecting skills and abilities are locked behind gacha pulls fueled by microtransactions. A gacha system which further more doesn't even have any sort of pity mechanics whatsoever. This game is basically Dead by Daylight but worse in every way. As oppose to DbD, Breakers is absurdly luck dependent to a comical degree. Gameplay is very shallow. Crashes extremely often. I've had it crash multiple times in a single day. No crossplay. Menus were not optimised at all for PC, extremely awkward to navigate using mouse and keyboard. Despite being a live service game, they are hardly doing nuthin' to add more content even though it's very barebones. Few maps, few characters. Very cringe. Don't buy. UPDATE: IT'S STILL BAD UPDATE AGAIN: Ginyu (new paid DLC raider) is now available on the public test server. I have experienced 9 matches with him so far and out of them he has won all of them, none of them were even close. So, they're game ending this game, right here and now... It was (almost kinda not really) fun while it lasted...Show moreShow less
What if dead by daylight didn't exploit horror fans and instead exploited dragon ball fans. Now what if it was also fun.Show moreShow less
Don't get this game. I almost never leave reviews btw. I genuinely enjoyed the game during the beta and last minute trials. However, I started having issues with my camera making a complete 180 turn randomly while using a controller. (This didn't happen in the betas) I also had some crashing when exiting the Training menu when looking at skills, and game closes with no error message which just causes me to lose rewards at the end of a match. Now for some BALANCE issues: I also had a major problem with the balance of the game, the Saiyan Escape Pod was majorly nerfed. Originally in the beta it had an 80 second cooldown. LAST MINUTE Trial nerfed it to 90 seconds which was fine, seemed like that was gonna be the change in the full version. Now that the game is out, it was nerfed to 180 seconds along with a very long "landing time" when calling it. Raiders can now just defeat you in 2 melee hits even if you're both Lv.3. Majin Buu is extremely over-tuned atm, they didn't test him and if he gets to the phase where you go inside his body, it's a free win for the raider. Plus, it's a gacha game in a paid game while also having Microtransactions. It should just be free to play at that point. [EDIT 1]: Just wanted to also state that I was almost Lv.60 as Survivor in the Betas and almost Lv. 20 as Raider with 43 hours played during the Open Beta/Last Minute Trial.Show moreShow less
